Just received the dasung paper like HD 40hz screen and connected it to my MacBook Air - Beautifully responsive - Nice resolution - works with USB-C only Found out after this video: - Touchscreen doesn’t work - using the app « Amphetamine » I can close my MacBooks lid even without connecting a charger. This means I can use the e ink screen with an external keyboard and mouse while being outside and not draining my MacBooks battery
Bigme 13” is not out yet, so we don’t know yet if it’s gonna be a good monitor. We only expect it to be good because 25” version is decent. But 13.3” is only in preorders now, until it’s available we don’t know what issues it might have. I use a combo of 13.3 Dasung 13K Revo and 13.3 colour and I spend 80% of the time on the B&W screen because it’s just better. The contrast is better, the screen is brighter and weirdly it feels like it’s higher resolution than the colour one (even though it’s not). The screen is just sharper with no RGB matrix. I use both in 1200x900 scaled resolution instead of the default 1600x1200 (using BetterDisplay and flexible scaling) because my eyesight is not fantastic and they still work fine this way. I use this mostly for coding and for that B&W is great. However I turn to the colour one for code reviews and reading doffs, because they’re more legible with colour. I wouldn’t recommend buying just the colour one in 13.3” format, you’ll be disappointed. It’s either 25” colour, 25” B&W or the combo I have. If you only have funds for one 13.3”, get 13K B&W one and fallback to an LCD for when you really need colour.
Bigme offers their refund policy, but Dasung doesn’t at all. I think Bigme will be better choice for me since B13 is much cheaper within the preorder term and they have a variety of color e-ink tablets. If you focus on high refresh rates, Dasung would be the best. They’re going ahead other than rivals. I love the 10 inch size for my usability, but the resolution(1872/1440pxs) is probably poor as a PC monitor, so I currently wish 13 inch 60Hz models would come out in the future.
