I've noticed a lot of "portable" monitors popping up lately, some with really nice specs on paper. I decided to craft a layout that matches a 34" 1440p165hz OLED Ultrawide with 2x 16" 1200p120hz "portable" monitors on the sides. Using some basic measurements, I found that 16" monitors are almost the perfect height of a 27" 16:9 or a 34" 21:9 when mounted in portrait. This ended up working very well. I designed a custom wallpaper using Wallpaper Engine that has my old VHS-themed wallpaper design from my old setup, but has a rotating slow-pan-slideshow of stills from Studio Ghibli films to ensure uniform aging of my OLED. I go with a VHS theme due to my collection of VHS tapes and awesome CRT setup right nearby! I'm a little squeezed into the space I have after a recent move, but it's a really nice and cozy space to get immersed in some games. If you want to see more, check out this imgur gallery of a bunch more photos of the setup, including some of my favorite details, process photos, and CRT setup: [https://imgur.com/a/2025-pc-setup-upgrade-eRKVYfJ](https://imgur.com/a/2025-pc-setup-upgrade-eRKVYfJ)
The monitors are "UPERFECT" (?) brand, never heard of it. The are some [UPERFECT 16" 120hz ](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DG4SN4ZY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1)monitors from Amazon. Those two monitors are each on an [Amazon Basics mount arm](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DHK5DHN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). So far I have no complaints. There are more reputable brand-name portable monitors out there, but frequently go for 2-3x the price. My AW3423DW is on [this mount](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0859J9FYY?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_7) I've had for a while. With independent arms, it's easier to get things adjusted perfectly and keeps wobble to a minimum.
they're 180 degree adapters yes! Definitely necessary for clean cables. That's not the exact model monitor I have, but same brand. Also make sure you get the right HDMI 180 degree adapter, since it will depend on which direction the port is mounted on the monitor itself. usb-C doesn't matter because it's omnidirectional
They are ["UPERFECT" brand, some random thing from Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DG4SN4ZY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). There is no branding on the monitor itself, and I don't think UPERFECT was even printed on the box. The product itself is probably sold under like 10 different brand names. I have no complaints, but don't take that as an endorsement of the brand. Never heard of this brand before, but the displays perform exactly as I hoped. They were also packaged super nicely and came with way more accessories than I needed. Full-size HDMI is also a nice touch; a lot of portable monitors have mini-HDMI.
Can you link me one of those? I have a uperfect 16” 120hz ips with all broken buttons that frustrates me (I lent it and all buttons came back broken—but they are extremely flimsy anyways)
I recommend getting one that is bright (>400 nits or check reviews). Some of them are super dim and basically unusable in daylight. I wasted money on one before. I'm currently using one from UPERFECT, 400 nits and its pretty decent. FWIW I recently did an analysis on reddit data on portable monitors. Basically ranked them by aggregated sentiment. Maybe you'll find the results helpful [https://redditrecs.com/portable-monitor/](https://redditrecs.com/portable-monitor/)
Running into a similar issue with Uperfect monitors that claim 120hz+ but can't run that stable. I have to downgrade to 60hz. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of alternatives for something you can fit in a backpack. Curious to see responses.
Flipgo from Jsaux. I have two of the 16in version and a 16in laptop and a Ugreen 16in portable monitor, 6 screens altogether, all fit in a small backpack. For small stays I just take the Ugreen with me. Every screen is 1600p vertically, I could never use only one screen of 1080p like the one in the glasses some people suggest, not that I did not try it. Flipgo exists also in 14inch Edit: sorry Uperfect not Ugreen is the brand of my single portable monitor
