First answer to your question: I am using a 18 inch from Amazon, nothing fancy but does to the job if required (but I also sometimes use it as monitor on shoots). No answer to your question, but maybe worth a look at: GPD just recently launched a dual screen (2x 13 inch with 2.5k resolution each OLED, 10bit screens), 2 nvme slots, up to 64GB RAM, occulink for external GPU (although the 890m APU is fine for normal editing): https://gpd.hk/gpdduo

I use a 1080p one. I guess a bit higher screen resolution would be nice, but then again that is certainly my secondary screen (in Resolve) so it's not like I win a lot of space for the timeline here. For me that was enough.

Just looked it up (there is literally no brand name on the screen, so I had to go back to my orders...): Its a UPERFECT portable Monitor 18.5 Inch 120Hz.

Fantastic, thanks for posting this solution. I was searching for hours on a compatible stand for a 18" Uperfect portable monitor, and your solution fits the bill perfectly!

Been thinking about this monitor but in the 18" variant. I had an older version of this screen and sent it back as the build quality was really bad, we're talking about 3 years ago. How are they now? Also would it looks right in 1080p? Thanks

I tried to use an ipad as a second monitor and just couldn't do it. Being smaller than my laptop, it just wasn't helping at all other than being at eye level (which I can just do with the laptop). I ended up buying the UPERFECT 18 inch portable monitor. It's just the right size not too heavy and big enough to not lose productivity against my usual monitor. As for stands, so the UPERFECT portable monitor has an in built stand. But what I do is I prop it up on my Roost Laptop stand. So it's almost exactly eye level. And the roost stand is super light so amazing for travel. Highly recommend using a laptop stand. I considered a specifically "portable monitor stand" but they looked pricey and heavy. So glad I did this instead If you want I can take a photo tomorrow to show what I do. Also as someone else was saying, you really have to just try it yourself. I taped paper on my monitor to test if I could work with a 13 inch screen. Spoke to friends. The solution I ended with (and am super happy with) was not at all what I thought I'd do when I started thinking about it

I used a uperfect usb c monitor for about a minute and it worked. I don't know more than that as the monitor had a fault and I'm waiting on a replacement. I'd choose on Ali express, the 16inch 120hz portable OLED or the 13 inch 1080p 60hz OLED at around £200 and £100.

I recommend the UPEFECT. I use mine for my ROG Ally and Samsung Dex setups.
