I recently bought a **ViewSonic VA1655** 15.6 Inch 1080p Portable IPS Monitor ( [https://www.viewsonic.com/us/va1655-15-6-portable-1080p-ips-monitor-with-usb-c-and-mini-hdmi.html](https://www.viewsonic.com/us/va1655-15-6-portable-1080p-ips-monitor-with-usb-c-and-mini-hdmi.html) ) for about $100. I'm pretty happy with it, especially as it has a built-in stand which can be used horizontal or vertical. I usually keep the monitor in the vertical orientation. The display is decent, but it's obviously not anywhere near as good as an Apple Retina display. But on the plus side, it's very lightweight and can be used with only one cable - USB-C. That doest the power and the display data. It also has HDMI, but I don't need it.
Full discussion on Reddit ->I have a Viewsonic 15.6” w/ 1080p. I paid less than $200 for it and it works with my 13” Framework, my work Thinkpad, and my wife’s MacBook. It doesn’t have a fancy magnetic stand like the one you linked (or some others on the market) or 4k, but it’s super useful on the go and connects with just one USB-C cable.
Full discussion on Reddit ->I use a viewsonic va1655 with my switch to play games on the go when I'm with my kid. You need a USB-C cable that supports video and you don't need the switch dock or HDMI cable to play. You also need to plug some kind of battery bank to power the screen. If the bank has enough output, the monitor can charge the switch too. On the plane, I have some long length of Paracord to use a hanger to hang the monitor off of the seat in front of me and the switch goes into the seat back pocket. Interestingly, the flight attendants don't make me put it away since it appears to be no different from an iPad.
Full discussion on Reddit ->I have a ViewSonic and it is made of metal and comes with a protective cover for the screen. Also has multiple types of input connectors (HDMI, USB C) so it is somewhat future proof. Used it for 2 years and still going strong. https://www.viewsonic.com/us/products/shop/monitors/portable-monitors.html
Full discussion on Reddit ->I own a ViewSonic monitor crafted from durable metal and equipped with a protective screen cover. It boasts various input connectors including HDMI and USB-C, ensuring compatibility with future devices. After two years of use, it continues to perform reliably and remains in excellent condition.
