well I guess we can chalk up the disagreement to lack of specificity. "Optimum Gold Protein Powder" isn't listed in the consumer reports article (unless I am blind, which may in fact be the case). There are two Optimum products listed: * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein Shake - not recommended * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - recommended If I've missed one or miscategorized one I'll edit my post right away, but I believe I've got them listed correctly.
Careful - Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein Shake is listed under "occasionally" and their Gold Standard 100% Whey is listed under "better choices for daily consumption". Kudos on calling out Muscle Tech as having no limit on safe consumption. I missed that and grouped it with the rest of the ones in the same category.

I use Momentous whey isolate, and have it on auto ship. It’s basically my standard breakfast now. I pair it with collagen peptides, chia, protein milk, sometimes half a frozen banana and call it done. I get 40 grams of protein in when I need 100 to 130 grams a day. I’m T2 diabetic and on MJ since December last year so I keep it really clean. No added sugar, no junk ingredients. Most powders are basically dessert with a lot of filler. Also I’m just not that hungry in the morning anymore, so this is an easy way to get protein in without forcing a full meal. Keeps things steady and simple.
I use Momentous unflavored whey isolate. It’s NSF for sport certified and blends well. Kind of pricey, but I like the testing. I also keep a bag of Ascent Whey in Chocolate for when I want a treat. Tastes like a liquid cookie to me.

I use Momentous unflavored and mix it with berries, Greek yogurt, banana, and soy milk for breakfast. Haven’t found a flavored powder I can rave about, but will use ascent in a pinch.
I prefer whey since I think it is the most effective. Whey concentrate upset my stomach some so I switched to Isolate which reconciled the issue. Agreed Optimum Nutrition is good. I use Thorne supplements but in all transparency I also rep them. I also like Momentous. Whatever supplements I use, I do like them to be NSF certified since the supplement world doesn’t have much oversight.
