r/eink • Cannot decide between dasung 13.3 color and bigme 13.3 color portable monitors. Help? ->The question is whether your eyes will be fine using the color eink panels because the color displays have reportedly caused strain to various people with eye issues, me included (i have bigme 25.3 inch monitor). The safest bet for strain is b&w but I wouldn't recommend it specifically for coding, unless there's absolute need. I personally code in dasung paperlike 13k b&w 13.3 inch and the experience isn't great, especially for any work that requires working with terminal (Speed is awesome though).

Help? ->I use b&w 13.3 dasung and it's great for the eyes and in terms of speed, just not great working with terminals and some apps. I've also tried Bigme and Eazeye RLCD and both caused me mild strain despite being a better experience to b&w apps.
r/eink • Cannot decide between dasung 13.3 color and bigme 13.3 color portable monitors. Help? ->I own both aforementioned products of the title and I wanted to leave my comments here for people to find in the future, in case they ever find themselves in need of such products. I work as a software engineer and i have light sensitivity so these products are extremely important for me. Let's start with: Dasung paperlike 13k b&w Amazing speed. You forget that you're working with an eink device. Great for the eyes, no strain at all. Really bright that can work with one conventional light. Works good with extra contrast themes. The downside is basically the b&w and you miss the larger screen. It gets harder to code with a b&w as errors and improvements in IDEs appear the same. I wouldn't choose the b&w for anything but work and if you're new into coding, don't pick this as color is really important. Bigme B251 with color That's the Kaleido 3 panel. Speed is decent, but not great. Colors are decent better than Dasung's color model from a side by side comparison that I've seen. Coding with this is good. Extra contrast themes also work good here. In terms of issues, the white cursor is hard to find but you can solve it in windows at least. Just change cursor to black and maybe increase size by 1 and it's fine. Unfortunately I had mild strain with this panel, especially with the frontlights. Without front light is a lot better but i still got some strain. The best way to work with this without frontlights, is at a 90 degree angle to a window. Don't face it directly to a window as you'll get glare. Without daylight, the panel needs a lot of light because it's dark. You might need some strong LEDs. I've found that floor lamps facing the ceiling are the best way to light it up without annoying glare. If you think color is not so important, it's probably better to choose Dasung's model. Overall, I'm amazed by Dasung's speed and Bigme's colours. For work Dasung is probably best. If colors are important for you, go with Bigme. If you want to browse internet, images and videos again Bigme is probably the better choice. For coding and work, i'd personally pick dasung's 25'3 color model rather than Bigme. For strain, remember that the b&w models have none if you have eye issues. For regular users, you'll be fine working with kaleido 3 panel without front lights and with only utilising daylight.
r/eink • Bigme B251, Dasung paperlike 13k comparison and review ->I am likely to change my setup from one 13 inch bw 40hz to the 10in one just to save $200. So if it changes your mind to buy mine for like $625ish and shipping ~~~ I cannot be upright and I have been trying to find thr best way to use my computer and eink while on my bed. I think the 10inch connected to my lenovo thinkpad coming next week will be the move. The 13 inch has been good to me though
r/eink • Dasung's Best Portable Monitor for Productivity and Art? ->Bigme 13” is not out yet, so we don’t know yet if it’s gonna be a good monitor. We only expect it to be good because 25” version is decent. But 13.3” is only in preorders now, until it’s available we don’t know what issues it might have. I use a combo of 13.3 Dasung 13K Revo and 13.3 colour and I spend 80% of the time on the B&W screen because it’s just better. The contrast is better, the screen is brighter and weirdly it feels like it’s higher resolution than the colour one (even though it’s not). The screen is just sharper with no RGB matrix. I use both in 1200x900 scaled resolution instead of the default 1600x1200 (using BetterDisplay and flexible scaling) because my eyesight is not fantastic and they still work fine this way. I use this mostly for coding and for that B&W is great. However I turn to the colour one for code reviews and reading doffs, because they’re more legible with colour. I wouldn’t recommend buying just the colour one in 13.3” format, you’ll be disappointed. It’s either 25” colour, 25” B&W or the combo I have. If you only have funds for one 13.3”, get 13K B&W one and fallback to an LCD for when you really need colour.

It's cheap but no one likes throwing money away. I have a Dasung and I'd say the 15fps it provides is the minimum to use it as a monitor. I mainly do coding.
r/eink • AliExpress 60hz 10.8" Eink monitor pics ->I have old Dasung and it is excellent, no mouse delay and very responsive, portable too. 40hz would be even better But Dasung has 0 support so u have to be lucky to receive a good piece
r/eink • Seeking Advice on Portable E-ink Monitors for Eye Strain Relief ->Bigme offers their refund policy, but Dasung doesn’t at all. I think Bigme will be better choice for me since B13 is much cheaper within the preorder term and they have a variety of color e-ink tablets. If you focus on high refresh rates, Dasung would be the best. They’re going ahead other than rivals. I love the 10 inch size for my usability, but the resolution(1872/1440pxs) is probably poor as a PC monitor, so I currently wish 13 inch 60Hz models would come out in the future.
