SUPERBLAST 2
Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.

I have the MS4, it doesn't really feel good for me unless I'm running sub 3:50 or so. I wouldn't recommend them at all for 5:15. They just really don't come alive until you're pushing the pace and giving them enough juice. I wear the superblast for anything 4:15 and above, it handles all those paces well.
I have ran in the MS4, NB3-4-5, TS9-10, SB2. Imo they're a little more narrow than the daily trainers, but they're supposed to be a lightweight training shoe/budget racer, so the upper is pretty thin. They are narrow like the TS. I use the MS4 for interval and tempo workouts, they really don't feel very good until you're running sub 4:00/km in my experience. Otherwise they just kinda feel terrible. But once you get moving they come alive. But to me they aren't good enough to be racers, so I just use them for extra pop in workouts.
Yeah they're a pretty specific user group. I just like to have separate shoes for separate things and really dislike the "do it all" shoes. Once my current metaspeeds are too old for racing I'll probably add them to the workout rotation, but I don't race anything over 10k anymore so it takes a while for them to get there. The magic speed 4s I had for almost 15 months before retiring them at 600k
I use them as my workout shoe, so I'm in them twice a week, depending on the workouts we have on the schedule. I like them a lot, they're great "dress rehearsals" for using the Metaspeed in races. I prefer to save the costly shoes for races rather than burning through them on workouts. Anything > 4:00/km I wear the Superblast 2. The Magicspeed doesn't really come alive until you're around 3:55/km or so, in my experience. Asics is just the shoe brand that's been working best for me so I have a full lineup of them and it's been great.
Easy day or long run (anything up to MP) - Superblast 2 Speed work (under MP) - magic speed. Race: metaspeed. This is my shoe rotation
because it's 80 less than the metaspeed and is more durable with a thicker upper and training foam on the bottom. i use it as my workout shoe and save the metaspeed for races.

Edge ~ VF1,2 EP3, DNE4, you can consider AP4;
In my case Sky and AP 4 feel different as a mid/heel foot striker; Sky is to flat, stiff/firm, and AP4 is soft, more natural or even rolling
I have them and I agree, they're solid for speed work/race day pero i HATE doing warm up/cooldown paces on them. Sobrang sakit sa binti
I'd recommend Asics Magic Speed 4 if you want a carbon plated shoe or Asics Superblast if you don't want to deal with the initial pains of a plated shoe. I personally use the MS4 for tempo, speed drills, and race day mainly because I don't want to spend a lot for a plated shoe. It gets the job done for me, and I feel the difference in speed when I use them For the Superblast, I personally don't own a pair but I see a lot of reviews that they can really go for a non plated shoe. I pronate too due to my wide feet so I just made sure to get the wide option. I recommend to do the same if you're getting these Edit: Whatever you get, it is highly advisable not to try on a new pair on race day so save the new pair for the next race
The magic speed 4 is very mid, not a good shoe for what it should be. The newer magic speed 5 seems to be basically a stripped down cheaper metaspeed edge tokyo.
I own the Megablasts, but don't own the SB3. Megablast is a very fast shoe with not the most comfortable upper. In my opinion, it should be viewed as a plateless racer rather than a do-it-all training shoe like the Superblast. The slowest I can comfortably take it is a marathon paced run. Most comfortable pace is HM to 10km pace. I've taken it all the way to 3km pace, and it's surprisingly stable enough to handle even that. But on easy runs, I struggle a lot with it. It's super duper energetic. The ride experience reminds me a lot of the EVO SL in such a way that it is very energetic and will push you to run fast. Only difference is the Megablast is built like a tank.
I may be one of the very few people who loved the Magic Speed 4 hahahaha I’ve always been a high stack guy— always preferred shoes at 40mm heel stack minimum. The Magic Speed 4 was perfect for me because it had the snappiness I wanted on a workout shoe, durability that is better than race shoes, and the high stack height that I was always looking for. Thank you for your detailed review of the Magic Speed 5. It made me realize that the Magic Speed 4 was probably a one-off shoe that won’t be repeated.
If you can still find them, Magic Speed 4. Firm and snappy, and despite being tall, still very much stable.
If you use it as your tempo shoe, it's a beginner-friendly shoe in that regard. It's also a great shoe if you're a forefoot striker or someone who pushes off a lot. I have owned the Magic Speed 4s up to around 300km before selling it. It's a durable shoe that does an ok job as a tempo shoe. It can handle daily training miles but it's an uncomfortable experience. I personally found the midsole foam to be way too firm, and the plate makes it worse.
This looks promising. My Magic Speed 4 is way over 500kms and still has some pop for fast sessions. I like the MS4’s firmer foams compared to other super trainers. Been interested in lower stack shoes that can go the distance and this might be one I can consider.
I kinda feel like they became softer now than before. Maybe it’s just me because I’m leaning towards the heavier side it provides enough support for me on speedier sessions.
