I’m fortunate enough to have my dream rotation. I’m 189lb (started at 235 July 2025) /5’ 7”. Fore foot / mid foot striker Recovery: Gel Nimmbus 27 Easy Run: Novablast 5 Daily: Novablast 5 Long Run: Megablast Tempo: Evo SL Speed Training (intervals) : Boston 13 Race: 5k/10k - Metaspeed Sky Tokyos ; half/full - Adios Pro 4 Trail: lone peak 9 & mount to coast T1 July 2025, I was at 16 mins per mile / down to 7:34 mins today 5k time is now 24:34 from 33mins Jan 1 2025 10k time is 50:24 Half: tbd Full: tbd I probably don’t need all my shoes lol but it certainly did something to keep me going
For training Adidas Evo SL, Mizuno Neo Zen v1,and Asics Megablast. My race day shoes are Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo.
I am also a 31 male that is 5'9" and around 174lb. I love the Evo SL, but I had to get rid of my Boston 13s. My foot is a little wide and the B13s were way too narrow in a 10.5, while the Evo SL fit like a glove. I had about 60 miles in the B13s, but the shoe never worked for me. I just got a pair of Asics Metaspeed Sky in a size 10 for a HM at the end of May. I only have a 5k in them, but I am absolutely in love with them.
some details: M47, 68kg, 3-3:05 marathon. birthday is coming up (!), and I need a shoe for long run sessions (25-35km, with blocks of 4:15-20/km). currently using Evo SL’s for all runs, and have a pair of Metaspeed Sky Tokyo for racing, which have only one marathon in them. some I’ve found so far: megablast, saucony pro/speed/azura, adidas adios pro 4, kiprun kipstorm tempo. what shoe am I not seeing, or would you choose? EDIT: just to add I have narrow feet CONCLUSION: found the Speed 5 in my size for €120 (from €200 list), on the site I was going to buy the nitro 4 for €102, and I had a €20 giftcard - so I think they’ll be ideal for long run sessions and for €100 the Speed 5 is a steal. thanks all.
I have the AP4 and did my first session in the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4 just now. Like em both a lot, AP4 is suuuper soft, Puma also soft but way more stable. They both feel quick, but the Puma felt more stable for a Marathon. The AP4 on tired legs is a killer, the Puma is considered one of the quickest shoes at the moment while still being stable. Also the fit feels better, the AP4 feels like a nailcatcher while on my run today the puma felt like a sock, maybe a lil loose. The Puma is brand new but still "only 250" compared to the metaspeed. Tried the metaspeed and would never use it for marathon, because you gotta have perfect form all the way, maybe because my feet felt "wide" in them eventho they arent really. Thats just my experience so far, in the end i think realisticly i would always go for comfort over "pace" because they are all quick, in the end you rather have less pain for the same time and a shorter recovery. Ran my first HM in evo sl's and did a 1.32, also worked without carbon.
yes it make sense, I usually do it as followed : I have like pre retired carbon shoes between 250-400/500k (Im trying to not go over 500K with carbon shoes knowing also that Im quite a big runner) and I used those in session and only keep like the race day shoes for the really big session for example 4x5K this sunday Ill wear my metaspeed sky tokyo that have 30K and thus Ill run my marathon with them having around 60K something like this. I also trully believe that Im willing to make the extra cost in order to buy more carbon shoes I was just wondering if there are physiological benefits of putting non carbon shoes like superblast 2 for a long steady run in order to make it more difficult and then eventually making more adaptation
