Dont worry about those time claims. If they feel great for you, buy them. I have several pairs and use the from everything from 5k races to half marathon long runs. my marathon time is currently estimated above 4 hours with a 2 hour half marathon record. The only shoes I will choose over the AP4 are the Pro Ovo 1 and 2 which are supposed to be for even faster runners. For me, I want the most premium foam I can buy if I am going to be running 2 to 4 hours. I started buying adidas shoes with the Takumi Sen 10 (supposedly for 5k) and Adios Pro 3. I was unstable on the Takumi Sen 10 at about 210lb mass but the AP3 was great and I used them for everything from 1 mile jogs to 5k runs. I have dialed back my carbon plate adoption by picking up some Evo SL and Nike Vomero premium pairs for training, but I will still run 5Ks on my AP4
I agree, I have a half dozen Adios Pro 4 and the Pro Evos, the only time anyone has ever cared was the bright pink AP4 and the oversees only Pure Sulfur / Lucid Blue / Lucid Red. I buy shoes because I love shoes for looks and for function, anyone who has an opinion can eat my slow paced farts https://preview.redd.it/2q40ydmv0ldg1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ed6f7f2ae47799985115f8891ecdc3297b07211
Remember, the supershoes come with the best foams you can have ender your feet for long distances. For perspective, I am 40, weigh 190lbs, my 5k record is 26.43, 10k, 55.01 and half just at 2 hours. I have worked and continue to work on my posture through every race and i can assure you that my 500$ Evo Pro shoes absolutely make me faster than my Adios Pro 4 which is also noticeably faster than my Adios Pro 3. If you get no other benefits, the premium foams will minimize your leg fatigue. Buy what feels comfortable, fast, you can afford, and actually like.
I’m in a similar position to OP, considering the same shoes for my first 42. The EVOs feel slightly wobbly at marathon pace for me. I loved the BOS 12, do I go with BOS 13s? Thanks in advance!
Recovery: Glycerin Max 2 Daily: Superblast 2 Long: Adizero Prime X3 Speed: Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 Race: (5-10k): 361 Miro Nude, (21k-42k): Adios pro Evo Trail: Asics Trabuco
I wouldn’t call them cloud like. They are definitely bouncy, but on the firmer side. Their big brother, the Pro 4, is softer, but also less stable.
Right now it’s the Vomero 18 if I were replacing a pair of Novablasts. Such a well rounded shoe and 100% could run a marathon in. I also got the adidas Adios pro Equiptment. Which is the pro 3 with a more lifestyle upper that is infinitely better than the pro 3 upper and laces. I’ve done my last 2 long runs in them and they have been great.
The foam in my mostly 2 shoe rotation (Neo Zen, EVO SL) refuses to die so they've carried me through the year. I bought the Megablast on my birthday because I had an Asics 25% off coupon & was depressed, lol. But I don't really like them. Don't make impulse buys. I'd rank them 1) Zen 2) Adios Pro 3 (carried over from last year as my race shoe) 3) EVO 4)Megablast
*Question from:* u/Flat_Olive8498 *How will the hyperboost running lineup evolve and how will hyperboost, lightstrike pro and dreamstrike + coexist? Will hyperboost replace dreamstrike?* Love this question. Adizero is built for speed, to break pbs , be fast and feel fast- to equip you for raceday or get ready for it, featured by Lightstrike Pro foam and energy rods. Hyperboost is built for max cushioning, high energy return resulting in a (non-plated) lightweight supertrainer- featured by Hyperboost Pro foam. Supernova is your daily trainer, with more supportive comfort , featured by Dreamstrike +. All can coexist in a shoe rotation or be used individually for their distinct purpose. I personally use Adizero Adios Pro for race day, Adizero Evo SL for fast training runs , and Supernova for easy runs, Hyperboost Pro ( I run a testing pair) became a staple for me in my rotation for various use cases, from short to long runs- the great thing it has that “hidden” gas pedal insight that you can always hit. If you need only one shoe Hyperboost Edge is a great choice.
I wear a lot of Saucony shoes — Kinvara, Endorphin Speed, Endorphin Pro; I even have a pair of Endorphin Trails. However, I love the Adidas Adios Pro line. They’ve been my go to for race shoes for the last 3 years. That would be hard to give up.
