UPERFECT - 16" 2K HDR Portable Monitor

I use a portable monitor from uperfect with my work laptop. Net: too many cables because I have to power the monitor too.

Search in amazon for uperfect. They have several models. The one I have is not one I would use for gaming as it is 1600p.

I have this same one and use it with my work laptop. Have been able to power it on USB-C only some of the time, so I have an external USB-C cable powering it from an Anker adapter. I won't use it at full-res with my X: too many pixels to push. Uperfect has an FHD version for under $100 on Amazon.

There are better models you can get cheaper on aliexpress if youre willing to wait up to 2 weeks. The exact same monitors from aliexpress are on amazon with a huge markup. I got my portable monitor which is 1440p 144hz vrr for $160

usually for a similar price to an Arzopa you can find a 16" 1600p 120hz Uperfect panel, the increased resolution is worth it for me for non-gaming tasks I had last years model and it got a dead pixel and they swapped it for this years, and the new ones are dimmer tho

Just wanted to say thank you for writing this out. I was looking between the Uperfect and the Forhelp just now as they're both well above the number of reviews than any other brand out there. I still don't know which I'm getting but still wanted to say thanks for writing it nonetheless lol. I actually had the UPerfect for a hot second and completely forgot it requires the external power or it'll cut out above like 70ish percent. Thanks for that reminder!

For whats it's worth I own two of UPERFECT's 16:10 16" 1600p 120hz IPS portable monitors and they work perfect after 1.5 years.. Only gripe is that not every USB-C port is able to single-cable power and provide video to them.. Random laptops work and some just flat out do not, such as any Lenovo i've tried do not work.. But Asus laptops worked fine. So I would plan on knowing you might need to use two Type C ports to power and provide video. Outside of that, at least in the IPS variants I have, the brightness is pretty low compared to the internal panels of most laptops but they still get bright enough to use in a bright room.

When it comes to portable monitors I'd recommend looking out for the brightness and getting something with 400-500 nits. When I first got my first portable i did not know to look for that since most regular monitors are plenty bright. It turned out to be so dim its hardly usable in the day. Personally i'd go for the uperfect because its 400 nits and a lot of these portable monitors are not very bright. I bought one random chinese one before without paying attention to the brightness and it was unusable in daylight.

It looks good in theory but is surprisingly annoying to setup to make sure its properly clamped to your laptop and that it won't be putting unnecessary weight on the hinge. Depending on how tight the space is it might not be possible to open both sides which means one side is just awkward and unusable (unless one screen can be detached). I prefer the simple standalone portable monitor setup. Also, for portable monitors I recommend looking for one above 400 nits (brightness). Many portable monitors are quite dim - sometimes unusable in daylight. I personally wasted money on one before. FWIW my wife and I have been a digital nomad for 3-4 years and we've been using those regular standalone portable monitors from uperfect. We've been pretty happy with them and they're thin and light enough to bring around.

I won’t go for 4k. It’s an overkill for portable monitors smaller than 19in. It may not be able to be powered by just a USBc from your MacBook too. I'd recommend getting one that is brighter. The one you linked is only 250cdm2 which is pretty low. I would look for something that either has >400 nits or have reviews saying its bright. It has 400 nits and IME 2k resolution is the sweet spot for portable monitors. 2k is crisp enough so my eyes won't get tired reading blurry text. Anything higher is overkill for screens below 20 inches, plus you'll likely need to plug in an extra power cable. Its more expensive though so if you want something cheaper the Z1FC Arzopa at the top is on sale now on amazon i think and is at least 300cdm2 and has reviews saying its bright enough.

At this point, why not just bring a laptop? 3 items (laptop + charger + mouse) vs 5 at minimum (ally + charger + keyboard + mouse + screen) Theres no way this is more compact (or convenient) than a laptop setup. I have an rog ally and I initially thought about this setup and I even bought a uperfect 16" 120hz QHD monitor but after trying it out its just easier to keep it as a handheld and bring my laptop if I want to use keyboard + mouse.

For the review that nobody asked for... below is my pro & cons to of two portable monitors. I needed a portable monitor for a non-gaming reason and bought two candidates and returned the other. I didn't buy it just for the Ally X but it's nice to have. Figured that this may help anybody who may be considering two cheap'ish portable monitors. I returned the Arzopa and kept the Uperfect.

I can run the Uperfect on USB C only but at only 20% brightness. I'm not sure if it matters but remember that one of the ports is a thunderbolt 4 port and the other is a normal USB port.

I got the "UPERFECT 2K 120Hz Portable Gaming Monitor, 16" 2560x1600 QHD Portable Monitor" version. Very happy with it. I noticed that it went up by $20 in a few days on Amazon, maybe wait a few days to see if it goes on sale again.

I think it looks great. There are better portable monitors out there but for the price, it's very good.

Oh I’m using that one. I like it. It’s light, good matte screen and I got Uperfect’s vesa kickstand which makes moving it much less cumbersome since the cover is definitely flimsy and unreliable as a kickstand

I probably wouldn’t honestly, look at UPerfect on Amazon, I have the 2560x1600 120hz and the resolution is definitely overkill tbh but it’s worth it imo. Edit: the 16 inch model to be specific

Uperfect owner here. No problems at all. Traveled and stuff. The finish isn't great, but it works and the image quality is good.

FYI I also have the same monitor and have been using it over a year as a third for my main PC, I glued some magnetic metal onto the back and bought magnetic usb c adapters and a magnetic vesa mount. Whenever I go somewhere I can just grab it off the stand along with my switch and portable battery bank and have a blast. Well worth magnetising if that helps make it more appealing haha.

I need to travel soon, and saw this as a perfect opportunity to finally get a Framework 16. I like/need a 3 monitor setup, so I picked up some portable monitors ([ARZOPA 16" 2.5K Portable Monitor](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CH9XR3G4)). These little things are great on my desktop and with my phone. So it came as a surprise when they didn't work with the USB C ports on the FW. A few google searches shows I'm not alone in this issue. The display works if I connect to the single USB C port in the back of the GPU expansion card, but not at full brightness. I can also get them to work via a USB C dongle and HDMI, using an aditional USB A cable from the dongle to power the display. This is really dissapointing, and I'm not sure I would of even gone for this setup if I had to deal with more dongles and cables. My questions are if anyone's had success with USB C portable monitors with similar specs, or if anyone has any dongle or cable recommendations that will still let me use just 1 cable for each monitor. --- Returned the monitors. You get a warning about providing aditional power, but I haven't had any issues with just the one cable connected to the FW16.

I ended up getting these [UPERFECT 2K](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHNLZCNF) monitors. I really like how thin the bezels are; **however**, I've had 1 of them break on me simply by picking it up. Cracked the screen on the edge. I ordered a replacement, and that one arrived with a 1 pixel high blue line spanning across the entire monitor. I ended up getting this [ForHelp](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQHVYC5L) monitor (holy shit did the price go up. I paid $150 for mine), mostly because I wanted to try a different brand after Uperfect failed me twice. The bottom bezel is a bit bigger, and the monitor runs at 60hz vs the 120hz of the previous one, but I'm not using either of these as a gaming monitor over the FW's 165hz monitor. The Uperfect's monitor isn't as bright as it can be running off of 1 cable, but it's plenty serviceable. Definitly brighter than my attempts at running it with my first monitor in my post and a USB-C hub. The ForHelp monitor runs the brightest off 1 cable, though oddly enough can't be pushed to full 100%. Running at 70% it is noticeably brighter than Uperfect's *stated* 100%. If I had to pick one, I'd probably try Uperfect again. Maybe I just got unlucky. Especially when looking at the sudden price hike of the ForHelp, with its lower refresh rate and *slight* bulkiness. Both worked great for my needs though.

Frankly, I don't think you'd notice the difference between the OLED's 120hz and a 144hz display unless you had them side by side. And even then it could be hard to tell. There's a few things to consider: If you're doing any sort of work that would be better on two monitors it's definitely useful to have a 2nd. The extra screen real estate can make a big difference (14" is a bit small, going up to 16" or 18" can provide a better/more comfortable gaming and browsing experience, in my opinion). The image quality will be FAR superior on OLED. Even more so because budget portable monitors are not great at colors. The OLED display renders at 3k, a 2k screen is a lot less pixels - so if you're running at screen resolution you will likely get higher FPS in-game on the 2k screen. I have a '24 G16 OLED, as well as a 2k 16" UPERFECT portable monitor. I can say that the OLED is a far better experience, and much more convenient (it's attached to the laptop, after all). Honestly I would say it comes down to what games you're playing, and what kind of performance you want/expect to get. If you're fine with the performance as it is now and don't want to sacrifice visual quality I would absolutely just stick with the laptop. If you're the type to care about smoothness above all else and want your fps as high as it can possibly go even at the expense of visual quality, grab the portable monitor. You could always try out the display and return it if you don't like it, if that's an option where you're at.

nice. i just got a uperfect 16" "gaming monitor" to use in the the same way, although vertical. been using dual 27" monitors for years, but found i really only use half the screen on the 2nd monitor really, mostly for email and notes and the occasional document/brief. figured i'd try and free up some desk space. i'm also a graphic designer so "the work" only really happens on my studio display in the middle. haven't set up the uperfect yet, i know its not as nice resolution out of the box, but since it's only really for "side items" i'm not overtly concerned about it. similarly priced, that arzopza looks pretty slick. the main reason i got the uperfect is barely any bezels and no "chin" chunk and no logo. it's basically just a rectangular screen. hope it does the trick! love your set up. nice posters and color scheme all around.

18” is too big for most backpacks so be careful. 16” is perfect honestly for travel. I use mine on my desk and couch so no backpack as I’m afraid it would bend and break easily. I have the 16” 1600p Uperfect one too and it’s solid.

Uperfect 16inc 2k is excellent for 120euro

I recommend the UPEFECT. I use mine for my ROG Ally and Samsung Dex setups.

I just picked up the k118, great so far.

AFAIK Mister doesn’t support that resolution so I’ve been using 2560x1440p and monitor set to 4:3, no freesync, no HDR (I’ll try this out), with my own filter settings. Sitting next to PVM it looks very close. With the monitor at 4:3 cores are squished horizontally until you change the core’s video option from original to fullscreen.

I haven't tried, so my advice is null. I think there's more value then a separate portable monitor that has a built in stand. Bonus if the stand supports a vertical orientation. I picked up a Uperfect 16 inch monitor recently and it's been awesome. Runs 144 on one USBC cable. Also I find with a separate keyboard and mouse I can vertical stack them.

it cant do 120 over mini hdmi? i have the 2k IPS version of this monitor from uperfect and it does 2k just fine, is the extra 1k really that much more taxing?

Im probably going to buy one myself. I have the ips variant from uperfect and I love everything except for the motion ghosting, so an OLED thats basically the same otherwise is huge for me. Plus im seeing t hem for 200$ which is kindof a bargain

I used a uperfect usb c monitor for about a minute and it worked. I don't know more than that as the monitor had a fault and I'm waiting on a replacement. I'd choose on Ali express, the 16inch 120hz portable OLED or the 13 inch 1080p 60hz OLED at around £200 and £100.
