"I use a 15" portable Asus USB monitor on my Studio as the third monitor. Run FCP in the 2 desktop monitors. The USB for anything else. Works great."
"Portable monitors are "low quality" if you're, idk, a photographer or video editor that needs high quality color grading. But if your job is answering emails and creating spreadsheets, the difference won't be decipherable."

"The ASUS I thought was gonna be handy with the threaded 1/4-20 on the back to mount with tripods and stuff, but it doesn't work since the thread mount is so shallow that the monitor just spins on most mounts/not deep enough to "lock in" unless you have the ability to shorten the thread length (like on a cold shoe mount or something)."
"VESA mount compatible unlike Asus' portable monitor."

"I have an ASUS Zenscreen for example that requires the DisplayLink software to run, which isn't compatible with Linux devices."
I previously have a month old Asus ZenScreen MB16AHG which I accidentally sat on. If you're wondering how, it was inside the grey case and it was placed on my grey computer chair so you get the idea. I'm currently looking for a replacement since I can no longer find an MB16AHG (FHD, IPS with 144hz) Specs-wise both are the same except for the response time. XG16AHPE is 3ms compared to 16G3 which is 4ms. XG16AHPE has a built-in battery while 16G3 doesn't have one. Price wise, 16G3 (SGD$309) is almost half the price of the XG16AHPE (SGD$699). I'll be mainly using this for my handheld gaming device and for my gaming console which is one reason why I'm looking for something portable that has an HDMI port. What do you think should I get?
r/buildapc • Monitor Inquiry : AOC 16G3 or Asus ROG Strix XG16AHPE ->i just received my AOC 16G3 since Asus ROG Strix XG16AHPE is no longer avaiable in the market. AOC 16G3 \- what comes inside the box aside from the monitor: (1) power adapter and cable, (2) mini HDMI to HDMI cable, (3) USB type-C cable, (4) vesa mount and screws, (5) monitor sleeve, and (6) manual / warranty registration card \- design-wise, great color combo and I like the polka-dot theme like design at the back. \- i find the image sharper and clearer than my previous Asus MB16AHG \- it has an adaptive sync feature which you can turn off/on anytime via the monitor's Menu options \- have speakers and an option to use a 3.5mm headphone jack. MG16AHG has no speakers but only has the 3.5mm headphone jack. Volume-wise, it isn't that loud but is still clear and doesn't sound muffled. \- VESA mount compatible unlike Asus' portable monitor. it does come with a Vesa mound screens. \- it has 2 USB-C ports. You can use 1 of the USB Type-C ports to power on the monitor without having to use an external power. The other USB Type-C port is mainly for the external power adapter. I've tried plugging in a cable that goes to my Rog Ally X and although it does provide power, it can't detect any signal. I've used the original Asus power adapter from my previous monitor on the AOC 16G3 and it works like a charm. The power adapter and cable that comes withe AOC is similar to that of the laptop's charger. \- the stand can only be opened to 30 degrees angle. Unlike Asus, it can to go 45 degrees. \- the carrying case provided is sub-par. They could have provided a much better sleeve. Too bad it can't fit the one that came withe asus. \- navigating to the Menu options can be a bit tricky compared to Asus where it's as simple as it gets. However, it does give you a variety of what options to turn on/off or to adjust. \- it has an HDMI port (mini HDMI port to be precise) which you can use for your laptop or your game consoles. \- even with it's cheap price, it is actually a good monitor. It's one would say bang for the buck. \--- now, i'm still thinking whether it's still wise to have the Asus MB16AHG fixed. Looking at the intial cost of the registration and laber, the total cost is already SGD$140 which are non-refundable should you change your mind in getting it fixed. The cost of the part is the big question. Will it cost more that the monitor itself or will the price be lower? I'm guessing that the cost might be higher since we're talking about a damaged IPS screen.
r/buildapc • Monitor Inquiry : AOC 16G3 or Asus ROG Strix XG16AHPE ->they're a dime a dozen, but really I think any of those chinese 15.6" monitors work fine and dandy - I ended up getting two, a ARZOPA portable monitor and then an ASUS ZenScreen 15.6" I prefer the ARZOPA over the Asus. ARZOPA (or any of those crazy sounding companies) have usb-c and hdmi input, which is a plus. Other things I bought that I found kinda useful: \- Portable monitor stand: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2YCT3V7?ref=fed\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2YCT3V7?ref=fed_asin_title) \- Super portable laptop stand: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2WMTWTD?ref=fed\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2WMTWTD?ref=fed_asin_title) The ASUS I thought was gonna be handy with the threaded 1/4-20 on the back to mount with tripods and stuff, but it doesn't work since the thread mount is so shallow that the monitor just spins on most mounts/not deep enough to "lock in" unless you have the ability to shorten the thread length (like on a cold shoe mount or something).
r/editors • Recommends for travel/folding/attachable monitors for MBP? ->That's what I have, and I love it, and I spent probably 2 months traveling/living out of hotels this year between work and pleasure. The portable travel monitor travels super well, is a great size (I have the 15" one), and is very user friendly. I also travel with a bluetooth Logitech mouse that is like a decade old, but gets the job done and I prefer having on to using the trackpad on a laptop.
r/biglaw • Best portable travel monitor? ->I bought a cheap ASUS zenscreen 1080p for about $150, and it's worked great. Image quality isn't beautiful or anything but it's fine for coding. If you're in video or photo I wouldn't recommend. I also use my ipad pro sometimes, but probably will leave the ipad pro home on the next trip -- the ipad with a cover and keyboard are a lot of weight. I think the asus zenscreen is quite a bit lighter, and it's a much bigger screen than the ipad.
r/digitalnomad • Portable monitor recs for long-term travel? ->I got a zenscreen from asus. They have many sizes, plug and play 1 usb-C to usb-c cable.
r/laptops • A portable monitor to "reportabilize" a headless laptop? ->I use a 15" portable Asus USB monitor on my Studio as the third monitor. Run FCP in the 2 desktop monitors. The USB for anything else. Works great.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->It's a 4 year old Asus USB A. The cable came with it and it's not HDMI at the other end (Or it is HDMI, just with different interface. ) It was not expensive and it super versatile. I also use it on MacBook Pro and a HP Windows laptop. Great investment as it still fits is a backpack along with whatever laptop. It's probably not what you want for gaming. But it's a GREAT accessory monitor. Unfortunately I can't give you exact model number today as I just moved yesterday and it's packed away at the moment. Also it's old enough I'm sure that exact model number isn't the same anymore. But don't overthink it. Just find one that says "works on Mac". The Studio will handle it just fine.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->Follow up. ASUS no longer makes a USB A to micro HDMI. They use USB C with Display capability to their Micro HDMI port. The Mac Studio's USB C on the back handle this fine. They are display port capable. So yes, Asus Zenscreen Portable should be fine on your Studio. (Note it's now a touch screen as well. So undoubtedly more money than non-touch monitor) But shop around. It's not rare or complicated.
r/MacStudio • Mac Studio with a portable monitor ->I used an ASUS ZenScreen for two years until it got broken thanks to the dumb security checks at a Vietnamese airport. Very good screen, recommend it, got a newer model after this one.
r/digitalnomad • Portable monitors ->I have one of these. 100% recommend. Great viewing angles and no fuss. If I bought it again I would try to get one 16:10. Didn’t realize how much 16:9 bothers me. But I use it vertically anyway.
r/biglaw • Best portable travel monitor? ->I use the Asus Zen Screen and it's been excellent. The first one that I got was a dud, wouldn't work over usb-c with the cable provided, but I returned it immediately and have had no issues with the replacement.
r/Architects • Recommendations for a "portable" external monitor for CAD work? ->ASUS ZenScreen, Keychron Q1, Dell K512D. Then again, I don't carry much with me. If you're looking for lighter monitors, the Sony makes some lightweight ones like the Vaio Vision+. I could certainly lose a lot of weight with a different keyboard as well. This thing is about 1-2kg. If you're not picky with it, Logitech makes some nice, lightweight keebs. As for the mouse, I've been using this for at least 10 years (for gaming and professional use) and it's still running strong. Didn't really feel the need to replace it, and it's not heavy at all.
r/sffpc • Those that travel regularly, what is your monitor, keyboard, and mouse setup? ->I'm a bit more bougie and have an Asus zenscreen I use for my PIs, but I would definitely buy this bundle if I was getting one for someone else.
