I have tried them all. Metaspeeds, Alphaflys, Valorflys, Adios Pro. They all end up destroying my feet or Achilles. Zoom Fly 6 is the most perfect one for me. My feet don’t feel so much pain with them.
That is okay. Our feet are different thus we respond differently to the midsole foams of these running shoes on the market. One reviewer said that the Metaspeed Sky+ feels harsh on his feet and I had the opposite experience. The reason? No one will ever know.
Definitely keen to see how the AP5 goes. I’d love the evo sl to be like the megablast as it’s perfect for a lot of work. I just got the metaspeed sky’s. They feel so much better than the AP4s. The cutout made them feel unstable for me and the heel just tore my Achilles up. Hopefully they fix that issue
I’m fortunate enough to have my dream rotation. I’m 189lb (started at 235 July 2025) /5’ 7”. Fore foot / mid foot striker Recovery: Gel Nimmbus 27 Easy Run: Novablast 5 Daily: Novablast 5 Long Run: Megablast Tempo: Evo SL Speed Training (intervals) : Boston 13 Race: 5k/10k - Metaspeed Sky Tokyos ; half/full - Adios Pro 4 Trail: lone peak 9 & mount to coast T1 July 2025, I was at 16 mins per mile / down to 7:34 mins today 5k time is now 24:34 from 33mins Jan 1 2025 10k time is 50:24 Half: tbd Full: tbd I probably don’t need all my shoes lol but it certainly did something to keep me going
yes it make sense, I usually do it as followed : I have like pre retired carbon shoes between 250-400/500k (Im trying to not go over 500K with carbon shoes knowing also that Im quite a big runner) and I used those in session and only keep like the race day shoes for the really big session for example 4x5K this sunday Ill wear my metaspeed sky tokyo that have 30K and thus Ill run my marathon with them having around 60K something like this. I also trully believe that Im willing to make the extra cost in order to buy more carbon shoes I was just wondering if there are physiological benefits of putting non carbon shoes like superblast 2 for a long steady run in order to make it more difficult and then eventually making more adaptation
I love the meta speed sky Tokyo but I will say they are not very wide friendly imo. The toe box isn’t bad but the mid foot is pretty dang narrow.
Help me with a long run shoe. I ran 2:26 marathon and am hoping for a long run shoe that would be suitable for runs at that pace, while still offering enough support. I'm not sure most racing shoes are sufficiently saving the legs. Shoes I've tried that aren't pure daily trainers: Boston 13 - good but also very stiff, I feel like it beats my legs too much. EVO SL - great, just not enough support for 30+ km long runs. Novablast 5 - better than EVO SL in support, but loses all pop after 150km. Disappointing. I'm curious about Megablast and Prime X Strung, but price tags are nuts and it's not possible to buy them locally to try them on. Any other suggestions? Otherwise I may stick with changing shoes for MP sections. EDIT: Racing shoes I've used and loved: Adidas Pro 4 and Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris. I also have Mizuno Neo Vista 2 (slow shoe) but I find the feeling of it incredible. I ran in On Cloudboom Echo 3 before, did not like the firmness. TL/DR I prefer a bit softer shoes, but not extremely soft like Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo.
Similar profile! 189cm and 95kg at the moment. SB2 was a brick for me. It didn’t give me any discomfort, but also didn’t make my legs feel fresh either. I was hoping SB3 would be different because I like the Megablast and the FF Leap in Metaspeed Sky Tokyo. It’s on its way already so your post is very helpful for me to calibrate expectations! I guess I will figure out soon. But based on what people are saying it seems SB3 is just not built for us bigger runners. I might as well get another pair of megablasts instead.
