Not to make light of this topic, but every food has something. Tuna a great protein source, but because of the mercury levels only certain types (light and skipjack) you should only eat 3x a week max. The better "quality" tuna - albacore, yellowfin is 1x a week and then big eye which should be avoided altogether. Personally (new to GLP-1, but an avid researcher!), I limit shakes to once a day. Orgain's Clean protein is grass fed cow's milk which I prefer. Greek yogurt is always here (Costco's non fat organic works for me!) and I eat it with berries or make a 'pudding'. Currently pumpkin has been a hit for me, but lime powder and zero cal sweetener makes a decent key lime flavor. We try to buy organic to limit pesticides and other nasties. It's not perfect as we have to do what we can.
You can only benefit from, I believe, it's 40g a protein at a time max, so I'd spread it out. I am for 30g at a meal. Why did he suggest Orgain over any other protein option including whole foods? Not against it, we use it in our Baked Oatmeal (it's high protein), and I do keep Orgain Shakes on hand (try the plant based vs the two dairy, there is a difference in taste).
Interesting. I didn't realize the potassium/phosphorus was a thing in protein powders. I like Orgain over many we've tried so that's a plus. Orgain Shakes are my 'makeup' when I don't hit my protein numbers during the day.
I make a daily coffee protein shake but it’s definitely not cheap. Here’s my recipe: 1c cold brew (or just leftover coffee) 1 scoop collagen peptides (various brands, whatever’s on sale) 1 tsp mushroom coffee powder 1 scoop chocolate flavored greens supplement 1tsp colustrum powder (this really helps w/ my seasonal allergies for some reason) 2 scoops Orgain coffee flavor protein powder 3/4c fat free cottage cheese or yogurt Sometimes I add sugar free coffee syrup or espresso powder or cacao nibs, but not always. Ice I blend this like crazy with a little water if needed. It generally gives me roughly 60g of protein with very little sugar & keeps me full all morning. The nootropics from the mushroom coffee really give me sustained focus with no crash.
Orgain Vanilla is also the only one I like and I always buy the tub from Costco when it's on sale. One former coworker would blend it with her iced coffee and that was surprisingly good but I prefer it with a little nonfat yogurt, frozen fruit, and a handful of spinach.
I like the orgain strawberry protein powder, it doesnt have the chalky weird taste that you get with whey protein. I also cant do whey due to some medications, so the organic plant derived protein is what i can do.
I use OWYN Chocolate, Orgain Strawberry, and Ora Vanilla for baking (the best for baking by far but don’t love for other things). I’ve heard good things about PEScience Peanut Butter, haven’t tried it but probably will eventually. I’m still in search of a vanilla I love outside of baking but haven’t found one yet, for now I use OWYN.
I use Orgain chocolate. Mix it in to an iced coffee using a [rechargeable mixer](https://a.co/d/hdlLdIh). Works good for me. Always looking for new pointers though.
