The best running shoe for you is the one that fits your foot the best. I like the new balance rebel v4s for daily training and SC elite v4s for racing. Largely because both fit my foot and strike parttern almost perfectly. I've also been enjoying the adidas evo sl. For daily walking, I've been fully converted into the minimalist, zero drop shoes. I use a pair of lems on the daily. I find that cushioned shoes for prolonged periods of standing or walking actually make my ankles feel uncomfortable. Not so much for the no stack/lower stack stuffm

11:30 does sound a bit slow for those shoes, but remember, they could still enjoy the benefits of premium foams. I personally would rather run that time in those shoes than outlet level "running shoes" like Pegasus and Duramo SL. Because I i have more money than sense, I broke my Pro Evo 1 on a 27 minute 5k and my Pro Evo 2 on a 55 minute 10k, my record for each 3 months ago. Did they make me faster? yes, could I have gotten faster without $500 shoes? yes. Are they the most fun shoes I ever raced with? absolutely. If you can afford it, try it and see how it feels. As long as you don't have some poor mechanics (you are running marathons after all), the least benefit you'll get is amazing foam underfoot, the most, propulsion with the cushy foam.

Dont worry about those time claims. If they feel great for you, buy them. I have several pairs and use the from everything from 5k races to half marathon long runs. my marathon time is currently estimated above 4 hours with a 2 hour half marathon record. The only shoes I will choose over the AP4 are the Pro Ovo 1 and 2 which are supposed to be for even faster runners. For me, I want the most premium foam I can buy if I am going to be running 2 to 4 hours. I started buying adidas shoes with the Takumi Sen 10 (supposedly for 5k) and Adios Pro 3. I was unstable on the Takumi Sen 10 at about 210lb mass but the AP3 was great and I used them for everything from 1 mile jogs to 5k runs. I have dialed back my carbon plate adoption by picking up some Evo SL and Nike Vomero premium pairs for training, but I will still run 5Ks on my AP4

I agree, I have a half dozen Adios Pro 4 and the Pro Evos, the only time anyone has ever cared was the bright pink AP4 and the oversees only Pure Sulfur / Lucid Blue / Lucid Red. I buy shoes because I love shoes for looks and for function, anyone who has an opinion can eat my slow paced farts https://preview.redd.it/2q40ydmv0ldg1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ed6f7f2ae47799985115f8891ecdc3297b07211

Remember, the supershoes come with the best foams you can have ender your feet for long distances. For perspective, I am 40, weigh 190lbs, my 5k record is 26.43, 10k, 55.01 and half just at 2 hours. I have worked and continue to work on my posture through every race and i can assure you that my 500$ Evo Pro shoes absolutely make me faster than my Adios Pro 4 which is also noticeably faster than my Adios Pro 3. If you get no other benefits, the premium foams will minimize your leg fatigue. Buy what feels comfortable, fast, you can afford, and actually like.

I found a nice deal on the MS5 on The Loop and I was wondering if I could make it work as a daily. I know it's plated, but the plate seems to be a lot shorter and flatter than a race shoe, something like the ESL's shank. I've heard some reviews of it being potentially usable for some recovery/base work. For a little reference of my preference: * My favorite shoe I've ever worn is the On Cloudsurfer 7. I love it's minimalist structure, rocker, durability, and plush feel. It's something I've done everything from recovery to tempo reps in them, but I'm looking for something that's capable of going up to vo2/lactic reps while maintaining that easy mile versatility. * My current shoe is the Adidas ESL. It's been great and I love that it can be soft while also retaining some snap and speed for faster work. My two problems I've had with it are 1. the upper is cramped and uncomfortable, and 2. I'm getting tired of just how tall it is, and desperately need a lower, more minimal shoe. * For biometrics and performance reference: I'm 5'6" + 120-25 lbs, 175 bpm cadence if it matters, 17:3x 5k xc, 4:5x 1600, and primarily plan to train to shave down both times quite a bit. Thoughts?

If you love the Evo SL- and why wouldn’t you- go for the Adios Pro 4. I mean, I’d want the extra stability and propulsion over that distance. (I’m a fan of the Evo too but if I try moderate paces in them my left knee starts hurting around 30 mins in. I wouldn’t want to take them 26.2 miles)

Would you look ridiculous? No one will even notice. I bought a pair of the rare tier above the common super shoes (Adios Pro Evo 1) and figured they are so rare it would spark conversation. 2 marathons, a half marathon and a 10k later and no one noticed them. Buy yourself something nice and enjoy the speed!

Money is not really the issue for me either. Therefore I do my long runs in real super shoes like Adios Pro and Metaspeed Sky. The marathon only comes once or twice a year so I go all in with Adios Pro Evo. The light weight is something you can feel. The idea that you have to be fast to use the top level shoes is just silly. They definitely help.
