These are in line for other portable monitors with similar characteristics, I paid 430€ for my Uperfect 17'3" 4k 120hz, and mine doesn't have any touch capabilities.
I have this one: https://uperfect.com/products/4k-60hz-monitor?variant=4062992010452, 120hz version. The image quality is impressive with the 259ppi
I use a UPerfect 17.3 inch 4k portable monitor on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro and have not had any problems but I also use an external power supply. The monitor has two USB-C ports and an HDMI port and can be hooked up to three devices and you can switch between display sources. I found, though, that when just powered by the MacBook Pro, that I'd get black screens from time to time. So I hooked it up to an external power source and the black screens went away. So you might want to use a separate power source anyways. I think that devices provide varying levels of power and any particular device might not provide enough.
I bought a Uperfect 17 inch 4k portable monitor for $289 a month ago from Amazon. I carry it with my M1 Pro MacBook Pro in my backpack and it's powered from my MacBook Pro and an additional USB-C 10 watt power supply. I use USB-C but it can also work via mini-HDMI. I also bought a case for it. You can pick up an M4 mini for $450 at Microcenter and then you'd need a keyboard and mouse and there are tons of options for those. So it is doable but you have the setup and teardown time. If you need to spend a lot of time in coffee shops, then it can be a pain - having to find an outlet and then packing up if you need to go to the bathroom. If it's home and work and your employer will provide monitor, keyboard and mouse, then you'd just need to carry the mini back and forth. Assuming you have a spare cord.
I have the UPerfect 17.3 inch 4k. It has a nice screen and is pretty bright but I usually use additional USB-C power or it can reset. It does not come with a built in cover/case which was annoying. I'd recommend getting something with a built in cover/case so that you don't need to get a padded case for protection. This particular monitor needs a pretty big bag to carry it in. I have an old Swissgear Carbon designed for the 17 inch MacBook Pro back in 2008 but many bags may be too small for it.
I bought a UPerfect 17.3 inch 4k portable monitor last year for $260. I received a discount for signing up for Amazon Prime which I later canceled. I prefer 4k displays as I have a setup that is 4k-orientd. I also have a Lenovo Yoga 14 inch with a 4K OLED display and I love it. You could argue that QHD is good on a portable monitor in the 13-17 inch range but it depends on your eyesight and what you're using it for. The 4k portable monitor that I use needs additional power - 10 watts is sufficient. The one I have goes up to 500 nits and it has two USB-C ports for power. I would go 4k unless you plan on using native resolution on QHD. I have a couple of old QHD iMacs and they look great but I run them at native resolution. For my work stuff, I use 4k or 5k monitors on the desktop.
I have a Uperfect 17.3 inch 4k and it works but, if I were to do it again, I'd buy one with a built-in cover. Portable monitors are really light these days but they feel pretty fragile too. Some portable monitors have a built-in cover that also acts like a stand and the cover provides protection for the screen so that you do not have to buy a case for it to put in your backpack or larger bag. The downside of a case is that it takes up more room in your bag. One note for using it with your MacBook: plug the portable monitor in first before plugging anything else in. The MacBooks provide 15 watts for the first thing you plug in and then 7.5 watts for any devices afterwards. This means that the port doesn't provide enough power to the monitor if you plugged in a mouse or flash drive first. I just debugged this yesterday as I had to bring a secondary power supply for the portable monitor before debugging this issue.
Just go on Amazon and search for portable monitor. I have a 17.3 inch 4k by UPerfect but there are lots of brands, sizes and resolutions.
I recommend getting one that is bright (>400 nits or check reviews). Some of them are super dim and basically unusable in daylight. I wasted money on one before. I'm currently using one from UPERFECT, 400 nits and its pretty decent. FWIW I recently did an analysis on reddit data on portable monitors. Basically ranked them by aggregated sentiment.
