I used to have a BAD running shoe problem, I had like 25. I am now reformed but still have a lot apparently: *Hoka Mach 6 for everyday runs, I run part road part trail and these get gunked up every day, ugly lavender but muddied up which I love *Brooks Hyperion for everyday runs or short races (5k, 10k) -I was using this as dailys but I was gunking them on trails and I like them too much so I got the hokas above to destroy *Adidas Adizero Evo SL for road long runs (will use for my half marathons) -LOVE this shoe, cushy but speedy, makes me feel super fast *Hoka speedgoats for trail -I am meh about these, I prefer road shoes on trail, if I had more technical or slippery trails I would use these but other than that they just exist Vintage: *Adidas adizero adios boost, used to be my LD race shoes, they are like 10 years old and I refuse to give them up because they are old school undercushioned and fast *Mizuno hitogami also about 10 years old, proper racing flats supposedly for mid distance but I love them for short distance. Love love love how clicky they are, they go so fast Ok, nobody reading this but it warmed my heart to talk about my shoes, lol
Not sure this is dictated by weight. Anecdotal: Nimbus and 1080 work well for slow runs for me. Daily trainers, pegasus, ride, velocity etc, i don't think they're that different. Just in the way they fit, and nike generally fits best. Adios are probably too barebones for me in hindsight. And vongo are too hard. And novablast are too loose/unstable, idk how to describe it.
Ive enjoyed them a lot too. I’ve used these shoes a holiday shoe, but most of the time they’re my interval shoe with paces between 04:45/km 04:15/km they’re really great at those paces. For slow long runs (06:00/ -05:30/km) they’re ok but not great. They feel better at recovery paces than zone 3. They’re firm but have good stability with a stiff heel counter that luckily doesnt irritate my heel like adios shoes. Have got 500km on mine, they will last a long time but I could also retire them for a pair of deviate elite 3’s I got cheap. The dne3 is so much nicer and more versatile with a superior foam setup. Funnily enough they’re super comfortable as walking shoe.
I focus on light and poppy shoes rather than necessarily plated, but have used both; Avanti, Adios, Takumi Sen, Evo SL, Zoom Fly. I like saving super shoes for races, personally, so you’ve got a bit more on the day than usual, but that’s just me.
It sounds like you're wanting something with a lower stack height as the NB fresh foam 860 is about 37mm I did a quick search on Run Repeat between 25-30mm and Adidas Adizero Adio and Saucony Kinvara stands out. I'm a Kinvara stan and I love them. But they both seem to be a bit of a speed shoe and less of a daily trainer. But fast just means light weight, and I honestly prefer it that way. So on your next trip to a running store just ask for low stack options and see what they recommend for you.
boston 13s have fiberglass rods, I love them too but they are far from the adios' carbon rods stiffness
Only would do one or two test runs before my marathons in my vaporflys. I wanted to save that awesome spring for race days. Long runs I’d use something like a kinvara or Boston. Workout days , my favorite was the Adidas Adios. I’m retired from racing, but i still have my OG Vaporfly. I now use them for my faster days.
They are similar to the Adios. I think I prefer the upper on these, and they feel a tad lighter. But both are outstanding for speed work, especially on the track
