Kayano’s are meant to support flat feet and ASICS other shoes (besides the GT series) don’t have arch support. So when I use Megablast and Superblast shoes I need an orthotic to support my feet. I love both of those shoes, been training in the Superblast and recently tried the Megablast—it felt the same under my feet but gave more pop in my run. Going to use them in Philly Marathon next week!

I'm a fan of the Superblast and I too use it as a training and race shoe. But for up to half marathon distance and at that pace, I personally think the Novablast can do a similarly good job at a cheaper price point. I used to run exclusively on Novablast until I moved up to a full marathon this year, and I plan to go back down to a Novablast once my Superblast wears out. For full context, I ran a 1:45 HM weighing 72kg wearing a Novablast. You're a lot lighter, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Two. Usually only one but I’ve upgraded recently. And since then, I like having two. One more cushioned pair of Asics Superblast, and a pair of Homa Clifton 9s. But I’m terrible in that I also wear my running shoes for walking, all the time. Don’t worry so much about what others do, do what works for you.

Sounds like you got the Novablast with the expectation it would perform like the Superblast. The Superblast (gen 1) is one of my favorites ever. I never jived with the Novablasts though. My dailies rotate between Triumph 23, Vomero 18 and Superblast.

6’ 225lbs. 35-45 miles/week on average. My current rotation: Brooks Glycerin 22 Brooks Glycerin Max Topo Atmos ASICS Superblast I wear the Glycerins when I plan on doing a balanced amount of walking and running. They strike a good balance for the two. For long recovery runs, I wear the Maxes. For easy miles, I use the Atmos. For days when I want to push the tempo, I wear the Superblast. If I was going to do two of those, I’d probably do the Glycerins and the Superblasts. I’d say they strike the best balance. You could really do either as a single shoe, but I think the Glycerins are better suited for slower work, and the Superblasts want to go faster. Trading the Glycerins for the Atmos would also be an option. They have a similar profile but are slightly softer, without being squishy. Plus they have the anatomical toe box, which helps with comfort.

I’d say neither are what you are after. You want a comfortable, neutral daily trainer with a bit of responsiveness but not to the extent it’s unstable (like the Evo SL). I would suggest trying out the Novablast 5, sounds like it would be a winner. Once you start doing longer training runs, the Superblasts might be a good complimentary shoe (but save that for longer runs, as they can be a bit clunky for slower / shorter distance easy runs).

I have both shoes and have had 5 pairs of Novablasts and 4 pairs of Superblasts over the past couple of years… they both get a lot of mileage in my rotation. Like I said, if I had to pick 1 for your situation and past preferences, I would go the Novablasts. More comfortable and more versatile for a number of different types of runs (easy, recovery, tempo, long runs etc). Where as the Superblast really does excel for long runs of say 90min+ where you just want to lock in and cruise though the run. They are overkill for everything else, and I think you’d find them a bit clunky for just a few midweek miles. I would suggest starting with the NB, and add the SB when you start wanting to do a lot of longer runs. My 2 cents anyway.

Novablast is definitely not suited to that pace. For that pace, why not purchase a race shoe and use the Superblast and Megablast as your daiky trainers?

I have about 1100km on my SB1 and about 800km on my SB2 , I still use SB1 for easy runs and it still feels good to be honest. What a shoe !

Been running with Mizuno - Neo Zen lately. Pretty cheap shoes like a 120 on Amazon for version 1. But one of my favorite daily shoes. It absorbs so much impact, your joints and feet are going to thank you. It also has good energy return to propel you forward. I've put about 40 miles on them and thinking about buying another pair. I bought the superblast 3s and couldn't go very far, they were killing my legs and feet. Ran later at night with the mizunos, hands down the most comfortable run.

ASICS and it's not even particularly close. Novablast for tempos, Dynablast for general aerobic, Superblast for long runs, Metaspeed Sky Paris for racing.
