Ex nimbus 25 enjoyer here, they were lovely! Might try to bring them out for a run this evening see if they have any miles left in them😁 Now I'm trying out clifton 10's and they are quite nice too!
I don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus if you can get them on sale to meet your budget. Ran my first half marathon with them. r/runningshoegeeks have a whole list of recommendations on their wiki. I’ve had in, order of purchase: - Brooks Ghost 15 - only pair I’ve bought Instore after a gait analysis. - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 - Adidas Adios Pro 3 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra (for trails) - ASICS Superblast 2 Bought all but the Brooks Ghost from Sportsshoes.com. They often have good sales and discounts. At time of purchase: - Adidas Adios Pro 3 were £135 down from £210 - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 were £112 down from £180 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed were £112 down from £160 - ASICS Superblasts never go on sale Sizing: Went half a size up for the Gel Nimbus 25s, Adios Pro 3 and Agravic Speed. Went true size for Ghost and Superblast 2. I am a very mid runner. I mainly use the Superblast 2s and the Agravic Speeds. The Brooks Ghost were highly recommended on forums and shops. Upper was comfortable but the midsole left a lot to be desired. I moved on from them very quickly to the Gel Nimbus. The Ghosts have been relegated to generic gym usage. Both of the Adidas are ultra light weight and designed for faster runners than me. Less comfy upper but really fun to run in after the initial break in and issues below. They are both narrow and the insole on both pairs cut into my right foot quite a bit when I first started running in them to the point I would wear blister plasters if I chose to run in them. That issue is gone now but the right foot on the Adios Pro 3 still never feels quite right. Chances are it’s just this particular pair and I forget about it once I’m actually running. ASICS Gel Nimbus and ASICS Superblast have convinced me to go for ASICS race shoes when my Adidas Adios Pro 3s give out. They’re super comfy. Ran my first ever half on the Gel Nimbus and my first marathon in the Superblast 2s.
Which version the nimbus 25 made me feel like I was riding a bouncy out of control bus in a weird way lol
Nimbus 25,26 and 27 is the great for cloud like feel. Sink in feel. Another one is the glycerin max from brooks. Best recovery and easy run shoe.
Recovering from 5th Metatarsal fracture, will start walking next week for strength and physio. Which shoe would you recommend? (Currently using Nimbus 25)
Thanks buddy! Doctor is giving a generic advice- “wear anything comfortable not too hard not too soft”. Will keep using nimbus as I don’t plan to do anything rigorous for next few weeks.
I've been an Asics Nimbus boy for ages - I am on my 5th...6th... consecutive Nimbus, with a short detour to the GT2000, that I didn't like. Since Nimbus 24 they've gone rocker but appearently the 24s had a stiff upper, 25s fixed it, I have the current model 26. Still have my old non-rocker Nimbus 17s. There are some things I like the 17s for better, but for just straight running - loving the 26s. TL;DR - Asics Gel Nimbus 25 (if you can find on clearance somewhere in your size still) or 26 (current model).
Nimbus 25s are working pretty good for my 6’3 280lb body
First of all sorry for the late reply. From my past daily trainers which are nova3, nimbus 25, nova5, and 1080v13, I'd choose 1080 over other trainers. I also consider of coping 1080v14 for my next daily trainer when I retire my nova5 soon.
It sounds like you're looking for a 'long run cruiser', and something like the Mizuno neo vista, Puma Magmax, Asics Gel Nimbus, Nike Vomero Plus etc are the type of shoes which would be suitable. Max stack cushion but supportive even at slower paces. I have the Neo Vista 1's and Nimbus 25's and feel like I could run forever in them. I use the Vista's for longer runs I can pick up the pace in if I choose to and the Nimbus for my slower recovery runs. The Vista's have a nylon plate in them which you don't feel, so maybe more suitable for longer runs support wise, while the Nimbus are softer but I can't say how they'd feel over a marathon distance as I haven't taken them that far. But the day after I have ran in either shoe, my legs and feet feel great, so they offer a good amount of protection. Try some out at a store and see what's suitable for you. A friend of mine ran this years Manchester marathon in 5hr+ and ran it in Brooks Ghosts which people wouldn't class as a marathon shoe. But different strokes/shoes for different folks!
I have run (lots of miles), walked and absolutely endorse the Nimbus 25, 26 and 27. I own and wear all 3 years (I still wear my 25 too).
