As an owner of 15.6 4K - I fully agree with you. Even FHD will be good for 15.6.
I can give you an advice - stay away from 4K 16" monitor. I have one (4K 15.6") and it's sitting somewhere in the drawer. Not used anyore. Although IPS matrix was great (from uperfectmonitor, their first 4K 15.6" product), I can no longer find any use for it now. For a text - it's too small, if you increate font size...you have big font on small screen. uperfect released some 22/24 4K recently, and that's the size I would recommend for 4K, so you can saely go with 15.6 but only up to FHD/QHD, not 4K.
I use a uperfect 15.6 4K and it's a great second monitor for my ipad pro. Charges my ipad, quite a bit more resolution than the one you linked. Currently running the updated ipados 26.1 which has some bugs but makes the combo very productive.
Yes its single cable and powered by my ipad. But I usually use the second usb c port to add external power so it charges my ipad instead of draining it.
I use a vertical monitor daily for code and documents, and getting the right size makes a huge difference. For a dedicated vertical display, the [Dell P2422H](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Dell+P2422H+24+1080p+monitor&language=en_US&tag=bestdeals202f-20&ref=as_li_ss_tl) at 24 inches is practically made for this - great stand with full rotation and height adjustment. If you want to try portable, the [Uperfect 15.6" 4K](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Uperfect+15.6+4K+portable+monitor&language=en_US&tag=bestdeals202f-20&ref=as_li_ss_tl) models are surprisingly good for text, though at 15.6 inches they're smaller than your range. Honestly for a permanent vertical setup, a standard monitor with a good ergonomic stand will serve you better than a portable one long term.
i ran into this same thing last month with my s23 ultra. for $100, the [Arzopa portable monitor](https://featherab.com/shopit?Arzopa+portable+monitor) is solid - 1080p, usb-c powered, no extra battery needed. the [UPERFECT 15.6](https://featherab.com/shopit?UPERFECT+15.6+portable+monitor) also hits that price on sale. both work one-cable for dex. just grab a cheap bluetooth keyboard and you're set. the arzopa is what i ended keeping
i feel you on the budget - i used a $90 portable monitor for a year with my note 20. the [Arzopa portable monitor](https://featherab.com/shopit?Arzopa+portable+monitor) is like $99 and runs off usb-c power from your phone. just make sure it supports alt mode display. another solid pick is the [UPERFECT 15.6](https://featherab.com/shopit?UPERFECT+15.6+monitor) - sometimes drops to $85 on sales. both will need a separate power bank if you want to keep your s23 charged while using them. i'd skip the no-name $60 ones, they flicker with dex.
espresso but is going to be expensive; or lg gram view+ or the uperfect and get some desk tripod? There's a few refurbished units on ebay selling for 100 bucks for the uperfect 4k 15.6". Kind of a gamble but at that price might as well try one. I ordered two this week waiting on them
I guess the answer is going to depend on how much stuff you're willing to haul around the lapdock is going to be the least amount of crap to carry, as it's a keyboard, trackpad, screen, battery, all in one package. you CAN get better stuff individually, but for the 200 budget, it's going to be tight.... the brand new nexdock is 200, and it's really pretty good. I'm really pretty happy with it. it has better screen and speakers and especially trackpad than previous versions IPS/high brightness/high resolution are all things you're not going to find on a lapdock they're all pretty basic 1080p60 screens (some are IPS, some are TFT). none of them are going to blow anyone away, but they're perfectly serviceable the uperfect udock 15.6 might have the best screen, as it's 1080p120, but it starts to get a bit large, compared to the others fwiw, I have ALL the lapdocks, I typically only travel with the nexdock 360 (wireless) for it's size and versatility at home, I pretty much always use the nexdock XL or the Uperfect 15.6 (they're functionally identical)
