I recently went down a complete rabbit hole trying to choose a plant protein. What started as “which one should I buy?” turned into comparing ingredients, reading labels, watching reviews… and honestly, overthinking the hell out of it. So I made this tier list to simplify things. **What I based it on:** * Ingredient quality (sweeteners, additives, etc.) * Price vs value * Taste (because you actually have to drink it) **Tiers:** **S:** Cosmix, The Whole Truth, Origin, OWN **A:** YogaBar (only flavoured), Open Secret **B:** Naturaltein, Nutrabox, Sparkfusion, OZiva **C:** Nakpro (pea and brown rice), Fast&Up, MuscleBlaze **Quick breakdown:** * S tier → cleanest, but expensive (except OWN) * A tier → best balance (what most people should buy) * B tier → decent, but slight compromises * C tier → budget / not very clean One thing I realised: You’re not just buying protein, you’re buying branding and positioning. If anyone’s curious, I wrote a more detailed breakdown here: [Ranking Best Plant Protein Powders in India: Only List You Need](https://breathbadminton.com/best-plant-protein-powder-india-ranking/) Also happy to hear what you guys are using. I’m still experimenting myself.
You're right, label reading isn’t everything. Lab testing matters for things like actual protein %, contaminants, etc. But most brands in India don’t publish consistent batch-wise reports. My ranking was based on ingredients + formulation + price, not full lab verification. Ideally you want both: clean ingredients + third-party testing. We rarely get both perfectly here yet. Except maybe OWN & TWT.
I've kept Nutrabox in B tier mainly because of the flavouring system and additives. Good product, but not minimalist enough for S tier in my criteria. Nutrabay is similar. Their unflavoured isolates are quite clean, but most flavoured options are more like “wellness blends” with added extras. So yeah, both are solid, just not simple enough for S tier.
I tried YogaBar’s unflavoured plant protein and honestly almost puked. Before that, I was using unflavoured whey from The Whole Truth, and it was almost like drinking plain water, very easy to consume. Plant protein is very different though. The taste and texture are much harsher, so I’m not sure unflavoured plant protein is worth buying at all.
That’s fair tbh, Naturaltein is definitely one of the better ones in the B tier. I actually liked their ingredient profile too, especially compared to budget options. And yeah, the higher protein % does make it look better value on paper. The only reason I didn’t put it in S tier was because I was prioritizing minimal / no-additive formulations. Naturaltein still uses flavouring systems and a few extras, whereas S tier for me was more about “as close to nothing added as possible”. But honestly, if you’re enjoying the taste and consistency, that matters way more for long-term use. It’s easily one of the better practical choices.
Naturaltein plant protein ( rice and pea protein) 300gms of chicken from breast ( ribcage and single wing bones ) and no skin 2 whole eggs Fishoil Naturaltein Magnesium glycinate
Have tried Nakpro, Naturaltein, Cosmix, Happycultures, Mavia, Yogabar, Nutrabay, Aceblend and also tasted TWT
I'd say try for the sample packs u get it on Blinkit to make the best decision. I really liked Mavia and happycultures (provided you get them at the right price) Nakpro Vanilla plant protein is really good, esp with yoghurt, honey and berries. TWT chocolate was good but I'd never pay that much price for a plant Protein Naturaltein plant protein is okay, not bad, chocolate flavour is good Superyou coffee is decent. There are actually so many of them which I've tried but can't even remember now
I too ordered this Coffee flavoured, for me it sucked😵 Like literally started 1.5 scoop just to finish it asap. That after taste was unbearable for me. I am a regular user of Naturaltein's Pea Protein - mostly chocolate flavor, that is good (if you wanna try sometime). Recently shifted to Nutrabay Gold Whey - kesar pista flavor, taste is SUPERB, a little costly but if you can spend, try this for once!
I think naturaltein should be in S tier. All their ingredients are fine, it tastes great, mixability is good & the coffee version has 78% protein which makes it even cheaper than OWN. I'm using it right now.
I follow pinktigerstamp and they examine the protein powders of all kinds through verified 3rd party sources and from there I got to know about Naturaltein plant protein in chocolate flavour, a bit heavy for me but anyway I completed that. Now I am taking func lab plant protein in coffee flavour and it's really light, not chalky. I suggest you to go through their reccos and try as a lot of brands are so shady with lead and what not addition. I haven't tried whey or yeast tho.
