As someone who has both ap3 and ap4, the ap4 did not agree with me.  It's too squishy and does not work with my running style.  I liked the ap3, I wouldn't say I love it. It's firm and has a good responsiveness to it. I prefer the nb sc elite v4.

I ran a half marathon at 5:25km/h pace in my adios pro 3s and they felt amazing. Last year I did 5:35km/h in them for a half and had a similar feeling. I definitely feel a lot quicker with the adios pro 3s compared to my Superblast 2s.

I used to think that like and put off getting carbon plates shoes for a long time and wished that I got them earlier. I've PBd at least 90% of my races in my Adios Pro 3s from 5k-half marathon and using them for Manchester marahton next month. There are some carbons that don't feel as comfortable at slower paces but the adios pro 3s work well for me. You may want to look at a few different carbon plated shoes to find ones that you'll like.

My most recent race shoe purchase is the AP4. Haven’t run a full in them yet, but have done some shorter races. Previously, I’ve raced halfs and fulls in the Clifton 8, Vaporfly 2, Alphafly 1, Endorphin Speed 2, Adios Pro 3, Zegama 1, Topo Specter 1, Endorphin Trail, Endorphin Pro 3, Endorphin Speed 3, and Tyr Valkyrie Speedworks. AP3 has been my favorite of those. Ran 2 halfs and 2 fulls in them plus an ultra and then put a lot of miles in them as a daily trainer. Great shoe. AF1 was great too, but I did a lot more daily miles than races in those.

I had both and ran several marathons in the AP3 and one in the AP4. The AP3 felt faster, but the AP4 was more comfortable and my times are more reflective of my training at the time than the shoes. Either is great for a marathon.

I wear a lot of Saucony shoes — Kinvara, Endorphin Speed, Endorphin Pro; I even have a pair of Endorphin Trails. However, I love the Adidas Adios Pro line. They’ve been my go to for race shoes for the last 3 years. That would be hard to give up.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus if you can get them on sale to meet your budget. Ran my first half marathon with them. r/runningshoegeeks have a whole list of recommendations on their wiki. I’ve had in, order of purchase: - Brooks Ghost 15 - only pair I’ve bought Instore after a gait analysis. - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 - Adidas Adios Pro 3 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra (for trails) - ASICS Superblast 2 Bought all but the Brooks Ghost from Sportsshoes.com. They often have good sales and discounts. At time of purchase: - Adidas Adios Pro 3 were £135 down from £210 - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 were £112 down from £180 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed were £112 down from £160 - ASICS Superblasts never go on sale Sizing: Went half a size up for the Gel Nimbus 25s, Adios Pro 3 and Agravic Speed. Went true size for Ghost and Superblast 2. I am a very mid runner. I mainly use the Superblast 2s and the Agravic Speeds. The Brooks Ghost were highly recommended on forums and shops. Upper was comfortable but the midsole left a lot to be desired. I moved on from them very quickly to the Gel Nimbus. The Ghosts have been relegated to generic gym usage. Both of the Adidas are ultra light weight and designed for faster runners than me. Less comfy upper but really fun to run in after the initial break in and issues below. They are both narrow and the insole on both pairs cut into my right foot quite a bit when I first started running in them to the point I would wear blister plasters if I chose to run in them. That issue is gone now but the right foot on the Adios Pro 3 still never feels quite right. Chances are it’s just this particular pair and I forget about it once I’m actually running. ASICS Gel Nimbus and ASICS Superblast have convinced me to go for ASICS race shoes when my Adidas Adios Pro 3s give out. They’re super comfy. Ran my first ever half on the Gel Nimbus and my first marathon in the Superblast 2s.

This really doesn’t get mentioned enough. A lot of people make the Evo SL sound like a do it all shoe, but that hasn’t been my experience. On uneven British pavements my tendons get sore after a few runs. The shoe feels amazing when it works - which is faster runs on straight, even tarmac, but on my usual routes, I’m constantly watching out for the tiniest bumps or cracks, otherwise I end up sore and frustrated. Takes all the fun out of it. I’ve ordered a few pairs to find a replacement. So far only the Vomero Plus have arrived — definitely more stable but too high-arched for me. Really hoping the Boston 13s (coming soon) will sort me out. For context, the AP3’s still my favourite fast shoe ever, but I keep those for the all out efforts.

Do you have any older ASICS shoes you can test? I used to run in superblast (original) and they were HORRIBLE in the rain. Conversely my adios pro 3’s are excellent.

As a heel-to-mid striker too, I prefer adidas AP3 over nike's offerings. PR is 3:07, but I think a great shoe in the 3:20 range

I have over 1100 miles on my first pair of Superblast 2 and they still feel great. I’ve relegated them to treadmill use just in case, but honestly they feel the same as my other pairs (one at 700 miles, another at a bit under 500). I’ve had plenty of people call BS on this but I’m not the only one to take them to 1000+ without issue. The other workhorse has been the Adios Pro 3. I have almost 500 miles on my first pair, and the only issue I have is a tear in the upper that is slowly getting worse (I tore it catching a rock, it wasn’t due to it falling apart on its own). I still use them for long runs with progressions/workouts anyway. You can often find these (as well as the AP4) for $100+ off if you’re not picky about colorway… I went to go pick up a pair of Evo SL recently to try them out and saw a blue/green AP4 on sale for the same price and just picked that up instead :)
