I'm very picky with my protein powder, but 2 brands I've found to be good from both a quality and taste standpoint has been Promix and Kion. Promix has more variety but I think I prefer Kion in certain flavors (ie., their chocolate is superior in my opinion). Also as an elder millennial, I can assure you I have tried most protein bars on the market. Many are terrible and I phase through preferences, but lately I do fancy a barebell. So many flavors and not as chalky/synthetic as others
I’m with you on not being able to tolerate artificial sweeteners and I also can’t stand most sugar substitutes. I searched long and H-A-R-D for a protein powder since most of them have one or the other. I found ProMix whey powder: \*\*\*not\*\*\* to be confused with their whey isolate powder, it has very clean ingredients, and either a kiss of organic coconut or maple sugar. I think their vanilla and chocolate are both great, and are equally good mixed with skim milk or water (sometimes I’ll even do 50/50). It’s available on Amazon (here: https://amzn.to/4va3rqd), and they even have a trial pack (vanilla, chocolate, and unflavored) for $20 so you can determine if you like it before committing to a two pound bag. (Darn, I just looked that up and it’s unavailable right now, maybe they have it on their website?) For electrolytes, I like Liquid IV. It’s only 40-50 calories per packet, and if we’re truly dehydrated, the sugar helps facilitate and speed up the hydration process (most people miss this important point when opting for sugar free versions!). If you want to avoid sugar entirely, you can always opt for something like this: https://amzn.to/4fGAihB
I found ProMix Nutrition’s Grass fed whey protein powder. It has VERY clean ingredients (grass fed whey protein, organic coconut or maple sugar, and either Dutch cocoa powder or Madagascar vanilla bean extract. They’re minimally sweetened, taste delicious, work with water or a variety of milks, and have ***NONE*** of the garbage that the ready-made shakes contain. Even their plain grass fed whey protein powder is good. (NOTE: I *do not* recommend their whey isolate protein powder. It doesn’t taste nearly as good and had unpleasant gastro side effects for me, but their grass fed whey protein powder is excellent!)
I *LOVE* the really clean, simple ingredients in ProMix Whey Protein powder (***do not*** confuse it with their whey isolate protein powder, they’re vastly different!) It’s the best tasting protein powder I’ve ever used, hands down!
i’ve had a hard time eating and minimal appetite in my pregnancy after a first trimester of throwing up all day every day multiple times a day. in my second tri, i’ve consistently been able to have oatmeal every morning — i add chia seeds and 30 g of collagen powder. Promix is my favorite because it’s so clean but it also mixes really well. one way to make sure i’m kickstarting my day with protein in case i don’t have an appetite the rest of the day and collagen is good for us esp while pregnant! you can also put 10-15 g of creatine in a glass of water for a lil filler protein. and it’s kind of expensive but i can’t recommend Promix enough for any of their products — they are my fav brand for protein powder, creatine, prebiotics/probiotics and just about anything.
I love promix, it’s so smooth and the flavor in the vanilla is just a little sweet with a bit of monkfruit
Naked pea protein is cheap ish I think I personally love promix, it’s really good
Pricy but super clean ingredients and great taste: Promix, Nutrabio, Transparent Labs
Try Promix’s chocolate or vanilla whey powder with Fairlife milk. You can get 15 g of protein from the milk and 30g from the whey powder. It only contains coconut sugar.
Promix’s chocolate and vanilla has coconut sugar only. Will that work for you?
