I can run the one I have without external power and the Fold 5 runs it by itself. https://a.co/d/hAysmYA The thing I ran into is that it would not work with any old usbc cable. It needed to use the one that came with it. It might be a cable issue for you or the monitor you have is asking for more than the fold can provide.
