Daniel from Active Stacks here. Active Stacks beef protein powder and collagen peptide powders are tested for heavy metals. Very simple ingredient lists too. For example: Hydrolyzed beef protein isolate, cocoa (processed with alkali), glycine, stevia leaf extract (Reb A). Since these protein powders use beef as the base that avoids one of the standard vectors for heavy metals that plant-based proteins often suffer from: plant uptake of soil heavy metals. A lot of the news coverage about heavy metals and protein powders fails to properly explain the source of the metals. Choosing animal-based protein powders goes a long way towards reducing or eliminating heavy metals as a concern for daily protein powder consumption IMO.
It really depends on individual context and preference. The positives I hear and/or have experienced related to beef protein that make it worth the cost for some are: \- Easy to digest (no tummy pain, no gas or bloating) \- Smoother, creamier texture (not gritty or chalky) \- Non dairy (still animal based but dairy free, good for those sensitive to dairy proteins) \- Great taste (for chocolate beef protein people describe it as "chocolate milk" "Wendy's Frosty" "Brownie" etc) \- Beef isolate protein includes collagen peptides which are associated with good skin and hair health (I've been told some hair stylists can see the difference after their clients start using collagen peptides)
Stop forcing the whey! It’s not worth the misery. Look into beef protein isolate instead. It’s dairy-free but isn't gritty like pea protein. I use Active Stacks chocolate flavor, it’s super smooth and has never upset my stomach. 22g of protein for like 100 calories
Similar here but I use active stacks beef protein powder (chocolate). Have been looking for an unflavoured option so may have to try equip! Also take collagen but I do count it.
Try Active Stacks if you want something tested and minimal. It's beef protein isolate, so no whey or pea fillers. Ingredient list's short and they do testing for heavy metals too
Active Stacks. I love their vanilla one, it's like cereal milk
Vegan powders tasted rough to me too. Beef isolate protein worked better. I use Active Stacks and it’s easy to drink and doesn’t wreck my stomach
Active Stacks beef protein powder is amazing. It’s dairy-free and not plant-based, so it skips the pea protein problem. Chocolate flavor’s actually good if you mix it with almond milk
Active Stacks protein powder. I mix it with my coffee and some creamer.
ProDough Vanilla Bean or I also love Active Stacks Vanilla which tastes malty. (Active Stacks is beef protein powder and delicious.) I'm also a fan of Clean Simple Eats Vanilla which works well.
