I have a very sensitive tummy and acid reflux - the only protein powder my body tolerates is Truvani. They're vegan with super clean ingredient list. It's a little more £££ than others but I stretch out by only using half a scoop at a time and then adding 2 tbsp of collagen peptide (works out well because I find a full scoop is too much sugar) to get to full 20g protein. My fave is vanilla chai.
I have acid reflux and most protein powders seem to give me awful heartburns :/ the only one I can tolerate is Truvani vegan ones which also taste amazing! My fave is chai vanilla one!
My hyperfixation smoothie is so good I sometimes have it for dinner if I don't feel like eating. I use: 1/2 frozen banana 50g frozen blueberries 130g unsweetened almond milk Splash of water 5g chia seeds 1/2 std serving of collagen peptide powder 1/2 std serving of Truvani chai & vanilla protein powder* (* it's the only protein powder I like because I've got acid reflux and all others I've tried give me the worst heartburn. Added bonus is that this chai flavour literally tastes like chai latte mix and the ingredient list is super clean too. 290 calories & 24g protein in total.)
My stomach is sensitive too so i used protien powder with no dairy and the few ingredients as possible I like Truvani and my stomach dont have problems.
I use Truvani. The plant based vanilla one. I tend to under eat & not get enough protein if I’m not mindful as I get full pretty fast. This helps me.
For what it's worth, I'm mildly lactose intolerant, too. Regular whey protein shakes make my stomach feel super bloated, but whey isolates are totally fine. They're more expensive, but nearly all of the fat and lactose is removed during processing, so it doesn't have any sort of thick texture and dissolves really easily. Some brands, like Kaged, also add digestive enzymes to help reduce the bloat and make it easier to absorb. It may still be an issue if you're really sensitive to lactose, but if it's not horrible, a good whey isolate might work! Those are generally sold as powders that you mix, and most pre-made shakes use a blend of protein sources that yes, are very thick, high-lactose, and don't feel very good on the stomach. I've never had a plant-based protein that doesn't have a thick, chalky texture to it. Truvani has a pretty good taste as far as plant-based options go, but it does still have a bit of a weird texture.
I use Truvani powder because it’s plant-based. I like the vanilla in my smoothies but I used unflavored as well. I make fruit smoothies and sometimes a cold brew smoothie. I also don’t want artificial sweeteners or other super processed ingredients in my protein powder. I haven’t tried many other kinds, so not sure what to compare it to, but I’m satisfied with it. I will say it makes smoothies (or anything else) really thick and it does stay a little gritty, which I’ve heard is typical for plant based protein powders.
I love almost every flavor of Truvani, they also have sample sizes at sprouts, Whole Foods and on Amazon so you can try a scoop before you commit! I love the PB Chocolate and Lemon cake flavor, my husbands favorite is the chocolate mint! I use in smoothies, in coffees and baking!
