I use optimum nutrition platinum hydro whey protein. I find that other powders have too many calories and or high cholesterol. I love bacon and eggs too much. I don't need my protein powder to also load me up on cholesterol.
Isopure or ON Gold Standard Isolate (gold packaging) or ON Platinum Hydro Whey (except for Isopure, both of the ON products aren’t available officially in India, but if you can get this from abroad or from trusted sources in India, some stores do sell imported supplements, then they’re absolutely worth the cost) I have used the Hydro whey, ISO 100, Isopure, and all of them are just great. Iso sensation is also a very good isolate, the protein ratio is crazy good (above 90%)
Optimum nutrition and Dymatize are my go to brands. Prefer the hydrolyzed versions even though they are a bit expensive
Been using Optimum Nutrition Isolate/Hydrolyzed and Dymatize Iso-100 for about 10 years now. Pretty reliable and I always get the chocolate flavour
Flavor-wise: Wheyl. Their line of whey concentrates have like a dozen flavors. I suggest buying 1lb bag na diff flavors if you're the type na mabilis maumay. I have a sensitive stomach but I haven't had issues so far, esp considering I take about 2~4 scoops per day. But if you're really particular about taking isolates due to potential GI issues, you can try ON. They don't have as many flavors (I mean, they do but hindi naman lahat available sa local retailers so limited lang din talaga choices) but they're easy on the gut. Double rich choco and french vanilla are good, safe flavors.
Not ON, they've only been successfully sued once about 10 years ago for false claims in another product. I will say they aren't the best, but its the most conveniently available brand worldwide and gets the job done so I felt I should include it. Protein has came to cost a clean fortune now, so having a variety of brands you like to watch for sales is the best way. Looking at my orders page on MyProtein the same tub of Clear Whey Isolate I bought for £12.20 in 2021 is now retailing for £28! As I understand the initial impact of war in Ukraine caused supply disruption for a short period and the companies decided to permanently run wild with it. The \*£37\* Dymatize I recommended is also only £24 in America so there is a local mugging to it as well
I have tried so many protein powders from cheaper own brand labels in the grocery store to the more expensive ones. The best one for flavour and absorbtion and textures: Optimum Nutrition - Hydrolyzed Whey or whey Isolate (great if you are lactose intolerant) Hands down. This brand has the smoothest shakes, and the flavour is not bad. I normally always get vanilla cause if I want I can add cinnamon or pumpkin spice, or gingerbread spices, or cacao to change it myself. It can be expensive, but it's worth it. All of the optimum range. Runner up: Applied Nutrition Hydrolyzed Whey - similar to above but still have a ever so slight grainy texture. Contenders Diet Smart Proteins - PhD The Quad Shake - The Protein Works Avoid: Impact Protein - grainy texture Protein Works Diet Whey/Whey - quite grainy texture, but lots of fun flavours Supermarket brands - grainy texture.
I’m a big transparent labs fan. However for most of my gym life I took an Optimum Whey (gold or platinum)
I find Kirkland to be over the top for me. Doesn't mix as well so you have to mix with more water and drink more of it. The cream flavor is really strong and very artificial and I personally dislike that enough to stick with ON
Only 2? With them lasting up to 2 years I'm getting like 5+
Can't really go wrong with ON. It's consistently good, and available at Costco.
Mine actually has Chocolate, but it's a bit more expensive than the vanilla. Worth it though.
Whey is usually the best bang for your buck in India (fast absorption, complete protein). Soy works too if you’re dairy-sensitive, but some people find it harder to digest. For affordable options, check **Optimum Nutrition (ON), MuscleBlaze, As-It-Is, or BigMuscles**. If you want plant-based, **Plix or OZiva** are decent. Stick to brands with third-party test reports and avoid flashy marketing blends.
