Finally a topic I know a bit about :) I get the Vanilla Maple Protein Matrix from Bulk Nutrients and mix it into my overnight oats (handy because I can make a few in advance while I have motivation). It's 24g of protein per scoop and makes it taste kinda like pancakes. Bulk nutrients protein powders aren't that amazing taste wise by themselves but they are serviceable and cheaper than others and they normally offer flavour sample packs to try. The Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey is like the baseline for decent protein powders at 24g of protein per scoop and tastes pretty good. Protein bars are expensive and hit or miss in terms of taste/calories vs protein. The Grenade white chocolate Oreo bars are probably the best tasting protein bar I've had at 20g of protein but they're expensive. The Bulk Nutrients protein bars are actually pretty good at 20g of protein but the taste and texture is pretty basic. If you have a Costco nearby the Premier Protein Shakes are reasonably priced and taste pretty good at 30g of protein. But I am used to protein shakes so your mileage my vary lol. I've also had some of the Up&Go Energize boxes that are pretty decent at around 17g of protein but again your tastes may vary. Other than that, good old eggs on toast is pretty good and quick. A couple of large eggs is about 12g of protein.
I have matrix plus in an overnight oat with almond milk. I don't do well with dairy either and it works for me. Oats don't seem to have as many after-taste problems either
This person has no idea what they're talking about. 85% is pretty good for a blend, it's higher than the one they're recommending. There's nothing wrong with silicone dioxide in food you're not breathing in silica, and it's not glass it's quartz, that's like saying sand and glass are the same thing. It's used as an anti caking agent and occurs naturally in vegetables and is completely safe in small quantities. None of the things they're complaining about here are a health issue in the levels you would be consuming in a protein powder.
That's not their blend, that's their WPC. This is their blend https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/protein-matrix Whey Protein Concentrate (Milk) (Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin)), Amino Blend, Micellar Casein (Milk), Whey Protein Isolate (Milk) (Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin)), Flavouring, **Xanthan Gum**, Sweetener (Sucralose), Lactase Enzyme. The highest protein content is their vanilla at 81.3%. I'm not shitting on bulk nutrients, I've been buying from them for almost a decade. I'm pointing out that the person who brought this up has no idea what they're talking about.
85% of pretty good for a blend
BulkNutrients Protein Matrix is another good option for a split protein source 33/33/33% WPI/WPC/Casein
Shame though they just increased their prices a few $ not long ago.
Bulk Nutrients Rocky Road flavour is thee best!
They have to be bots. Every post about protein powders they just come in droves. They might be good but it's so bloody expensive I don't even think it's worth trying. I love my bulk nutrients vanilla maple
I like Bulk Nutrients too. I'm currently getting through a bag of the Vanilla Maple. 😋
Nutrition warehouse (and I think Elite supps) will do taste tests in-store so that you can try their products before buying. Most of the good quality Australian brand whey proteins in come from the same farms operated by Fontana (the label will most likely say either New Zealand or grass fed, but you can also ask). The quality is amazing and it’s grass fed. The main difference between brands is just the flavours they use. Brands that use the New Zealand grass fed whey are: True protein (not Australian but still good quality), Anabolix, Genetix, International Protein. Protein Supplies Australia has good quality protein that’s easy to digest as well, but they use a different farm. If you go for cheaper brands, or American, they won’t be the New Zealand/ grass fed, which means they are more prone to causing inflammation in the digestive system because of how the cows are fed. Those brands are: Optimum nutrition, Rule 1, EHP labs, Bulk Nutrients, Maxine’s. Another thing that helps, is having digestive enzymes added into the formula, there’s quite a few brands that do this now. The ingredients will list Digezyme, or probiotics.
