SUPERBLAST 2
Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.
Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
Training runs - Superblast 3 Marathons - Alphafly 3 or Adios Pro 4 5k/10k race - Deviate Elites or Metaspeeds
I just bought another pair of SB2s, by the time they’re done I’m praying Asics wake up and create a worthy successor. SB2 upper + Megablast midsole would be the best selling running shoe of all time. Not criticising the SB3, it’s just a frustrating switch-up from the first 2.
Newest additions: -ASICS Superblast 3. They really broke in at 15 miles or so and it’s a great max distance trainer. I’m really liking it -Hoka Cielo X1 3.0. Very aggressive and squeaky. I loved both the 1.0 and the 2.0 but I’m thinking this one isn’t for me. I’ve only done one 7 mile tempo run in them so I need to try them again. -Mizuno Neo Vista. I keep going back to this shoe. Of the 15 pair I currently have, this is the one that I love for long runs with even a little bit of tempo work
If you want to stick with Asics at my budget ka at may mahahanapan ka, Superblast 3. In my experience it's like a premium version of the Novablast 5. Otherwise if you really liked the NB5 then get another pair para at least fresh pa siya come race day.
I’m a very similar runner to you pace-wise and stability-wise. I’m running in the Asics SB3 and Saucony Azura after also searching for a HM shoe (brooks glycerin GTS for marathon training/long runs). Loving them both! The asics are much softer compared to the firmness of the Azura so it may be a personal preference as well. Good luck!
I have SB2 and SB3, and I'm a heavy runner \~195 lbs I'm on my second pair of SB2 with 300 km and the first one lasted 1000 km, still have it and it still feels good I retired them because of the milestone and because of the color way... I only have logged about 100 km in the SB3 and they look and feel as good as new. Sole looks good even considering that I run in a very abrasive road. My previous experience with super soft shoe was Mizuno Neo Vista, Amazing feeling but durability was very poor. Foam deformed and sole had serious flaws after less than 400 kms. Asics shoes are expensive but I've been loyal since they have a very good durability for my weight. I've own Novablast 4, kayano and Nimbus. All good.
I'm in the same boat, I use a Superblast 3. instead of nimbus, megablast, superblast 2/3 are my favorite shoes ever.
I understand why people are upset. \- It's a very different shoe compared to SB2. This might alienate loyal SB2 users. To my taste I prefer SB2 for slightly more lively and longer runs \- SB3 is just amazing for slower pace and recovery runs. I only have like 100 kms in my SB3 so I can't talk about durability, so far so good bit it's too early to tell. If I were to pick just one shoe: Megablast not even a doubt in my mind.
Superblast 3 for easy miles. Megablast for tempo. (EVO SL is also really good) Race... I'm too slow for that (10k in 50 mins), so I use Megablast
Thanks for your support. I'm in a weird position, I certainly can run faster and further than most casual runners but I'm definitely slow for those who practice this sport regularly.
People like to complain about SB3 durability because SB2 and Megablast had a crazy good stupid durability. It's not normal to last 1000+ km.. SB3 are really good and less niche than SB2. I would say that is the best shoe for normal people.
