This [one](https://a.co/d/bZXawB9) is worth a look. It’s 500nits, but quite bright and vibrant. It’s 4k and looks just as clear as the Retina display on my 2020 MacBook Air, but much brighter. I paid $200 last year, but you can usually get it for less than $150 now. I keep mine in a hardshell case I can throw in my backpack. I’ve yet to see any portable monitors 600nits and an affordable price point. Any higher and you’d probably want to look at mini led displays
r/digitalnomad • Affordable monitor with close to 1000 nits? ->Just to be clear before anyone say just get a MacBook. I actually sold my MacBook Pro 14 inch in exchange for M4 Mac mini, and I still get some cash back as MacBook Pro 14 inch still hold a lot of value except aging battery. I rarely need to work outside, so a MacBook is pretty much irrelavent for me since I always use it as a desktop at home and work, which its built in keyboard is taking a lot of space in my desk (as I use external keyboard, mouse), and I already have those + external monitor. And with Mac mini I don't have to worry about fragile screen, aging battery, plugging in 24/7. So I can justify moving to M4 Mac mini. Yes this setup is more janky than a MacBook, but this is like emergency setup when somehow I cannot work at home due to house repair or insane noise, so I am ok setting these up outside my home (which is not that messy), they still fit in my backpack. And when travelling to work, I just need the Mac mini as I have everything in the office. - The battery bank is Yoobao EN1 with 46200 mAh with AC outlet, I used this setup for 2 hours and battery has 62% left, checking power usage on Mac is about 13-14w (As it needs to power the portable monitor, if it's unplugged then it uses about 8w, there is low power mode on M4 Mac mini if you want even lower power usage). - The monitor is Intehill U13NA 13 inch 4K monitor, they have 15 inch version if you need bigger, 4K is a selling point, color is a bit too saturated and response time is not that great (when swiping you will see noticable ghosting, which is on other Apple devices with LCD displays anyway). - The mouse is Keychron M6, it's a great MX Master rip off for cheaper, it's just worse battery life and no thumb button.
