I received just now my order of Lenovo L15 portable 15.6 inch monitor main reason for buying it even for home use is because of its small size so lesser heat I will feel in my face, hands, and body ======= My problem with big monitors even the standard size which is a 24 inch monitor these days is my face gets hot and greasy oily after 30 minutes of usage and it feels really uncomfortable feeling...im not the type to really care about appearances so I dont care about oily face, but it feels uncomfortable because my face feels hot and greasy... then the heat extends to my hands then my chest then my whole upper body....really uncomfortable feeling ========================== I tried various remedies adjust the brightness or the distance of the monitor from me but all the same. I was using back then a 24 inch monitor and even used an older 21.5 inch monitor so it is smaller which I thought will solve or lessen the problem I am experiencing but the problem still persists...Ive searched various monitors...I saw 18 inch monitor but from unknown brands and uses TN instead of IPS which I prefer... then ive managed to search smaller than that which are portable monitors ======================== So the changes I did from using my 21.5 inch monitor and external keyboard are the following: Im using my 12.4 inch samsung tablet but there are times you really need a laptop to do stuff so the temporary remedy when im doing a lot of computer tasks is to use my laptop as is (no external keyboard and external monitor) for a few days while my face still feels heat while using my laptop that has 15.6 inch screen, it is within endurable levels It is a temporary because I do not want to use my laptop keyboard as much as possible because laptop keyboards tend to break fast no matter how you take care of it so I want to use my laptop keyboard sparingly and just for outside use. Also, when you use your laptop, you run the risk of spilling liquid or food crumbs So I stayed with this set up which is using my laptop as is (no external keyboard and external monitor) for a few days. so I finally ordered a portable monitor which I chose Lenovo L15 which is small enough that even if I will feel heat in my face it will be tolerable. I chose lenovo L15 which is almost the same price over my first choice which is ASUS Zen Screen mb166cr I chose lenovo L15 because the contrast ratio is 1000:1 while the asus zen screen mb166cr 800:1 and also Lenovo L15 portable monitor has 2 USB C port that you can choose either of the 2 to connect... so even if one USB C port depreciated over time and malfunctions or stops working I have another USB C Port because there are 2 USB C ports that are available... in addition to 2 USB C ports there is also another usb port (edit: the third one is not a usb port but a kensington lock...for lenovo L15 portable monitor it is 2 usb C ports and the third one is kensington lock but still, 2 usb c ports for lenovo L15 as opposed to Asus Zenscreen MB166cr 1 usb c port that when it fails then makes it unusable) While the Asus Zenscreen MB166cr only has one usb c port and if that fails eventually then it will be stressful to have it repaired or even replaced... sadly the advantage for me of Asus Zenscreen is while of the same screen size, it is smaller than Lenovo L15 and easier to swap of landscape and portrait as opposed to lenovo L15 because Lenovo L15 portable monitor has a foldable landscape stand attached so it is kinda bigger so thats why I chose Lenovo L15 portable monitor in the end ========== so now that my order arrived...I returned my laptop to a docked closed position and set up my new small 15.6 inch portable monitor and external keyboard (Note I have a 16 ports usb hub with its own power supply so I have no problems having my laptop docked and all the accessories are attached to the 16 ports USB HUB so the wire and accessory management clean, capable, and manageable) im happy with the purchase and add to that the low blue light mode and I will not worry if I accidentally spill liquid or throw food crumbs to my external keyboard because it is an optical keyboard and is sturdy enough that is really water resistant and even then easy to replace in case.... also even generic low priced keyboards can withstand liquid spills Now, my face, hands, upper body while still feeling some heat and some discomfort because of the heat, at least now I can somewhat endure it because the heat is not as much as opposed to the heat I am experiencing when I am facing a 24 inch monitor or even 21.5 inch monitor
r/thinkpad • What do you think of portable monitors? If you have one, what do you use it for? ->they're a dime a dozen, but really I think any of those chinese 15.6" monitors work fine and dandy - I ended up getting two, a ARZOPA portable monitor and then an ASUS ZenScreen 15.6" I prefer the ARZOPA over the Asus. ARZOPA (or any of those crazy sounding companies) have usb-c and hdmi input, which is a plus. Other things I bought that I found kinda useful: \- Portable monitor stand: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2YCT3V7?ref=fed\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2YCT3V7?ref=fed_asin_title) \- Super portable laptop stand: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2WMTWTD?ref=fed\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2WMTWTD?ref=fed_asin_title) The ASUS I thought was gonna be handy with the threaded 1/4-20 on the back to mount with tripods and stuff, but it doesn't work since the thread mount is so shallow that the monitor just spins on most mounts/not deep enough to "lock in" unless you have the ability to shorten the thread length (like on a cold shoe mount or something).
r/editors • Recommends for travel/folding/attachable monitors for MBP? ->That's what I have, and I love it, and I spent probably 2 months traveling/living out of hotels this year between work and pleasure. The portable travel monitor travels super well, is a great size (I have the 15" one), and is very user friendly. I also travel with a bluetooth Logitech mouse that is like a decade old, but gets the job done and I prefer having on to using the trackpad on a laptop.
r/biglaw • Best portable travel monitor? ->I bought a cheap ASUS zenscreen 1080p for about $150, and it's worked great. Image quality isn't beautiful or anything but it's fine for coding. If you're in video or photo I wouldn't recommend. I also use my ipad pro sometimes, but probably will leave the ipad pro home on the next trip -- the ipad with a cover and keyboard are a lot of weight. I think the asus zenscreen is quite a bit lighter, and it's a much bigger screen than the ipad.
r/digitalnomad • Portable monitor recs for long-term travel? ->Yeah, they're called portable monitors. They are usually USB-C powered, 1080p, and 14-17". Pretty easy to find, but save yourself some time and just look into the Asus Zen screen line.
r/buildapc • Is very-small second monitor a thing? ->I got a zenscreen from asus. They have many sizes, plug and play 1 usb-C to usb-c cable.
r/laptops • A portable monitor to "reportabilize" a headless laptop? ->I use a 15" portable Asus USB monitor on my Studio as the third monitor. Run FCP in the 2 desktop monitors. The USB for anything else. Works great.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->It's a 4 year old Asus USB A. The cable came with it and it's not HDMI at the other end (Or it is HDMI, just with different interface. ) It was not expensive and it super versatile. I also use it on MacBook Pro and a HP Windows laptop. Great investment as it still fits is a backpack along with whatever laptop. It's probably not what you want for gaming. But it's a GREAT accessory monitor. Unfortunately I can't give you exact model number today as I just moved yesterday and it's packed away at the moment. Also it's old enough I'm sure that exact model number isn't the same anymore. But don't overthink it. Just find one that says "works on Mac". The Studio will handle it just fine.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->Follow up. ASUS no longer makes a USB A to micro HDMI. They use USB C with Display capability to their Micro HDMI port. The Mac Studio's USB C on the back handle this fine. They are display port capable. So yes, Asus Zenscreen Portable should be fine on your Studio. (Note it's now a touch screen as well. So undoubtedly more money than non-touch monitor) But shop around. It's not rare or complicated.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->I used an ASUS ZenScreen for two years until it got broken thanks to the dumb security checks at a Vietnamese airport. Very good screen, recommend it, got a newer model after this one.
r/digitalnomad • Portable monitors ->I can't recommend a specific one personally, but I would just recommend you get one that connects via HDMI, and not USB-C, as sometimes USB-C monitors require specific drivers which don't work with Linux. I have an ASUS Zenscreen for example that requires the DisplayLink software to run, which isn't compatible with Linux devices.
r/steamdeckhq • Anyone use a portable monitor with their steam deck? ->I have one of these. 100% recommend. Great viewing angles and no fuss. If I bought it again I would try to get one 16:10. Didn’t realize how much 16:9 bothers me. But I use it vertically anyway.
r/biglaw • Best portable travel monitor? ->I use the Asus Zen Screen and it's been excellent. The first one that I got was a dud, wouldn't work over usb-c with the cable provided, but I returned it immediately and have had no issues with the replacement.
r/Architects • Recommendations for a "portable" external monitor for CAD work? ->ASUS ZenScreen, Keychron Q1, Dell K512D. Then again, I don't carry much with me. If you're looking for lighter monitors, the Sony makes some lightweight ones like the Vaio Vision+. I could certainly lose a lot of weight with a different keyboard as well. This thing is about 1-2kg. If you're not picky with it, Logitech makes some nice, lightweight keebs. As for the mouse, I've been using this for at least 10 years (for gaming and professional use) and it's still running strong. Didn't really feel the need to replace it, and it's not heavy at all.
r/sffpc • Those that travel regularly, what is your monitor, keyboard, and mouse setup? ->I'm a bit more bougie and have an Asus zenscreen I use for my PIs, but I would definitely buy this bundle if I was getting one for someone else.
