I weigh about 180 pounds I cannot hit my protein target without protein powder. I use optimum nutrition, vanilla ice cream flavor I used to use iso100 dymatize fruity pebbles.

Our Costco almost always has the Kirkland, ON, and Orgain plant powders for a great deal. Look for the 'Aussie Bites' in the snack section, the ingredients / protein is pretty crazy for the small bites.

ON Gold Standard on top. It's basic, but it's hella good, I LOVE the "delicious strawberry" flavour. I also often chop in a banana, but that's just personal preference.

It’s expensive. For the same price or maybe a bit more you can get 5lb from ON. The cal difference is really small between powders to be honest. Even if you take 4 servings a day to get 100g protein the Isopure is 400cal vs 476 cal from ON. 100g protein from powder is really high unless you are a large size body builder and 76 cal in a 2000 cal daily maintenance is nothing really.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, even at full price, from Costco, is about a 1.15 Canadian a serving, for 24g of protein in 120 calories. I've recently switched to Canadian Protein, which is a brand of protein that's available in bulk, and it works out to around 1.05 CAD/serving, for 27g of protein in 125 calories. Even if you don't buy it from costco, most whey isolate typically will cost less than 1.50 a serving. You just have to mix it yourself.

Here’s the consumer reports study on which brands/lines actually have heavy metals: https://www.consumerreports.org/lead/protein-powders-and-shakes-contain-high-levels-of-lead-a4206364640/ In my experience optimum nutrition gold standard whey (double rich chocolate) has been good. No dangerous level of heavy metals per the report, not super high in sugar. If you take it with water it tastes like ass, but with milk (I use whole) it’s surprisingly pretty good. There’s a number of brands that didn’t appear to have the heavy metal problem, so if that’s a worry, consult the report (note, optimum nutrition’s serious mass protein *did* have more heavy metals, so check by product, not just by brand)

Yeah I’ll get the Isopure clear punch . Gives you 20g with minimal ingredients. If CBUM is on selling then the strawberry is my go to. If they have a buy get one I would load up on the strawberry. Lately prices have crept up so have to Look at others . Costco just had a heck of a deal on optimum . 40.00 for a 5 pound bag . Got like 4 bags . That should hold Me over for a bit

I always get a 5lb container of [Optimum Nutrition Vanilla](https://a.co/d/a2uETDs). For something you will likely be eating every day, a plain flavor is actually best because of the flexibility to add flavor. It's easy to add something (healthy) to mix it up. Here's some ideas: - make the shake with cold brew for a vanilla latte - add cinnamon and pumpkin spice for an autumn treat - add real matcha (powder + hot water) for a matcha latte - add banana and peanut butter - add strawberry or other frozen fruits - add Greek yogurt - add cocoa powder or spices to make it like Mexican hot chocolate All these combos work great with vanilla. Every time I tried new powder flavors I would get sick of them before I finished the container, whereas this way I have a lot of flexibility to mix things up, without relying on artificial flavoring. And sometimes yes I just do it plain.
