Nah don’t listen lol. There’s a reason why the Evo SL is so popular these days. I use them for easy runs, long runs and threshold work - they feel amazing to me. Just make sure you minimally get the Wovens because the original Evo SL has a thin upper that tends to destroy some people’s toes. The Woven, EXO or ATR variants are much better upgrades with improved uppers.

Give them a try at higher speeds, I first was disappointed but after running in a little, they’ve been my go to shoe for everything. They also feel very different depending on your running form, I found them so much more fun when running striking mid to front foot! Tongue isn’t great but the woven model are much better for that!

I stand somewhat corrected. I did swap out the EVO laces for Lock Laces and it made the fit so much better, as the short tongue made it difficult to tie them in a runners knot. I’m thinking the new EVO SL Woven might be better, according to reviews.

Second this. I also have the EVO SLs and I find the Vomeros to be a nice slow easy day run a great compliment to them

Have you considered the new Supernova Rise 3 or Supernova Solution 3? If available on the adidas store they can be bought for a 30 day trial period and eligible for full refund even after use. The new versions are higher stack and the higher stack and design is now more focused for easy/ recovery runs. I’m thinking about getting a pair but first getting a gait analysis done. I’ve been running about 8 months too. My max distance is 20km and my one-show workhorse as been the Adios 9s. LOVE THEM. I recently bought the Evo SL Woven for easy runs and longer distances and, but, my knee got wrecked on a long run. I don’t know if it was the Evo SLs, I’ll give them another go to see if they caused the knee issue. Either way, I’m looking for a shoe exclusively for easy/ recovery/ long runs. No need to go fast in them, just rack up the mileage. The new Supernovas might fill that slot and might be my first marathon shoe if the EVO SLs don’t work out.

I’m by no means a shoe expert! But similar place as you looking for a do-it-all shoe. When I got back into running last year (5-10km) I bought the Adios 9s, LOVE THEM. Got another pair. I’m increasing distance and mileage, wanting to do a HM and maybe FM. I’ve finally gone for the Evo SL Woven, got on discount for £110 in the UK you can still get from Start Fitness with discount codes). For me it fits nicer than the standard Evo SL. I’ve only walked and slow jogged in them. I don’t get the instability vibe people talk about yet. Maybe that’s at tempo? But my Adios 9 will be for speed, and these will be for HM pace (about 5’37” per km, 9mins per mile). Will see how the Evo SL Woven feel after a few more runs. In the back of my head I’m thinking I may invest in Vomero Plus only for racking up long run mileage in, they are comfort. That’s to extend the life of my Evo SL Woven’s.

Give the new Adidas Supernova Rise 3 a go. If you’re in the UK Adidas allow a 30 day trial period with eligibility for a full refund. I bought EVO SL Woven and they make me sad. I see why people like them, foam feels amazing and they’re good for speed, but they mess with my knees. I got a gait analysis done, my form is good and I’m a neutral runner, video with EVO SL showed a leg bend in my form with the EVOs only, I wore 4 different shoes. That explains compounding knee stress over time, for me at about 10km. SG3… first run, cruised 15km, no pain. Amazing value for £130, and massively discounted to £90 at ASOS if you’re quick, that’s half the price of the other shoes

I’m pretty sure 5:30/km. I’m an average runner and with my Evo SL doing 10km runs at average of 5mins/km or quicker. And it’s true what people say about the shoe teasing you to go faster! My plan was to use them for HM and maybe a first FM. I have to try some longer runs and see if reported stability issues become a problem for me at longer distances.

I never had the Boston 12, but I have both the Boston 13, Evo sl OG and woven. I prefer the Evo for daily runs, long runs and it works well enough for intervals. The Boston 13 has a sort of meaty denseness to it great for intervals, it’s not as protective as the Evo sl for easies or long runs but it’s more stable. The outsole is also better with both lightraxion and continental rubber. The fit on the Boston works better for me though the woven is now very comfortable as well but not breathable at all compared to the Boston. It’s unfortunate they are both so similar to each other.

Yeah exactly, that’s what it leans more towards, it can go fast though. Both are on sale everywhere, I’d say the Boston is a more capable tempo where you can focus on your runs.

From those I’d go with Evo sl. I’ve not had the Boston 12/13 but have the adios 9 and Evo sl. I’m 191cm and 87kg with 21 minute 5k. The Evo sl is really nice but can be wobbly if you’re not used to it, it’s not given me problems so far. The adios 9 is very low stack, feels like a ninja shoe. I really like it as well longest I’ve taken it is about 12km. I tend to use it for short intervals and easy runs. Not sure I’d use it as a daily driver.

It’s super subjective in the end. Boston 13 is the most stable shoe in my rotation. I’ll use it when I need a bit less wobliness. Evo sl for example can be a wobbly shoe. Endorphin pro 4 has an even more stable base but a really terrible upper.

I don’t have the sb2 but still have the sb1. I’m 6’3 and 190lb and prefer the Evo SL for half marathon distances. My recent 5k time is 21:18, 10k 46min and am working towards a 1:40 - 1:45 hm this falll. The Evo sl just always felt more protective, bouncier and is 20g lighter in my US 12.5. The upper is worse though. Runrepeat and rtings testing seems to also validate this where the energy absorption and return is higher. The outsole on Adizero shoes is also so much quieter and better. One shoe that gave me some peroneal soreness was adios pro 4 on my 10k attempt where there was a lot of turns and cobblestones.

I love them, I run 60-70km a week. I don’t use them as my daily driver but I can use them for my intervals, park runs, and slow long runs (2 hours) without issues. The comfort and tongue were a problem until I swapped the laces to sawtooth laces. This gave much better lockdown. Agree with others where the insole is too slippery, so on big downhills you get pushed too far forward. It is my go to holiday running shoe because how versatile it is. I previously had the superblast 1 in this role, but I much prefer the Evo sl. The Evo is far more cushioned and responsive for me.

The runrepeat numbers on the magic speed 5 don’t look great especially when it retails for €190 in the eu. I’ve already seen it discounted to €142-€165 which is a more sensible price, but even then it still competes with a discounted puma deviate elite 3 or adios pro 4 I really liked the Mach 6, but for me the Evo sl is that much better even with the fit issues.

The Takumi Sen 11 has been on big sales in the EU, you could get it between €100-€130, i was tempted but went for the deviate elite 3 (€135). It’s got a much better fit for me. I’ve been using the adios 9 for some easy runs and 10 x 3 minute threshold runs. They’ve taken a back seat to the velocity nitro 4. In the end I’m not doing much of very fast paced speed work being the hobby jogger that I am.

My easy pace is between 05:15-05:45/km and the Evo sl is fine at those paces for me. It’s not a recovery pace shoe, if you’re hanging back on the heel then the magmax I have is more suitable.

If that's the case then i would suggest a versatile daily trainer that can do some speed. I won't recommend any models with plates/rods to be safe. I'd also stick to models known to have accomodating fits due to your partner's wide feet. Adidas: Supernova Rise 3 or Evo SL (OG version, not the new Woven, for a roomier fit). Asics: Novablast 5 or Superblast 2. Parating na yung SB3, updated with a better midsole, but knowing Asics, pahirapan makahanap nyan at lampas 12k.

Sizing issues aside, I agree the OG Neo Zen is special. Yes its unstable and too soft for some, but its wild and exciting. Kind of reminds me of the RH9U now. Too bad they turned the 2 into just another daily trainer.

Yes its a good upgrade. I only used the Zen1 for easy runs and occasional tempo. RH9U i'd say is slightly less stable but better for long runs compared to the Zen. Same usage din: easy, occasional tempo and slow-moderate pace long runs. Current rotation: Velocity Nitro 4 - 5k or faster intervals, hills sprints EVO SL - Race shoes. Do it all. Planning on replacing this with the Kiprun Tempo. Mag 600kms na kasi 😅 Dynafish Xiao - Same usage as Evo SL but i prefer the firmer foam of the Evo for faster paces. RH9U - easy, slower long runs.

Have not tried the Plaid, will check it out. Though nagiisip ako ngayon na ibenta na lang yung RH9U. Yes its super bouncy and fun but what it does kayang kaya gawin ni Dynafish e. Still thinking. Sagasu did a comparison of the RH9U and DX. Same kami ng verdict. Both are great but slight edge to DX. Pero maganda pa din mafeel mo ung RH9u kasi kakaiba talaga siya, might work better for you.

What you can do is choose between the DX and RH9U for your easy run and slower long sessions Get the F6E as your racer. Skip the F5C then gawin mo na lang dedicated speed trainer yung Plaid.

I just retired my first Evo SL pair at 700km, bought another classic Evo SL, New Evo SL woven and new Evo SL ATR. Used them for my NYC marathon prep last year. First marathon, 3:42:20, in NB SC Elite v5. I also have Superblast 2 and I hate them 😂 All runners are different I guess

Evo SL. You can run easy, progressive or push the last 5k

V+ and Evo SL woven really is a terrific combo.

I have this combo and it’s really great. I feel like I have all my bases covered. V+ is flexible enough for use as a recovery shoe and long runs. Evo SL is great for speed work and shorter runs.
