I have a GT 2000 -13, Kayano 31, Nimbus 23 and Pegasus 39 (Shield). Nimbus 23 I use for training/outdoor walks as cushioning has reduced GT 2000-13 is my daily trainer + runner Nike takes the same place as GT2000 when I'm alternating. However I couldn't hit the sweet spot with Kayano, It's feel heavy for runs, too cushioned for training. How'd you suggest using the Kayano 31? I was actually planning to simply use Kayano as a sneaker/outdoor shoe. Bought it for 4.9k that's the only thing stopping me for using it as outdoor shoe.
Topo Specter 2 (half size up) and Atmos or Atmos 2 in wide have been Godsends for me. Nimbus in 4E as well as Nike Pegasus/Vomero in XW have been getting less wide with each release. Specter 2s are a bit snug widthwise but they are so lightweight and bouncy I love them. Atmos are great in wide with plenty of room for my paddle feet. The natural toe box is truly a game changer, will have to give Altras a try someday but all "normal brand" Asics, Nike, even the NB 1080s in 4E seem to be getting more narrow, and after going Topo I don't think I'll go back. I'm 6'0" 195 lb and average 25 miles a week, 7:00/min is fast for me and 8+ is slower. Have had issues with Mortons neuroma in one foot which has been saved using Yoga Toes daily, wider daily shoes(Whitin brand on Amazon), and Topo for running. Edit: I just received and ran in the Atmos 2s in wide and they are a touch more narrow than the Atmos, small blister on one pinky toe I imagine they will be fine after a few runs. I also am a supinator/mid to forefoot striker.
Already is good, but if you want another option, asics gel nimbus 4e works for me
They nimbus lasts forever. I think I walked like 600+ miles and ran around 200-350 on one pair.
After owning older models of Gel Nimbus and the 1080v’s, the Vomero Plus is my answer too. Incredible shoe for me
You can find asics nimbus or gel kayano for 5.5k if may malapit sayo outlet. Or new balance 1080 or more. Pede din puma magmax. Heavy side din ako, while I like to explore Chinese brands, preference ko din ung matry ko.
Before I read the whole OP I was going to suggest Nimbus. They are quite durable and nothing beats their comfort (so far). Do you use them for walking as well or are they just for the running? Because if they were your daily shoes, the simple answer would be to have two pairs of them for a day to day rotation. Or something lighter and bouncier like Endorphin Speed when you want to go for more fun and fast run. Then back to Nimbus when you just want the comfort. I have found NB 1080v14 to be quite comfy and maybe even softer than Nimbus. Then there are Cliftons which you mention. And I am waiting to try Vomero Plus, because they are supposed to be more breathable and softer than Vomero 18.
I have SB2 and SB3, and I'm a heavy runner \~195 lbs I'm on my second pair of SB2 with 300 km and the first one lasted 1000 km, still have it and it still feels good I retired them because of the milestone and because of the color way... I only have logged about 100 km in the SB3 and they look and feel as good as new. Sole looks good even considering that I run in a very abrasive road. My previous experience with super soft shoe was Mizuno Neo Vista, Amazing feeling but durability was very poor. Foam deformed and sole had serious flaws after less than 400 kms. Asics shoes are expensive but I've been loyal since they have a very good durability for my weight. I've own Novablast 4, kayano and Nimbus. All good.
ASICS nimbus are the best I’ve found
I’m 80kg and a decent runner. Love soft shoes, asics nimbus are the best I’ve tried for training in
