I'm sure powders have been discussed to death here, but I've always had trouble with calorie intake and was recommended whole foods powders over whey. It's worked wonders for me on mass gains, I mix it with whole milk and supplement for a full BCAA stack and while it's seriously helped my intake, I'm currently using MRE by Redcon1 and I've seen a lot of hate for the stuff. Frankly I went with it because the first ingredient is actual rolled oats rather than a synthesized isolate or dextrose. Trying to up my quality for long term use by this point though and looking for recommendations? My research always seems to bring me back to people pushing whey isolates or a bunch of meal prep. All suggestions/knowledge drops much appreciated, definitely still learning

I think most protein powders don’t taste “good” on their own. I do have the Mre banana bread one that if mixed with yogurt, a bit of cool whip, and a sliced banana tastes JUST like a banana pudding. But I haven’t been able to really replicate that with any of my other flavors.

Is there something I'm not noticing wrong with redcon mre? Its one of the few that actually makes me feel good when I use it and doesn't mess up my stomach. Its supposedly made from actual food sources and not from gimmicky chemicals. Yet I never see it in anyone's list of good proteins. I'm assuming I'm missing something. Please let me know because its currently my go to protein powder, thanks

I have settled on Intek Protein Evolution, it is great tasting so I can take it with just water after lifting. Includes enzymes, aminos and more to aid in digestion and absorption, while providing additional benefits to just the protein. Chocolate is my fave, vanilla and horchata are also really good (but sweeter than I like at 5AM lol). For whole-food proteins I usually go for MRE or MRE Lite from Redcon.

Weight loss is a numbers game. You need to burn more calories than what you consume. Fat loss is won in the kitchen. Muscle gain is won in the gym. Protein though, especially lean proteins, help you satiate hunger and also help with muscle repair and muscle gain. If you feel like you are not getting enough protein in your diet then look at either traditional protein powders or even high protein meal replacements. Try to find stuff with little to no sugar. Try to find stuff that has their main ingredient (first one listed) as an actual beef, fish, or chicken based protein. I’d also incorporate at least one serving of creatine per day too. Creatine has been shown to not only help with recovery and muscle growth but it’s also good for your brain too. Whey Isolate/Hydrolyzed (fast-acting), Casein (slow-release), and high-quality Blends. If you have any form of lactose intolerance then maybe look at just whey isolate, bean & pea, or plant based protein powders. Just a personal preference but I like the protein powder and meal replacement that Redcon1 sells. In the past I’ve also liked isopure.

I don’t use a ton of meal replacement, but I thought that Redcon was excellent. It’s pricey, though. It adds up.

Agreed! I like the taste of Redcon1’s products but mostly use On brand (for price).
