Try Canadian Protein instead. This is a whey blend whereas Canadian Protein sells a concentrate as well as an isolate. They routinely have discounts on their website and you can buy directly from them. I've tried a lot of different whey isolate protein powders and their quality is pretty good.

If Costco keeps it in stock, I’d be more than happy to pick it up from them in-store. $60 for 5lb Whey isolate is a steal!!!

I'm with you on the container. It's pretty bad. I have to clear the zippers very often otherwise it doesn't close properly. Also, I bought some supplements from them which they ship in similar Ziploc bags. One of them already fell apart and I had to find a jar for it. Their regular price is quite high not but I've found that the price during sales isn't too bad (almost every other month they have sales). Also, if you look under the rewards section in your online account, you actually get a lot of rewards points for each order. So that helps reduce the price on the next order a bit. Even the subscribe and save option isn't bad if you've got a good consistent cadence for using the powder.

Backed. I have loved Canadian Protein for years. I checked my order from 2024 and the price has nearly doubled. The taste is top tier for their chocolate milkshake, even with water.

Unflavoured just means there's no flavour added to it, it's just the natural flavour of the whey. Tasting notes vary hugely between people, they have sample packs so you can just try a bunch without committing to a bag.  The Canadian Protein ones I tried 2 years ago were New Zealand Whey concentrate, New Zealand Whey isolate, whey protein isolate, hydrolysed whey protein isolate, premium whey blend, premium whey isolate, egg white protein powder.  Some were absolutely vile (to me, plenty of other people don't mind the taste), others almost disappeared if you mixed them into hot chocolate or a smoothie. From my tasting notes, the hydrolysed whey and premium whey isolate disappeared the best in chocolate milk. New Zealand Whey and whey isolate worked basically fine mixed with lemonade. The other combinations had varying levels of milky/chalky/vomity/weird taste to me but that's very individual.

Canadian Protein is the best I've had & I've been a regular buyer since early 2022. Prices have skyrocketed but sign up for their deals, and do the rewards, and always buy around a stat holiday as there will usually be a deal. I've had the isolate, and the concentrate & the flavours are good as standalone drinks, or if you want to mix it into something like oatmeal, or yogurt. Texture is great too and easy to digest without much bloating (for me).

Premium unflavoured tastes like UHT milk, the shelf stable version of milk, but slightly less offensive. If you’ve ever had UHT, you don’t forget it. Not enjoyable at all. I tried making my own flavours with it and ended up having to add a ludicrous amount of add ins to make it palatable to drink as a shake. I stick with flavoured versions for shakes and add the unflavoured 1:1 just to use it up.

The Costco one tasted horrible compared to the isolate I've had from their website, completely turned me off from buying from them

The only one I like from them that isnt too sweet is the vanilla. The vegan is terrible. Its gritty and doesnt blend. My main issue with them is the high minimum for free shipping.

I almost exclusively use unflavoured unsweetened protein powder, I really like Canadian Protein (they do ship elsewhere if you are not Canadian). It's a really solid product and they have different lines for different preferences and budgets, they put really good sales on from time to time, and you can access the batch test analysis for every bag you purchase. They do also have some really yummy flavours too, I like buying their little sample packs so I can try lots of different ones without committing to a whole bag.
