Pea protein is an incomplete source of protein and tastes horrible..... Try blend ... As of now I can suggest you nacpro plant protein chocolate flavour... Vanila one also tastes like shit.... I don't recommend buying pea protein.... Or buy amul buttermilk or lassi you will get 15g protein and good for gut and good probiotic ( mainly buttermilk) that will also cost around 750 rupees for 30 days... ( Amul buttermilk also tastes bad but can use it as dahi and make chat out of it little better , donot know about lassi donot personally tried it )...
Pea protein tastes like shit ...like mud... Even in nakpro you will taste the pea but because of the chocolate flavour and other additives it is still better...if you want just protein buy amul buttermilk milk 15g + add 2 more egg 10-12g.... You can just see the taste review in the previous posts on reddit....
I recently went down a complete rabbit hole trying to choose a plant protein. What started as “which one should I buy?” turned into comparing ingredients, reading labels, watching reviews… and honestly, overthinking the hell out of it. So I made this tier list to simplify things. **What I based it on:** * Ingredient quality (sweeteners, additives, etc.) * Price vs value * Taste (because you actually have to drink it) **Tiers:** **S:** Cosmix, The Whole Truth, Origin, OWN **A:** YogaBar (only flavoured), Open Secret **B:** Naturaltein, Nutrabox, Sparkfusion, OZiva **C:** Nakpro (pea and brown rice), Fast&Up, MuscleBlaze **Quick breakdown:** * S tier → cleanest, but expensive (except OWN) * A tier → best balance (what most people should buy) * B tier → decent, but slight compromises * C tier → budget / not very clean One thing I realised: You’re not just buying protein, you’re buying branding and positioning. If anyone’s curious, I wrote a more detailed breakdown here: [Ranking Best Plant Protein Powders in India: Only List You Need](https://breathbadminton.com/best-plant-protein-powder-india-ranking/) Also happy to hear what you guys are using. I’m still experimenting myself.
You're right, label reading isn’t everything. Lab testing matters for things like actual protein %, contaminants, etc. But most brands in India don’t publish consistent batch-wise reports. My ranking was based on ingredients + formulation + price, not full lab verification. Ideally you want both: clean ingredients + third-party testing. We rarely get both perfectly here yet. Except maybe OWN & TWT.
I tried YogaBar’s unflavoured plant protein and honestly almost puked. Before that, I was using unflavoured whey from The Whole Truth, and it was almost like drinking plain water, very easy to consume. Plant protein is very different though. The taste and texture are much harsher, so I’m not sure unflavoured plant protein is worth buying at all.
Nah, the protein itself isn’t bad. Nakpro is actually fine, especially since it’s been tested. The main issue is taste and digestibility for some people, not quality. If you’re able to take it with a banana shake and it works for you, that’s honestly perfect.
That’s fair tbh, Naturaltein is definitely one of the better ones in the B tier. I actually liked their ingredient profile too, especially compared to budget options. And yeah, the higher protein % does make it look better value on paper. The only reason I didn’t put it in S tier was because I was prioritizing minimal / no-additive formulations. Naturaltein still uses flavouring systems and a few extras, whereas S tier for me was more about “as close to nothing added as possible”. But honestly, if you’re enjoying the taste and consistency, that matters way more for long-term use. It’s easily one of the better practical choices.
I'm a student so got the nakpro plant protein(pea+brown rice) as its the cheapest possible that's also trustified certified. Any opinions on the specific product?
If whey gave you bloating, shifting to plant protein makes sense, but I’d be a bit careful with cheap soy isolates they’re hit or miss in terms of taste, mixability, and trust factor. Nutrabox isn’t very widely reviewed, so unless you find solid third-party lab reports, I’d personally avoid making it your main protein. If you liked Only Whats Needed, it’s honestly worth waiting or restocking it’s cleaner and easier on digestion. Meanwhile, you can check options like BigMuscles Real Plant Protein, AsItIs Plant Protein, or Nakpro Plant Protein or you can also go for Superyou ka yeast protein, all usually fall close to your budget and are more tried/tested in India. Taste-wise, chocolate variants are safest. Also since you’re taking it with 500ml milk, digestion can still feel heavy try half milk + half water once and see if that helps.
yeah got excited that they were cheap and ordered like pea and brown rice protein powders from nakpro and as it is nutrition, and guess what? they tasted horrible, I still have those powders rotting down in my room, and I still have to find the best use case scenarios, I made DIY protein bars, turned out to be great, so will use it for that mostly.
All plant protein powder will taste chalky, but if you haven’t ever tasted whey I think it should be good. Nak pro plant protien is third party lab tested and tastes decent and is priced well too. Cosmix and Earthful have similar ingredients and both are decent too, Superyou is good (I have unflavoured yeast protein that I use in Daal, dahi, etc.) cosmix has rice and pea as well as yeast version.
Because they use natural identical flavours and sucralose as sweetner. Also no. of serving is 28
I think liver doc has tested and verified it
Nakpro plant protein tastes really good and is affordable too, or am I missing out on something?
