Evo SL. You can run easy, progressive or push the last 5k

I just retired my first Evo SL pair at 700km, bought another classic Evo SL, New Evo SL woven and new Evo SL ATR. Used them for my NYC marathon prep last year. First marathon, 3:42:20, in NB SC Elite v5. I also have Superblast 2 and I hate them 😂 All runners are different I guess

Tried Adizero SL and for me was really the best shoe!

I'm not, been doing triatlhon since I was child and it's been a long path trying shoes, so far for me the last shoes which I used (Adizero EVO SL) where the best if you compare all the aspects. To be honest I rather Nike for competiction (VaporFly, AlphaFly)... Also tried Asic Trinosa, Novablast... But didn't make me feel as adizero did. Maybe you could try to go to the store and try them, you know, each shoe is a worlds and you must feel yourself how it feels!

If cost is an issue you can get the OG Evo SL for less than the Exo. It's under $100 on Adidas' own site with their SPRING code depending on the color. That said, I don't have issues with the upper the same way others do. As far as what's better, AP4 is a more direct Vaporfly replacement while the Evo is plenty quick just don't expect the carbon experience in non-carbon. I personally get a lot more use out of my Evos than my AP4 partly because I have other carbons that I like more than the AP4.

DN3 has a full plate, I don't think it's really ideal to do every run in them because of lack of toe flexion.  Evo SL only has a mid foot shank so that should be fine. Neo Zen another option.

The Mach 6 should be a do it all shoe that can handle any speed/distance. In your position I'd keep the Mach 6 and Evo SL and just rotate them every other run, trying to time the Evo SL for your speed work day and the Mach 6 for your longest/slowest run. For most people the Evo SL is good up until 8ish miles (though I've done up to 12 with threshold work and no issues so it's person dependent).

The Evo could be a dedicated speed shoe but that's not really it's use case. It's a daily that can do speed work vs. more dedicated speed shoes like the Saucony Endorphin Speed, Asics Magic Speed, Puma Deviate Nitro, Adidas Boston, etc. Dedicated speed shoes usually have a plate or rods. Daily trainers that can handle tempo/speed work like the Evo, Saucony Azura, Puma Velocity Nitro, and Asics Noosa Tri don't have plates. At the end of the day, categories aren't hard and fast and you can use a shoe how you want. How the shoe ultimately works for you is most important.

I mean...no. The Megablast is a do everything shoe that can be raced in at marathon distance. The Evo SL is a daily trainer that can do speed work.  There's overlap but calling the Evo a worse Megablast is disingenuous, they're different categories of shoes and priced accordingly. You can often find the Evo SL for less than half the price of the Megablast.  The Megablast also has almost 9mm more stack in the heel based on actual measurements and 7mm in the forefoot (RunRepeat). They're just not really that comparable.

I definitely think you should get a proper shoe sizing first since shoes that are too large or too small can cause these issues. I'd also maybe pay attention to shoe stiffness. Do you feel like the shoes are properly flexing at toe off or staying more rigid? Maybe your toes/feet are able to bend in the shoe but the shoe itself isn't actually bending, putting weird pressure on parts of your feet? The Evo is a very flexible shoe. The Vomero+ is a stiff shoe. I tend to prefer flexible shoes that enable my foot to flex the way it wants to flex and have had issues with stiffer shoes (though not all stiff shoes) in the past, especially in the plantar area. RunRepeat has data on shoe stiffness but shoes flex differently for different people and the on foot feel varies so it's a helpful resource for general guidance but not the end all, be all.

idk what size you are but amazon's [page](https://www.amazon.com/adidas-FTWWHT-CBLACK-Adizero-blackFtwr/dp/B0D3JBYC9T/ref=sr_1_1?crid=OBXJGP75MO6S&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3Mhg9wC7Up0m13Y3FBKa3pCZFogFBai7yvaArHFn4pVQXcF_ecbtW2Hpf2H5bP0mncbs-VEqYW608uu9KsEL2dp-vO9tNomU_whe4CjOHO8uZamZ2LNEPtKb_19bajI1M0Uk_xiQKLufgUc-abPtZEqQsovNOobKB7vAUcWshVBTibUXbsVMNPRRWNgQwsNBhM-KR_dmYu-srP4F5JOGt06wF67JJSgcEAikggguh8C_US82VIEm2W5_cbdYcRBuMssYCNW3XBIXFz5dEI8iuTMEOWgDtzPbE4eGK1tTVh0.dfOWDUO_nmN7rK5OIfx-596nh9KWkLdUtq9DB6fkRkw&dib_tag=se&keywords=adidas%2Bevo%2Bsl%2Bmen&qid=1761755882&sprefix=adidas%2Bev%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-1&th=1&psc=1) has plenty of wide selections, so idk what you mean by not being able to find them anywhere. I've tried all 4 (boston 13) and here are my thoughts. Evo SL M11-2E: maybe even too wide for me so I thought about going standard. But the midfoot stability was just to prominent to ignore so I decided against it. Rebel v5 M11-2E: Great fit overall just worried about long term durability and also doesn't handle slower/warm up paces well Novablast 5 M11-2E: Extremely plush/soft. Not the shoe for me. Felt like I was running in sand at varying paces. Your exp may differ as its great for some and not for others (like me). Boston 13 M11-D: I tried both the 12 and 13 and opted to run a bit in the 13. The heel of the 12 was a bit abrasive on the Achilles and the geometry felt weird underfoot while testing it out walking. No issues with the initial test of the 13 so I did a few runs in them. Very speedy shoe like the EvoSL and more firm stable so I wanted to love it but I was getting massive arch pain in my right foot so it wasn't the right shoe for me. My recommendation: Hoka Mach 6- M11 2E. This one you for SURE need to get a 2E because even the people who wear standard complain about the narrowness. I had no issues with the 2E variant and it was the one I had the least issues with over the ones listed above. Great for all paces

Your mileage my vary as we are of different builds and speeds but here are all the shoes I tested this year to find a good "speed"/sprinterval shoe. here is my personal ranking with brief reasonings of why I picked/dropped them: LiNing Challenger 5 (best in terms of cost, energy return, and progressive runs) (EXTREME BUDGET FRIENDLY \~US$90 shipped.) Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 (light weight and great energy return/propulsive bounce) Hoka Mach 6 (great all rounder, made me feel fast- opt for 2E as this is said to run narrow) Adidas Boston 13 (geometry issue the longer I ran in them) New Balance Rebel v5 (concerns about lifespan/durability) Asics Magic Speed 4 (nothing amazing in comparison to the above) (Speed 5 came out after I made this list- havent tested) Zoom Fly 6 (another geometry issue- also ran narrow for me) Adidas Evo SL (unstable pronation) If I didn't get the LiNing's C5, I would def get the Mach 6. I also just got the Salomon Aero Glide 3 but I haven't had a chance to run in them yet. If I don't like them, I may return them and get the Mach 6 for a non plated option. I'm also looking at the Saucony Azura as a non plated alt for the Saucony Speed

For me, it was far more stable and snappy than the EvoSL. If you're looking for a plateless option, the Saucony Azura is the plateless equivalent to the ES5. I don't know enough about it to recommend it but its something to consider. Another shoe in the running was the Hoka Mach 6 (wide). None of these are "stability" shoes but they do have stability elements built in. If you're looking for a speedy stability shoe, look at the Saucony Tempus 1 (ver 2 runs narrow from what I recall) Ultimately I went with the LiNing Challenger 5.

Before this year I was running in a stability show New Balancea 860 v10. Since those have died and I don't actually need a stability shoe I've tried: * Hoka Mach 6 (keeping for now) * Adidas EvoSL (returned- too unstable) * Asics Novablast 5 (returned- too plush) * New Balance Rebel v5 (returned-less stable than the Mach 6) * Asics Magic Speed (untested as of today) * Adidas Boston 13 (testing) * Brooks Hyperion Max 3 (untested as of today) * Saucony Endorphin Speed (untested as of today) Shoe "science" has changed since the early 2000s. It looks like more shoe are leaning towards having some degree of stack if only to provide a cushion for your body's longevity. Don't discount the New Balances based on your experience from 2007, they've changed up their game too. Your best bet is to either look up "best daily trainers" on youtube to see what shoetubers are recommending, or try [runrepeat](https://runrepeat.com/catalog/running-shoes) and narrow it down to a few choices by filtering what you think you need. Then go into the store try them on and see if your body likes the geometry. Then buy and try (make sure you know exactly what the return window and policy is).

I’m an E with a tall instep. The NB5 and Evo SL (OG loose upper model) both give me so much room. 👍

I’m not crazy wide but I got an E width. I find the Novablast 5 and OG Evo SL to be very roomy.

Been running since Sept and really like the Adidas Evo SL and Asics Novablast 5.

1) Adidas Evo SL 2) Li-Ning Feidian 5 Challenger 3) Asics Megablast

Yeah daily/tempo. Overlaps with the Evo SL a lot.

I refused to buy the Evo SL as my first running shoe because the hype seemed like it could be kinda fake. I just bought it though because of an expiring discount on my Adidas account but it lived up to the hype for me. Going to use them again tonight.

I could definitely tell the difference between the Evo SL and Neo Vista 2 blindfolded. The NV2 is extremely soft with much lower bounce!

I’m a slow newbie that had no issues with my Evo SLs and stability. I came from a powerlifting background so I wasn’t sedentary before running though.

Def do research as it seems like everyone has different thresholds on what they need stability wise. But the Evo SL covers a lot of bases as a daily trainer than can go on faster runs too. Then another max cushion shoe for recovery and zone 2 runs, maybe overlap as a daily too for you. I’ve seen the Novablast 5 for 80 at Dicks this week. Out of stock now but there will be more sales.

Megablast is the best long run and feels similar to Evo SL to me. Slightly more firm but more protective too.

Mine was a bit tight too. I just took out the thick Megablast insole and put in a thin one. Now it feels similar to my OG Evo’s large volume upper. Such an easy fix that seems like nobody did.

If that's the case then i would suggest a versatile daily trainer that can do some speed. I won't recommend any models with plates/rods to be safe. I'd also stick to models known to have accomodating fits due to your partner's wide feet. Adidas: Supernova Rise 3 or Evo SL (OG version, not the new Woven, for a roomier fit). Asics: Novablast 5 or Superblast 2. Parating na yung SB3, updated with a better midsole, but knowing Asics, pahirapan makahanap nyan at lampas 12k.

Sizing issues aside, I agree the OG Neo Zen is special. Yes its unstable and too soft for some, but its wild and exciting. Kind of reminds me of the RH9U now. Too bad they turned the 2 into just another daily trainer.

Yes its a good upgrade. I only used the Zen1 for easy runs and occasional tempo. RH9U i'd say is slightly less stable but better for long runs compared to the Zen. Same usage din: easy, occasional tempo and slow-moderate pace long runs. Current rotation: Velocity Nitro 4 - 5k or faster intervals, hills sprints EVO SL - Race shoes. Do it all. Planning on replacing this with the Kiprun Tempo. Mag 600kms na kasi 😅 Dynafish Xiao - Same usage as Evo SL but i prefer the firmer foam of the Evo for faster paces. RH9U - easy, slower long runs.

Have not tried the Plaid, will check it out. Though nagiisip ako ngayon na ibenta na lang yung RH9U. Yes its super bouncy and fun but what it does kayang kaya gawin ni Dynafish e. Still thinking. Sagasu did a comparison of the RH9U and DX. Same kami ng verdict. Both are great but slight edge to DX. Pero maganda pa din mafeel mo ung RH9u kasi kakaiba talaga siya, might work better for you.

What you can do is choose between the DX and RH9U for your easy run and slower long sessions Get the F6E as your racer. Skip the F5C then gawin mo na lang dedicated speed trainer yung Plaid.
