Is it just specific products? I use Vega protein powder but a different type than the one tested in the report. Vega claims they have their products tested by an independent lab
Avoid: * Naked Nutrition * Huel Once per week: * Garden of Life * Momentous 100% Plant Protein Occasionally: * MuscleMeds * Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein Shake * Jocko Fuel * Vega * Quest * Orgain * Equip Foods * Plant Fusion * Ensure * Muscle Milk * KOS Better Choices for Daily Consumption: * Owyn * Transparent Labs * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey * BSN * Momentus Whey Protein Isolate * Dymatize * Muscle Tech Only the last one - Muscle Tech - is listed as no limit on safe consumption.
negative. Optimum Gold Standard Protein Shake was orange, at above 150% of consumer report's level of concern for lead, and recommend to limit to 4 2/3 servings per week. The Optimum Gold Standard 100% Whey is what was green across the board and recommend 1 3/4 servings per day.
well I guess we can chalk up the disagreement to lack of specificity. "Optimum Gold Protein Powder" isn't listed in the consumer reports article (unless I am blind, which may in fact be the case). There are two Optimum products listed: * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein Shake - not recommended * Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - recommended If I've missed one or miscategorized one I'll edit my post right away, but I believe I've got them listed correctly.
Careful - Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein Shake is listed under "occasionally" and their Gold Standard 100% Whey is listed under "better choices for daily consumption". Kudos on calling out Muscle Tech as having no limit on safe consumption. I missed that and grouped it with the rest of the ones in the same category.
So, I don't follow a specific diet. My neurologist said that wouldn't be good for me long run, probably because he knows I can't stick to anything strict like that. I'd seen him for 10 years prior to MS diagnosis for migraines. Anyway, I focus on getting enough protein and fiber every day and avoiding foods that make me feel icky. Mostly, red meat if I have it too many days in a row, but dairy usually does it, too. Specifically for protein, I like muscle milk (plant based), because it's already mixed, just gotta shake it and pour it into my coffee cup. I also like Vega protein powder (also plant based). Mostly, though, the important part is to listen to your body. You don't necessarily have to cut out everything just because the internet says you should.
Vega used to be my all-time favorite, then something changed and now I can't even digest it! :/ Seconding GoodProtein, although I always seem to have issues with their shipping taking about a million years. XD
Have you had Vega? Do any of these taste similar? I hate Vega, lol, so I’m trying to avoid comparable ones.
Not soy based but vega protein powder, due to its certification, legally needs to be tested. Also it's the best tasting I've encountered. A little expensive but I think it's worth the money.
Very interesting, I didnt even know there were this many options! I'm a Vega d*ck rider lol. Orgain is vile, but to each their own
I’m personally switching back to Vega. Less lead is better than more lead, but I also need something that’s vegan, has enough protein, and I can afford.
My dietician recommended Vega, I love it and my wife hates hates it... Seems to some extent to be a matter of preference. Cool chart, thanks OP!
Vega is my fave. And it has protein and greens, so you're getting lots of nutrients and vitamins with it. And it comes in lots of flavours.
