idk what size you are but amazon's [page](https://www.amazon.com/adidas-FTWWHT-CBLACK-Adizero-blackFtwr/dp/B0D3JBYC9T/ref=sr_1_1?crid=OBXJGP75MO6S&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3Mhg9wC7Up0m13Y3FBKa3pCZFogFBai7yvaArHFn4pVQXcF_ecbtW2Hpf2H5bP0mncbs-VEqYW608uu9KsEL2dp-vO9tNomU_whe4CjOHO8uZamZ2LNEPtKb_19bajI1M0Uk_xiQKLufgUc-abPtZEqQsovNOobKB7vAUcWshVBTibUXbsVMNPRRWNgQwsNBhM-KR_dmYu-srP4F5JOGt06wF67JJSgcEAikggguh8C_US82VIEm2W5_cbdYcRBuMssYCNW3XBIXFz5dEI8iuTMEOWgDtzPbE4eGK1tTVh0.dfOWDUO_nmN7rK5OIfx-596nh9KWkLdUtq9DB6fkRkw&dib_tag=se&keywords=adidas%2Bevo%2Bsl%2Bmen&qid=1761755882&sprefix=adidas%2Bev%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-1&th=1&psc=1) has plenty of wide selections, so idk what you mean by not being able to find them anywhere. I've tried all 4 (boston 13) and here are my thoughts. Evo SL M11-2E: maybe even too wide for me so I thought about going standard. But the midfoot stability was just to prominent to ignore so I decided against it. Rebel v5 M11-2E: Great fit overall just worried about long term durability and also doesn't handle slower/warm up paces well Novablast 5 M11-2E: Extremely plush/soft. Not the shoe for me. Felt like I was running in sand at varying paces. Your exp may differ as its great for some and not for others (like me). Boston 13 M11-D: I tried both the 12 and 13 and opted to run a bit in the 13. The heel of the 12 was a bit abrasive on the Achilles and the geometry felt weird underfoot while testing it out walking. No issues with the initial test of the 13 so I did a few runs in them. Very speedy shoe like the EvoSL and more firm stable so I wanted to love it but I was getting massive arch pain in my right foot so it wasn't the right shoe for me. My recommendation: Hoka Mach 6- M11 2E. This one you for SURE need to get a 2E because even the people who wear standard complain about the narrowness. I had no issues with the 2E variant and it was the one I had the least issues with over the ones listed above. Great for all paces
Before this year I was running in a stability show New Balancea 860 v10. Since those have died and I don't actually need a stability shoe I've tried: * Hoka Mach 6 (keeping for now) * Adidas EvoSL (returned- too unstable) * Asics Novablast 5 (returned- too plush) * New Balance Rebel v5 (returned-less stable than the Mach 6) * Asics Magic Speed (untested as of today) * Adidas Boston 13 (testing) * Brooks Hyperion Max 3 (untested as of today) * Saucony Endorphin Speed (untested as of today) Shoe "science" has changed since the early 2000s. It looks like more shoe are leaning towards having some degree of stack if only to provide a cushion for your body's longevity. Don't discount the New Balances based on your experience from 2007, they've changed up their game too. Your best bet is to either look up "best daily trainers" on youtube to see what shoetubers are recommending, or try [runrepeat](https://runrepeat.com/catalog/running-shoes) and narrow it down to a few choices by filtering what you think you need. Then go into the store try them on and see if your body likes the geometry. Then buy and try (make sure you know exactly what the return window and policy is).
Your mileage my vary as we are of different builds and speeds but here are all the shoes I tested this year to find a good "speed"/sprinterval shoe. here is my personal ranking with brief reasonings of why I picked/dropped them: LiNing Challenger 5 (best in terms of cost, energy return, and progressive runs) (EXTREME BUDGET FRIENDLY \~US$90 shipped.) Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 (light weight and great energy return/propulsive bounce) Hoka Mach 6 (great all rounder, made me feel fast- opt for 2E as this is said to run narrow) Adidas Boston 13 (geometry issue the longer I ran in them) New Balance Rebel v5 (concerns about lifespan/durability) Asics Magic Speed 4 (nothing amazing in comparison to the above) (Speed 5 came out after I made this list- havent tested) Zoom Fly 6 (another geometry issue- also ran narrow for me) Adidas Evo SL (unstable pronation) If I didn't get the LiNing's C5, I would def get the Mach 6. I also just got the Salomon Aero Glide 3 but I haven't had a chance to run in them yet. If I don't like them, I may return them and get the Mach 6 for a non plated option. I'm also looking at the Saucony Azura as a non plated alt for the Saucony Speed
Adidas evo sl boston adios4 would be my line up 2nd New balance 1080 v5 more elite
I’m an E with a tall instep. The NB5 and Evo SL (OG loose upper model) both give me so much room. 👍
I’m not crazy wide but I got an E width. I find the Novablast 5 and OG Evo SL to be very roomy.
Been running since Sept and really like the Adidas Evo SL and Asics Novablast 5.
1) Adidas Evo SL 2) Li-Ning Feidian 5 Challenger 3) Asics Megablast
Yeah daily/tempo. Overlaps with the Evo SL a lot.
I refused to buy the Evo SL as my first running shoe because the hype seemed like it could be kinda fake. I just bought it though because of an expiring discount on my Adidas account but it lived up to the hype for me. Going to use them again tonight.
I could definitely tell the difference between the Evo SL and Neo Vista 2 blindfolded. The NV2 is extremely soft with much lower bounce!
Def do research as it seems like everyone has different thresholds on what they need stability wise. But the Evo SL covers a lot of bases as a daily trainer than can go on faster runs too. Then another max cushion shoe for recovery and zone 2 runs, maybe overlap as a daily too for you. I’ve seen the Novablast 5 for 80 at Dicks this week. Out of stock now but there will be more sales.
I’m a slow newbie that had no issues with my Evo SLs and stability. I came from a powerlifting background so I wasn’t sedentary before running though.
The best running shoe for you is the one that fits your foot the best. I like the new balance rebel v4s for daily training and SC elite v4s for racing. Largely because both fit my foot and strike parttern almost perfectly. I've also been enjoying the adidas evo sl. For daily walking, I've been fully converted into the minimalist, zero drop shoes. I use a pair of lems on the daily. I find that cushioned shoes for prolonged periods of standing or walking actually make my ankles feel uncomfortable. Not so much for the no stack/lower stack stuffm
I ran Big Sur last week with a pair of Evo SLs. They were great, felt similar to wearing super shoes. Only issue is they’re unstable on downhill, and big sur is a notoriously steep course so they destroyed my quads. I would definitely wear them again for a flatter course. I ran at a 7:55 min mile pace and don’t think I’d wanna use them for anything slower.
I’ve run 3 marathons in my pair so far so I don’t believe the not good for long b distance stuff. It’s literally the same foam as what was on the Adios Pro 3. I will say they are not the best for daily running since they don’t really like going slow but they can absolutely do long distance unless you have unusually fragile ankles
Might be an unpopular opinion due to “instability” and I know you don’t have it on your list of shoes but the Evo SL is that shoe for me. I’ve done everything from 5k a to my first marathon (and then my second marathon) in the Evo SL. It’s perhaps the most versatile shoe I’ve used. The instability aspect of them are so over blown and this is coming from someone who used to frequently roll my ankles while playing basketball
And here I am wondering what stability issues everyone is talking about after I’ve done 2 full marathons (first one was a 5:30 since my hammy locked up and the second was in 4:32) in the EVO SL and had no problems with the shoes or how my feet felt afterwards
I am not loyal to one brand. I try shoes and what works for me is what I buy. I have Nike, Adidas and Brooks shoe in rotation right now. My favorite is Adidas EVO SL and for race day Nike Vaporfly 4.
What type of runs do you use it for? Technical drills? I really want to like them but I find the low stack hard on the legs, so maybe I'm missing something? I also run in the PX3S, AP4, TS11, B13 and Evo SL (+ATR), and all of these (except the B13) shine in their own area. Where I live (in Europe), the shoe is fairly cheap and easy to get, but even so, I've never seen another runner with them. Maybe because they are inaccessible in certain areas, they are more coveted?
Also, the B13s had a narrower toe box. As much as I want to like this shoe, I find it very bland, compared to the EVOs.
