I just retired my first Evo SL pair at 700km, bought another classic Evo SL, New Evo SL woven and new Evo SL ATR. Used them for my NYC marathon prep last year. First marathon, 3:42:20, in NB SC Elite v5. I also have Superblast 2 and I hate them 😂 All runners are different I guess
V+ and Evo SL woven really is a terrific combo.
I ended up buying the EVO SL Woven today, looking forward running in them this week. I’ll keep the Superblast for now they are great for some of the trails I run. The extra foam and stability does well with the uneven surfaces.
I love these and also love the Evo SL woven but finding myself actually preferring the Tempos now I can just run faster with less effort in these and they feel great throughout the run and are so versatile for all paces and distances Once word gets around about these the prices will go up, so I want to order another pair but not keen on the yellow colour and already have grey/pink. Surely they will bring out more colourways as most of their shoes have 4-6 colours and this only has two so far. Anybody know if more colours are coming
try the evo sl woven. It has a better fit than the regular ones and feels more like a daily trainer.
“Are they the best daily trainer out there at the moment?”… Are they the best daily trainer out there for £100ish? … maybe. probably. Although the Saucony Azura is (in my opinion) better, and Costs maybe £115ish with discount. Are they the best daily trainer out there full stop? Not even close. They're also way softer / squishier than Hoka Clifton’s Still, I like mine. I prefer my SL Woven’s and SL ATR versions though.
SAUCONY Azura (my preference. Stable, solid, less exciting, reliable) Adidas EVO SL woven (squashy, fun, responsive, more unstable, possibly slightly quicker for your 4:15/km runs) I’m not familiar with the asics range but everyone raves about these ‘blast’ range shoes. So probably one of those would do too.
I think the EVO SL Woven is the pseudo-EVO SL 1.5 lol I’ve had them for two weeks now, though, I think they’re still a huge upgrade despite not being an official sequel lol
Love to hear that. I actually like the width on the EVO SL/woven in the forefoot. Somewhat harder to find, in other brands.
Evo SL is roomy and fast. Upper and tongue are bothersome for some (me). I like the Rebel V4 for most everything and the Altra Experience Flow for recovery runs.
EVO SL and Megablast are some of the worst fitting shoes on the market. Alphafly is overrated. TYR Maverick would be a top 3 shoe if it was made by any of the major brands.
High instep, high arch and slightly wider forefoot here - lots of trial and error! I feel you. Here's a few I've liked: \- Vomero Plus (a touch narrow in the toe box, but otherwise works really well) \- TYR Maverick - My current favorite shoe, and my daily. Anatomic toebox, flexible offer and great lockdown with 44m drop in a lightweight package. \- EVO SL - Fits really well, but is best for fast runs and not the most stable. Not a beginning shoe, IMO (no idea your running journey). Frequently on sale for \~$100. \- Adidas Supernova Prima - Excellent fit and foam, very balanced daily trainer. \- NB SC Elite V4 and V5 - More of a racing shoe, but also suitable for speed work and long runs. Does have a carbon fiber plate, but the V4 version is one of the least aggressive race shoes out there. Hope this helps!
Fair warning that the Woven is quite a bit narrower, and it has this annoying stiff toe bumper. Didn’t work for me with E width, my toes got impaled on the bumper.
More like a souped up VW than Porsche lol. None of the luxury comfort features but a ton of horsepower.
I've seen some reviews of the new woven upper Evo SL that sound like it might have a bit more support. I also like just the tiniest bit of support and although I love the foam in the Evo SL my ankles hurt a bit after I do more than 5K in them. Maybe the woven upper version would be a good bet. I really like the New Balance Rebel as a similar sort of shoe that doesn't make me hurt like the Evo does.
I’ve just done two 5ks in New Balance Rebel v5 and I would put them in third place behind my superblast and evo sl which have already been mentioned
