My very 1st shoes is Adizero SL, got it ng 3250 (6500 reg. price) Adidas app usually has it on discount, probably wait ng double digit sale to get it 50% off and get SL2 (kasi mas okay ata yun)
I just checked, it's actually 50% off on Adidas website or order thru app para free delivery!
How about Adidas SL2? Can be found at a decent price, lowish stack, nice bit of energy return from the Lightstrike Pro insert too. Evo SL is probably a better shoe overall, but is close to 40mm stack in the heel so maybe you’re looking for something flatter?
Adizero SL2 (older, different line) may be good. The core of the midsole is the same foam as the EVO SL, but it's encased in an EVA foam that makes the shoe more stable and less expensive. It's also older so often steeply discounted, but consider sizing up a half size from your EVO SL size. Goldilocks shoe for me, it's what I would choose if I was traveling and could only bring one pair of shoes. Comfortable both for running and walking, stable enough but it doesn't totally control your ankles, light for a daily trainer but still protective, enough pop to have some fun on strides but not so heavily built for speed that it's hard to run easy, etc. The only downside I have found is seasonal, as a heavy sweater in a humid area: the insole can absorb enough water to start squelching in the summer if I go over 2 hours. That said, I usually use other shoes for my long runs anyway, so it's not really an issue.
If you're going to buy them for full price: I think the best bang for the buck at the moment is the EVO SL. In theory, the shoe for that job is the Adizero SL2. But being in my second pair of those I honestly wouldn't buy them again and they will fall out of my shoe rotation as soon as I'm done with them. Me (and many others from what I read) have a lot of niggles with them, hotspots, they get uncomfortable very quickly, the midsole deteriorates quite fast and they feel terrible... For a bit more money, you have the EVO SL that outperforms the SL2 in every aspect. EVO SL is a great shoe that can do many things, and to be honest, while it is a tempo shoe that shines more at Marathon/HM even 10k paces than on an easy run (where is comfortable but a tad unstable for some) I think this is probably the best shoe for what you're looking for. Is my favorite run easy, run faster, run longer at different paces, etc shoe. All while being very comfortable (at least for me). Adios 9 is more pure speed-oriented (speed intervals), like a racing flat with low stack. I personally wouldn't consider this one for your case, but some people do everything in Adios! Boston 12 from my understanding (haven't tried them) is very firm and works great for long runs, tempo paces, and even some speed work... but many people hate the firmness. Similar use case as EVO (but more long runs oriented) but opting for firm midsole rather than soft as the EVO.
Agree good choice. sl2 more comfy/cushion than last kinvara I tried but has some pop from lightstrike pro
I have both. I don't think it's necessary to buy the SL2 when you already have the Evo SL. But if you only have the SL2, the Evo SL is a good addition.
Tyr Maverick is awesome and on sale for 78 bucks on Zappos. For versatility I recommend SL2 tho and also on sale for cheap.
Adidas SL2! Cheaper than novablast and will last longer. Can handle almost any type of run well!
It might be the inherent instability of the thick soft foam of the Evo SL that aggravated your soleus. The Adizero SL2 has some of the same Lightstrike Pro surrounded by an EVA frame and a little lower stack height, making it much more stable
100% agree as a 90 kg runner. The Boston 12 is a great tempo shoe for me, with the caveat that the upper is pretty annoying. It's not a deal breaker, it's just kind of annoying to have to fiddle with. You can find the Boston 12 and 13 on sale for some pretty good deals usually. I got the pair of Boston 12s I am running in now for $60 and have a pair of Boston 13s on order that I got for $76. I got a pair of SL2s really cheap, hoping to use them as a daily runner but they are just so stiff that I started to worry that I would injure myself running in them. I had to demote them do casual use.
I would caution against SL2. May be it has to do with my weight (75-77kg) but I find them comfortable only for the distances up to 10km. Beyond that, I would love to have shoes with more cushioning.
