Working through a bag of vanilla bean right now, I like it, best vanilla protein I’ve ever had.
Ascent vanilla is pretty terrible imo. Worse than Kirkland and ON and overpriced. I bought it on sale recently and dredding going through it
I also use Ascent from Costco, vanilla flavor. It was $10 off this last weekend, usually $50 for 4 lbs. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard has some garbage ingredients btw. The best protein is Transparent Labs but it’s more expensive for less protein.
I’ve found it challenging to find cheap protein powder without a bunch of crap ingredients. I do workout so I use whey protein isolate, which is superior to concentrate. But it may not matter as much for you. Sprouts makes great protein powder, both pea and whey. I’ve recently found Ascent protein powder at Walmart that I’m happy with, get the vanilla flavor. Or you can use things like almonds, avocado and peanut butter in your smoothie and forgo powder all together. Greek yogurt is also great to use. I just started putting Oikos vanilla Greek yogurt in my smoothies and they taste like milkshakes. So good.
Ascent, vanilla flavor, from Costco is the best quality for the price out there. It’s 4lbs for $50, last week it was in sale at $40. Transparent Labs is the best imo but it’s more expensive for less product.
Eh, I’m not a fan of unflavored powder. I use vanilla flavored Ascent protein powder from Costco and I think it tastes pretty good, while having pretty good ingredients. I want to try Transparent Labs protein but it’s more expensive for less product so I haven’t yet.
A pickle chaser, interesting. Anyway, it’s worth the few extra minutes to blend protein powder into a shake. I use Ascent vanilla pp from Costco, frozen bananas, cacao powder, a bit of coffee, greek yogurt, milk, spinach and ice. Obv you don’t have to use this many items. It comes out like a milkshake and is my favorite thing to eat everyday. It’s delicious. And lately I’ve been putting in leftover Reeses Valentines candy and it’s the best treat ever.
Ascent from Costco. 4lbs for $50. (I’ve gotten it for $40 on sale.) You won’t find a better quality protein for the price and quantity. No artificial sweeteners or junk like Optimum Nutrition, which they also have at Costco. It’s mostly isolate but does have a little concentrate, so if you are sensitive to lactose it might not be for you but I like it.
I get the Ascent protein from Costco. It does have some whey concentrate but no artificial sweeteners or junk like ON Gold Standard. It tastes good, has pretty good ingredients and is the best quality protein out there for the price and quantity.
I haven't used any unflavored powder yet. Will try that soon. Levels appears to be one of the cleanest out there (IMHO) versus others. And since I use Costco so much, it's great that they stock it. (albeit, not however, in every store it seems) Would be great if they stocked other flavors, but happy they have two. They do the same with Ascent, only one in stock (vanilla bean). Cheers.
Ascent by a mile. ON full of unnecessary ingredients harmful to gut health, two different kinds of artificial sweeteners including Sucralose which is just horrible. ON Chocolate Ingredients: Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Hydrolyzed Whey Protein), Cocoa Powder (Processed With Alkali), Natural and **Artificial Flavor,** Sunflower And/Or **Soy Lecithin**, Salt, Creamer (**Sunflower Oil, Maltodextrin, Modified Food Starch**, Dipotassium Phosphate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Tocopherols), **Acesulfame Potassium**, **Sucralose**. Ascent Vanilla: Whey Protein Isolate Blend (Native Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate), Whey Protein Concentrate, Natural Flavors, Lecithin, Stevia Leaf Extract, Sea Salt. Also be aware that Cocoa has Theobromine which is a stimulant with longer half life than caffeine - if you are planning to consume in the evening then it can adversely affect sleep in sensitive folks
Just bought some Ascent protein from Costco. Vanilla flavored tastes amazing mixed into non fat plain Greek yogurt. The Ascent protein has 25g of protein and 120 cal. One serving of Greek yogurt has 18g of protein and 100 cal. So easy 43 grams of protein for only 220cals. I eat this minimum 2x a day.
