I have the UPerfect 17.3 inch 4k. It has a nice screen and is pretty bright but I usually use additional USB-C power or it can reset. It does not come with a built in cover/case which was annoying. I'd recommend getting something with a built in cover/case so that you don't need to get a padded case for protection. This particular monitor needs a pretty big bag to carry it in. I have an old Swissgear Carbon designed for the 17 inch MacBook Pro back in 2008 but many bags may be too small for it.

I bought a UPerfect 17.3 inch 4k portable monitor last year for $260. I received a discount for signing up for Amazon Prime which I later canceled. I prefer 4k displays as I have a setup that is 4k-orientd. I also have a Lenovo Yoga 14 inch with a 4K OLED display and I love it. You could argue that QHD is good on a portable monitor in the 13-17 inch range but it depends on your eyesight and what you're using it for. The 4k portable monitor that I use needs additional power - 10 watts is sufficient. The one I have goes up to 500 nits and it has two USB-C ports for power. I would go 4k unless you plan on using native resolution on QHD. I have a couple of old QHD iMacs and they look great but I run them at native resolution. For my work stuff, I use 4k or 5k monitors on the desktop.

I have a Uperfect 17.3 inch 4k and it works but, if I were to do it again, I'd buy one with a built-in cover. Portable monitors are really light these days but they feel pretty fragile too. Some portable monitors have a built-in cover that also acts like a stand and the cover provides protection for the screen so that you do not have to buy a case for it to put in your backpack or larger bag. The downside of a case is that it takes up more room in your bag. One note for using it with your MacBook: plug the portable monitor in first before plugging anything else in. The MacBooks provide 15 watts for the first thing you plug in and then 7.5 watts for any devices afterwards. This means that the port doesn't provide enough power to the monitor if you plugged in a mouse or flash drive first. I just debugged this yesterday as I had to bring a secondary power supply for the portable monitor before debugging this issue.
