All max unflavored on Amazon.
Allmax Isonatural with stevia instead of artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols is what I use.
AllMax Isonatural unflavored is pricey but the best regarding purity and ingredients. Most of the wheys like the gold standard have Stevia in them which I can’t stand. I sometimes get the AllMax IsoFlex Vanilla.
allmax strawberry.. only water
I have been using Allmax
Fairing är the GOAT. Kvaliteten i topp.
Ascent whey or isopure but isopure is a bit more expensive since its pure isolate. I also like the allmax whey as well.
revolution always has something on discount and it rotates between amazon and thier own store. they make highwhey, which is cut with whey concentrate and milk protein concentrate. so im not to worried. it;s like how canadaprotein will be expensive until black friday. i typically buy what I think will last me the year or a season depending on my expenses and so I jump around a few brands. the stuff usually has a shelf life of 2 years so im never worried.
it's $45 per 5 pounds. each serving is 25grams of protein (whey) if you remove the shaker cups from the cost you are looking at a better deal but just for the sake of ease... 5 pounds is 2267.96 grams. divide it by the serving size 35 for 64.8 servings. each serving is 25grams so that's 1619.97 grams of protein. 45 dollars divided by 64.8 = 69 cents per serving. or 69 cents for 25 grams of protein. whey is already a high absorption rate, complete protein. the difference between it and the purer forms is negligible for the average person. average person isn't gonna go ham with bulk purchases that will make this a bad deal and even then you are shaving cents if you get a better deal. this is basically 4 months and a week of protein for $100 (scoop a day) when i did the math this was cheaper than quality beef. chicken, and on sale cheese per gram of protein. pork is cheaper, especially on sale but that's not the point here. I will always argue eating food is better than any supplement unless you are a body builder, elite athlete, or taking medication that demands higher protein yields like steroids or glp-1 as well as anyone with eating disorders/medical needs. BUT if we are just comparing protein powders for general public... this is a great entry point as you get 2 flavors and a shaker cup to make em in.
i'm not worried about lead. you can't avoid that stuff and there are medical tolerance levels per kg or body weight per day anyways. and the tested levels of most protein powders are so low to non existent that the rice you eat is a bigger concern. and the filler is subjective. 5 grams of sugar while i'm working out actually helps me with my pump as it ensures mid set that I get more glucose into my muscles faster (I drink Before I work out if I'm feeling like having a shake). so 35grams . 25 is protein, 5 is sugar. 5 for everything else including the gums and other things the other powders have. meh.
i looked at the bag. it contains isolates. yes it has more concentrate and the blend also includes milk protein in lower amounts but it also contains lactase to help digest it and the carbs are important because when we work out we use glucose to feed the muscles and the fast absorption rate means we can work out a lil harder and recover a lil faster depending on when we take it. I have not been bloated or gassy drinking this and I generally consume lactose free dairy (not an endorsement for lactose intolerant people. we are all different) I have gotten bloated from Allmax branded stuff though.
the whole "don't drink before or during the workout" concept has been BS for me and many people I know. In college I almost always worked out on a full stomach (typically a 6 egg breakfast alongside meat cheese and potatos and toast.) then after the work out it was chocolate milk and a double chocolate donut. You gotta go hard sure but some people go way too hard and that writing on the package is marketing to protect thier image. just about all protein powders have gums/sweetners and other junk. the main difference is how pure the protein source is. I don't see this as a point of contention here in regards to bloating. I understand the point cause xantham gum does effect me poorly it's just... well given who should be taking protein powder... not an issue for most people. discussing milk proteins as a potential negative when whey itself is milk protein... wierd. and I said what I did about the sugars because it's a general thing not so much that the sugar here makes an impact. but that helps my argument because that just illustrates how inconsequential the 5 grams of sugar here is. no point in avoiding this stuff cause it has sugar. Now if this was getting spiked with maltodextrin then we'd have a point of agreeance. At the end of the day: if you can drink milk, you can have this without issue. I expect the person drinking a milk based protein shake can have milk. if you are lactose intolerant or have an allergy I'd expect you to find albumin or vegan sources. or better yet understand how needless protein powder is as a whole and just eat a diet that supports your needs (very easy to do considering how little most people actually need)
it's not 3 grams of protein given the listing of ingredients and the advertised amino acid profile. While I agree about the integrity and truth of a product. I was never talking about it being a good thing. Just negligible in the sense of actual macros, especially in the context of getting a proper diet between the shakes to compliment any discrepancies you may have. people love to talk in absolute A vs B ways but you gotta think of the whole picture of the actual discussion and the weight of the reality of a situation. There's a reason revolution now does a blend of sources. and according to the label it has enough luciene for it's protein amount and does not source amino acids as an actual ingredient (I have the bag right here) so yes they are cheapening out but it's legit enough.
I bought 2 so I had a years worth of protein. I hate the bags. they are too small for the powder and are filled to the brim. the moment you try to open it a plume comes out that will choke you out. then reclosing the bag is difficult cause protein powder is stuck to it and the filled amount makes it difficult to reclose without more plumes and struggle. I've made sure to only open them outside from now on and will dump them into a larger, 6 pound protein container I had previously.
