This assumes we're talking Whey Protein Isolate. That is ordinarily what people want, although there are niche uses for e.g. casein and Whey Protein Concentrate. Concentrate is gonna be cheapest per gram but will only be like 60% protein. It'll also include fat and lactose that you probably don't want. There is also WP Hydrolysate, which is really expensive and probably not better than Isolate, and proteins from other sources (like peas, and soy). So Optimum Nutrition is probably the right choice. Unlike other proteins it's available from a ton of different retailers and so you can shop around aggressively. It's also third-party tested and genuinely high-quality. The stuff that's cheaper isn't consistently cheaper but is consistently worse or harder to get. The reason you see ON everywhere is that it's excellent quality and excellent value. If you don't want ON for whatever reason, Nutricost is a good second choice. Their unflavored WP Isolate is consistently inexpensive, and Nutricost products are third-party lab tested and have a well-earned reputation for quality.
nutricost whey protein isolate. It is 100% pure whey protein, no additives, also the lowest cost per g of protein that I have found. It tastes like.... whey protein, but I usually mix it into stuff like oatmeal, smoothies, and what not, so flavor isn't a big deal.
Nutricost (available on Amazon, third party tested) is my go to - whey isolate for fast absorption, casein for slow. I get unflavored and use an electrolyte stick, or I chug and chase - it's not terrible.
Nutricost Whey Protein Isolate powder mixed with water. My favorite flavor is mocha, sometimes I’ll mix it with brewed coffee too. The isolate mixes more smoothly than any protein powder I’ve ever found. Way cheaper than individual bottles and takes 30 seconds to make. Just buy some shaker bottles.
One thing I’ve learned is that you should mix with milk, almond milk, or even a bit of peanut butter for flavor if the powder itself is plain. Adding frozen fruit or cocoa powder can make it way more palatable. Also pls don’t fall for any overmarketed bs on tiktok or any ‘trending’ powders that don’t have real nutrition backing, stick to brands with lab-tested ingredients and clear protein counts. The one you got is a decent pick actually, tastes good and mixes well. It’s whey isolate so you get a pretty clean protein hit. [Nutricost’s powder](https://noxohub.github.io/radar/?q=OGJ83471) is also a good one, similar to willah, just cheaper.
My research has lead me to concentrate on the highest % of whey protein isolate per scoop. The flavor is key. In all of these brands, the first flavor is unflavored, then vanilla, cookies n cream, and then dark/milk chocolate, which is my favorite, but you lose about about 1%. Here’s the list and research says to stay above 80% per scoop. The first one on my list I came across on Vitamin Shoppe clearance section for $15 for 2 pounds last year, deal of the century. Most of these prices listed is for 5lbs, except momentous, transparent labs and legions. Diesel: 90% per scoop, cookies/cream N. Zealand Now Sports: 89% unflavored $80 amzn Nutricost: whey isolate 86% amzn $89 Momentous: 85% athlete approved $60\* Legion: 85% Irish farm , amzn $58\* Transparent labs: 84% $60-2.38lbs Dymatize ISO100: 83% 5lb-$99.74 amzn Levels grass fed: 75% I just bought a 5lb container of NOW on AMZN and if you use the subscribe and save option you save money. Just set it out for 6 months and you can cancel anytime without being charged extra or a fee.
