I was a fan of Nimbus, but my 25s have some downsides. In 26 Asics did not fix them all, and at the same time ruined amazing midsole. Nimbus26 is firmer than 25. It is even firmer than Novablast 4, which in store appeared as more comfy than Nimbus. I am yet to try Novablast 5,which is said to be softer than previous editions and Nimbus27, which is supposed to go back to soft midsole while having more breathable upper. Breathability is one of the issues with Nimbus 25 and other max comfort shoes. They are usually well padded and quite heavy. That makes feet hot as hell. Vomero has the same problem. Glycerin max or NB 1080 are supposed to be more airy

Before I read the whole OP I was going to suggest Nimbus. They are quite durable and nothing beats their comfort (so far). Do you use them for walking as well or are they just for the running? Because if they were your daily shoes, the simple answer would be to have two pairs of them for a day to day rotation. Or something lighter and bouncier like Endorphin Speed when you want to go for more fun and fast run. Then back to Nimbus when you just want the comfort. I have found NB 1080v14 to be quite comfy and maybe even softer than Nimbus. Then there are Cliftons which you mention. And I am waiting to try Vomero Plus, because they are supposed to be more breathable and softer than Vomero 18.

Ex nimbus 25 enjoyer here, they were lovely! Might try to bring them out for a run this evening see if they have any miles left in them😁 Now I'm trying out clifton 10's and they are quite nice too!

I don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus if you can get them on sale to meet your budget. Ran my first half marathon with them. r/runningshoegeeks have a whole list of recommendations on their wiki. I’ve had in, order of purchase: - Brooks Ghost 15 - only pair I’ve bought Instore after a gait analysis. - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 - Adidas Adios Pro 3 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra (for trails) - ASICS Superblast 2 Bought all but the Brooks Ghost from Sportsshoes.com. They often have good sales and discounts. At time of purchase: - Adidas Adios Pro 3 were £135 down from £210 - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 were £112 down from £180 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed were £112 down from £160 - ASICS Superblasts never go on sale Sizing: Went half a size up for the Gel Nimbus 25s, Adios Pro 3 and Agravic Speed. Went true size for Ghost and Superblast 2. I am a very mid runner. I mainly use the Superblast 2s and the Agravic Speeds. The Brooks Ghost were highly recommended on forums and shops. Upper was comfortable but the midsole left a lot to be desired. I moved on from them very quickly to the Gel Nimbus. The Ghosts have been relegated to generic gym usage. Both of the Adidas are ultra light weight and designed for faster runners than me. Less comfy upper but really fun to run in after the initial break in and issues below. They are both narrow and the insole on both pairs cut into my right foot quite a bit when I first started running in them to the point I would wear blister plasters if I chose to run in them. That issue is gone now but the right foot on the Adios Pro 3 still never feels quite right. Chances are it’s just this particular pair and I forget about it once I’m actually running. ASICS Gel Nimbus and ASICS Superblast have convinced me to go for ASICS race shoes when my Adidas Adios Pro 3s give out. They’re super comfy. Ran my first ever half on the Gel Nimbus and my first marathon in the Superblast 2s.

Nimbus 25,26 and 27 is the great for cloud like feel. Sink in feel. Another one is the glycerin max from brooks. Best recovery and easy run shoe.

Recovering from 5th Metatarsal fracture, will start walking next week for strength and physio. Which shoe would you recommend? (Currently using Nimbus 25)

Thanks buddy! Doctor is giving a generic advice- “wear anything comfortable not too hard not too soft”. Will keep using nimbus as I don’t plan to do anything rigorous for next few weeks.

I've been an Asics Nimbus boy for ages - I am on my 5th...6th... consecutive Nimbus, with a short detour to the GT2000, that I didn't like. Since Nimbus 24 they've gone rocker but appearently the 24s had a stiff upper, 25s fixed it, I have the current model 26. Still have my old non-rocker Nimbus 17s. There are some things I like the 17s for better, but for just straight running - loving the 26s. TL;DR - Asics Gel Nimbus 25 (if you can find on clearance somewhere in your size still) or 26 (current model).

Happy to join in the Asics train. The MSRP is a bit high, but there's a deal to be had once in a while, just keep an eye on it. I am on my I don't even know...5th or 6th Nimbus. Did detour to the GT2000 model once, didn't like it. Currently on Nimbus 26, although still have my old Nimbus 17 they are still in OK shape... I believe they went rocker (similar to Hoka) for 24 but it wasn't great...25 made it good, 26 was minor improvements. There are some things I still prefer my non-rocker 17s for, but strictly for running can't beat the rockers - they are great for that running stride motion, although they get a little wobbly laterally so I would not recommend them for trail running or if you have wobbly ankles. The wife is on one of the cheaper models... Cumulus maybe, generally likes it. Not a runner though, mostly just for walking and everyday life.

I agree, everyone is different, and everyone has a shoe preference, it's all about trial and error, I loved the Vomero when I started running, then Nike decided to change the whole design of the shoe, and it just didn't work for me. I switched to ASICS, had a few variations of the Nimbus. However, the Nimbus 26 was a downgrade from the 25, and the 27 did not have too many good reviews either. What I'm getting at is that even if you do find a brand, or a shoe that works the next edition in the same series might not be as great, or may just be the best shoe you ever had. I currently have Adidas Boston 12 (older version of the shoe) which I just used for the two oceans ultra marathon and it was absolutely amazing. The Bostons however comes with it's issues, (short laces, which loosens up while running,as well as the tongue shifting, causing discomfort) I laced up with a longer pair of laces which sorted out these issues. Also in my rotation... ASICS Noosa tri 15 x 2pairs ASICS Nimbus 26 for the slow easy longs runs And currently looking at getting the Metaspeed for race day (my race pace is around 7:15/mile)

FFMv4 was a beast in that regard (soft and stable), Nimbus 25 also Newer versions are more firm
