Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
Ran with Brooks Ghost 14s for a few years but for some reason the 16s are just worse. Way tighter in front. So I just bought two more pairs of 14s from wherever I could find that had leftovers 😂 Nike Pegasus 41s are also great. Overall, both make me feel so much more in control, instead of running on mush. I did get Brooks Ghost Max 2 for longer (was preparing for a half-marathon) runs but a pair of Ghost 14 or Pegasus 41 would have also been fine. Am female, if that makes a difference.
I just paid $165 😮 for another pair of 14’s. In March 2023, I had gone to a local running store where the owner measured my feet, watched my gait, and selected like 5 different kinds of shoes to try. I ended up with the 14’s, and they were great. My other pairs cost $105 and $85, but since they are discontinued and hard to come by, I paid the $165. I was reading up on 15, 16 and 17, and the consensus was the line went downhill after 14. :(
I have the ghost 14s and the adrenaline 22. I prefer the ghosts 14 over the adrenaline 22’s the more i wear them. Just more comfortable for me. Was looking into getting a new pair but i hear bad reviews on the new lines of ghosts after the 14’s and I’m not sure what to try out. I work on concrete floors for 10 hours a day so the ghosts saved me feet. Any recommendations on what to try out? I had Hokas and absolutely hated them. Worse shoes i wore. Hurt my feet so bad
Brooks ghost 16. The ghost 14 were my first proper running shoe, went to the 15 loved those as well, now have about 340M on the 16 and they have been my favorite and still are in the lineup as my recovery run shoe. 17s are out and the prices on 16s have dropped significantly. Reason for choice is simply because it is an easy all around stable shoe. I have ran 5K to half marathons in them as well as survived a week at Univeral without issue. Whatever choice you make, I'd suggest finding somewhere that has the shoes you want and take a lap around the store in them.

Honestly run whatever you’re comfortable in. My first marathon was four hours and 58 minutes and I ran them in Brooks ghost 14.
To be honest, I started with a pair of brooks ghost 14 and felt like they were hard. Got the triumph 20's and they felt soft and bouncy. I'd never had a shoe on my foot that felt so comfortable. To be fair, ive never tried on a lot of running shoes either.
I loved my ghost 14s but the 15s didn’t feel as supportive. Ended up switching brands after those and now I’m running in a pair of Adidas Supernova Rise and they’re amazing.

I have exactly the same experience! Loved the 14s and other Brooks for years. Had an injury within running 100km on the 16s. Now I run on the Max Pro. Hate that they are so big, but the running is great.
I had ghost 13 and 14s they didn’t change the mid sole on those. Then they changed the designs. I Didn’t like the 15s and 16s (the maxes were terrible). Opted for glycerin 21 and Hyperion 2 and the Cascadia 18 for trail runs. Idk why they change the lines so much? They juat need to make a new line if you change the mid sole that much.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus if you can get them on sale to meet your budget. Ran my first half marathon with them. r/runningshoegeeks have a whole list of recommendations on their wiki. I’ve had in, order of purchase: - Brooks Ghost 15 - only pair I’ve bought Instore after a gait analysis. - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 - Adidas Adios Pro 3 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra (for trails) - ASICS Superblast 2 Bought all but the Brooks Ghost from Sportsshoes.com. They often have good sales and discounts. At time of purchase: - Adidas Adios Pro 3 were £135 down from £210 - ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 were £112 down from £180 - Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed were £112 down from £160 - ASICS Superblasts never go on sale Sizing: Went half a size up for the Gel Nimbus 25s, Adios Pro 3 and Agravic Speed. Went true size for Ghost and Superblast 2. I am a very mid runner. I mainly use the Superblast 2s and the Agravic Speeds. The Brooks Ghost were highly recommended on forums and shops. Upper was comfortable but the midsole left a lot to be desired. I moved on from them very quickly to the Gel Nimbus. The Ghosts have been relegated to generic gym usage. Both of the Adidas are ultra light weight and designed for faster runners than me. Less comfy upper but really fun to run in after the initial break in and issues below. They are both narrow and the insole on both pairs cut into my right foot quite a bit when I first started running in them to the point I would wear blister plasters if I chose to run in them. That issue is gone now but the right foot on the Adios Pro 3 still never feels quite right. Chances are it’s just this particular pair and I forget about it once I’m actually running. ASICS Gel Nimbus and ASICS Superblast have convinced me to go for ASICS race shoes when my Adidas Adios Pro 3s give out. They’re super comfy. Ran my first ever half on the Gel Nimbus and my first marathon in the Superblast 2s.
