Hi, I just bought myself a new portable 18" 2560x1600 144Hz capable monitor (only over USB-C! HDMI is limited to 120Hz) to use as a 3rd monitor (I picked this size because it lines up perfectly when used vertically with my 2x 32" monitors and being 16:10 seems good for productivity and there's no room for bigger 3rd display eitherway...) The monitor in question is [https://www.amazon.com/UPERFECT-Portable-2560x1600-FreeSync-Frameless/dp/B0C7Z3ZY3P?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/UPERFECT-Portable-2560x1600-FreeSync-Frameless/dp/B0C7Z3ZY3P?th=1) As you can see it's a rather feature packed monitor for its type and I can quickly say it's very good looking one at that image quality-wise too. It has 2x USB-C ports and one mini-HDMI and includes 2x USB-C -> USB-C cables and one Mini-HDMI to HDMI cable and comes with a power adapter that is designed to be powered through one of the USB-C ports (the other one is for video/audio) Anyway to my question, due to my GPU having only one HDMI port and I already use that port for my 2ndary display/TV and Displayport for my main monitor I'd have to convert the inputs one way or another and figured USB-C to DisplayPort cable seems like the best option. To my suprise I also found out about bidirectional USB-C to DisplayPort cables, what does that mean in case I'd opt for with this monitor you think, I mean why do the manufacturer even opt for dual USB-C inputs if it could be done both power and video/audio in one cable or I guess DisplayPort wasn't perhaps its targeted market being a portable display? Any ideas if it will even work or do you still think I'd need to run unidirectional for video/audio and still plug in the 2nd USB-C input for power on the monitor? Any advise greatly appreciated. Also if this would indeed work with 1 cable only, can you recommend any particular high quality bidirectional USB-C to DisplayPort cable, I'd rather pay a bit too much for something that is built like a tank than having to worry about fire hazards...
Full discussion on Reddit ->I bought myself this portable monitor here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364699574462 For me it does its job very well. I wanted a higher resolution than fhd and something bigger than 15,6". This monitor also comes with a magnetic cover to protect the panel.
Full discussion on Reddit ->Pretty good so far, the only annoyance I've found is that since it doesn't have any built in battery you can't use HDMI without plugging in power. This also causes the brightness to reset every time and it starts up with the lowest brightness so I have to put up with that every time I unplug it. Not too terrible though.
