I have the AP4 and did my first session in the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4 just now. Like em both a lot, AP4 is suuuper soft, Puma also soft but way more stable. They both feel quick, but the Puma felt more stable for a Marathon. The AP4 on tired legs is a killer, the Puma is considered one of the quickest shoes at the moment while still being stable. Also the fit feels better, the AP4 feels like a nailcatcher while on my run today the puma felt like a sock, maybe a lil loose. The Puma is brand new but still "only 250" compared to the metaspeed. Tried the metaspeed and would never use it for marathon, because you gotta have perfect form all the way, maybe because my feet felt "wide" in them eventho they arent really. Thats just my experience so far, in the end i think realisticly i would always go for comfort over "pace" because they are all quick, in the end you rather have less pain for the same time and a shorter recovery. Ran my first HM in evo sl's and did a 1.32, also worked without carbon.

yes it make sense, I usually do it as followed : I have like pre retired carbon shoes between 250-400/500k (Im trying to not go over 500K with carbon shoes knowing also that Im quite a big runner) and I used those in session and only keep like the race day shoes for the really big session for example 4x5K this sunday Ill wear my metaspeed sky tokyo that have 30K and thus Ill run my marathon with them having around 60K something like this. I also trully believe that Im willing to make the extra cost in order to buy more carbon shoes I was just wondering if there are physiological benefits of putting non carbon shoes like superblast 2 for a long steady run in order to make it more difficult and then eventually making more adaptation

Nahh Megablast/Sky Tokyo You can do all your runs in the Megablast. Sky Tokyo for those marathon/faster paces

6’3 and 99kg. Roughly 1:45-1:50 HM. Personally I like the puma shoes a lot(Deviate Nitro Elite 3 and Fast-R3). The latter does put a lot of stress on the calves and strongly encourages forefoot strikes, but nonetheless still a fun racer. Adidas pro4 feels good, but I (and many others that weighs less) have snapped the energy rods, and I don’t want to risk that happening again during a race. The new asics lineup is great(Ray and sky Tokyo) but based on their rubber coverage I’m concerned about their durability, especially my weight does wear out shoes faster than others. Otherwise some of the lightest racers out there, and since you have the Superblasts(I own two pairs and hate), there should be less fit risks within the same brand

r/AskRunningShoeGeeksDaily/Easy Mileage Shoe?

Hello! First time posting - I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m looking for an easy/long run/daily shoe to add to my rotation. Going to be starting a marathon training block very soon, so I want something that will last a good chunk of mileage! Currently, I have the following: - Adidas EVO SL (current daily trainer). I like it, but not blown away like others have been, even at faster paces. Looking to replace these and use them for speedwork instead! - Zoom Fly 6 (speed and long runs). Absolutely love this shoe - fits like a dream, feels incredibly stable, incredibly comfortable. Ideally my easy mileage shoe would feel exactly like this, but without a plate. - Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo (race shoe). Incredibly fun and fast, fits well also. Retired: - On Cloudsurfer Next (daily trainer). Actually really liked this shoe, but it was on the firm side. Not great for longer runs. - NB 1080v14 (easy shoe). Absolutely hated this shoe for running and took it out of my rotation very quickly - it constantly felt like I was fighting the shoe to get anywhere- a real plodder! Stats if it helps: 30M 6’0” (183cm) Lean 80kg (176lbs) Target marathon time between 3.25 and 3.30 Forefoot striker (mid-foot when fatigued)

r/AskRunningShoeGeeksFast but stable half marathon shoes for a heavy runner

I bought a pair of ASICS Sky Tokyo this week as they were quite heavily reduced, but the more reading I've done the more I'm leaning towards the Endorphin Pro 4 for the marathon I'm training for. Think it might be a safer bet from a stability point of view and its also a great price atm.

I currently use the Triumph 21s and after lots of looking I've have just bought a pair of the Vomero Plus to give a go. Tried a few asics variants but I just couldn't get one to fit my foot shape (v high arch). Curios as to what shoe you use for your faster paces you mentioned? I bought a pair of sky tokyos as they were a good price, but now leaning towards the Saucony Endorphion Pro 4, think they would be better for me stability wise and maybe a safer bet over the asics.

Fairly consistent though not perfect. I have SB2, Novablast 4, Sky Tokyo, Megablast, Trabuco Max 3, and Fujispeed 3 all in US men's 12, and Magic Speed 3 in 12.5. They are mostly about the same on length except the Trabuco Max is maybe ¼ size short relative to the others. Width/fit varies somewhat more. Novablast 4 is a bit lower volume. Magic Speed 3 is significantly more tapered which is why I sized up. Megablast may be a bit more tapered in the toe, or maybe it's just that the upper material used for it and the Magic Speed 3 use that Motion Wrap engineered mesh material that has absolutely no stretch whatsoever. I've seen a fair number of runners complaining that the Megablast fits a bit narrow on either or both sides of the toebox. Interestingly, to me at least, the Sky Tokyo has the roomiest forefoot of all of my Asics shoes, which one might not expect. It also uses a very light plasticky rigid material but just seems to have more room to me. Of all my Asics shoes the SB2 is the most comfortable and best fitting. It is very light for such a big tall shoe, and works well for me as a tempo shoe, but many people find it just too big on foot for such runs. If you're trying on shoes I'd definitely get it on foot though. It is by far my all-time favorite shoe.

Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo for this weekend's marathon. I ran a 10k race a couple of weeks ago in the Metaspeed Edge Paris. 32k trail race I did earlier this year was in the Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra.

1:26 half and a 3:30 full marathon target? I ran a Hilly 1:30 half as a PB in July , and just pulled 3:07 last weekend on a full while recovering from a cold. I think you're under selling yourself on the full. Of course running a fast half doesn't dictate a fast full without targeted training but it does indicate your potential. To answer your question of the shoes, I ran in the Metaspeed Sky Tokyo, I did two long runs with a lot of race pace in them and a 10k time trial. This made me very confident in the shoe. I then put them on a shelf for 3 weeks until the Marathon.

Love my metaspeed sky Tokyos for marathons, but don’t have a regular trainer from asics. Any recommendations for a tall, thin strider?
