I see people recommending raspberry pie monitors. I've tried one like this in the past. They work well but can be a little sketch in a pocket without a good case and at some point your going to run into an issue where the PC may only have a VGA port. That being said, Just about every Goodwill thrift store I've gone to has 15" old lcd monitors for under $10. Edit: If you need a portable monitor to throw in a backpack check this one out.
