Its the cheapest whey protein you can get in Canada, and Costco sells it cheaper than the manufacturer. We always stock up when its on sale because I usually have it as my afternoon snack at work to hit protein goals. Taste is alright, very artificial sweetener tasting but its fine. The gum they use in it makes it very thick when you mix it with greek yogurt. Doesn’t mix that well compared to other brands like Canadian Protein. It is also much thicker and lumpier. A shaker bottle and letting it sit for a bit can help for this. Sort of the best bang for buck, but not especially premium. We splurge a little for 2 Pure from Chokolat in Calgary because it has no gums and mixes very well with greek yogurt. But its 2.5x the price of Leanfit.
Leanfit whey protein isnt great for typical gym go-ers (EAA mix). They also don't mix all that well. Have to talk about the whey isolate, in which case this is better priced.
I use lean fit whey protein from costco as its cheapest where I live. In a 33 gram scoop, it has: 3.5g of fat, 24g of protein, 115mg cholesterol, 125mg sodium. Anyone know if that’s decent? Edit: just looked up the stats of the gold standard (55$ per kg) and the stats are so close to what I use and I’m paying 24$ per kg, and mines got less cholesterol which I’m pretty sure is a win.
The leanfit is a whey blend. Meaning it mixes a whey concentrate and a whey isolate together. When you start getting into a straight whey isolate prices increase almost double. Isolate is more refined and packs more protein per scoop. For instance that leanfit is 72.7% protein per scoop when you jump up into an isolate product you can get into the 90% protein per scoop. Whether or not that’s important to you is your decision
Leanfit (2nd version) is the cheapest but one scoop doesn't have enough leucine to trigger muscle protein synthesis completely. You need 2.5g leucine in a meal with protein to completely trigger MPS but leanfit only has 1.88g so you'd probably need a scoop and a half. Just something that I think is important if your trying to maximize progress like I'm atleast.
Get the other one that costco carries. White packaging. Leanfit Whey Protein. Almost same micros. Much cheaper and I find better tasting.
